What kind of car do you have?

Recommended Posts

Seems to be a fair few VW fans on the forum.

I have a (Late 2001) VW Golf GT TDI PD130, got to love the torque these things have. It still frightens me sometimes ... its probably going to be the only time I will have a 6 speed gearbox so i'm releshing it while it lasts.

Oh and the wallet certainly likes it as it does a whopping 500miles+ per ?40 tank :DD

My pride and joy is my 1992 Corrado G60 in Pearl Green. Some nice sensible modifications which takes it from 160BHP standard to 207BHP.

The nice shiny Speedline alloy wheels were my most recent addition :)

Nice car, of course is from VW (german manufacturer) :D

Wish I could get my hands on one of those one day, very rare to see them in FL.

Thanks man :)

They aren't too common these days - especially in the USA. Despite a larger amount getting imported to the states, obviously the country is a heck of a lot bigger for them to get lost in :(

Nice Borbet rims on that Opel Astra G by the way ;)

Chicane - nice motor bet it moves with the extra bhp you've squeezed in ...

Yeah both the Scirocco and Corrado are hard to come by on the used car market at the moment (was looking for a G60 myself about 6 months ago). Parts also seem to be either scarce or quite expensive which put me off further.

I'll try and fit a box onto the tdi in the next few months which should bring it up to 170bhp and lso bring the 0-60 time time to a resonable 7.5-9 secs from 9 secs at present.

It certainly doesn't hang around.. right from the lights its not particularly hot as G60 gearbox gearing really holds the car back, but once you are on the move there are not a lot of cars (without going 210BHP or more) that will keep up. Managed to embarass a few other cars using the on the move blasting - best was a Mercedes E320 who just looked stunned that this 12 year old VW was pulling away from him ;)

If you happen to buy / read Performance VW magazine, flick to the article in the centre of the most recent issue of the magazine about the DubForce group thrash at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground - i'm one of the last at the back of the article with the green Corrado.. had different wheels on it then though  - yes my times were awful but i've never done 1/4 mile sprints before! :)

Its a good time to own a Corrado at the minute - lots of renewed in them now and they are rapidly gaining Classic Car status. Lots of interest in the used car market too and prices are on the up and up - not so good if you are looking to buy though. Repairs can be steep - but taking the car to excellent garages like Stealth Racing helps keep costs down, and driving pleasure up! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

1999 Ford Escort ZX2 70k on the odo go fast bright red(when it's not dusty) has an odd tranny or engine problem happens in warmer weather it'll hunt for a gear right when I accelerate from a stand still it's kinda like shifting to a higher gear in a manual when you don't have enough revs or road speed and the car kinda shakes and bucks it doesn't happen all the time if I give it ample gas it'll do fine. Other than that she's a great from A to B vehicle has a factory installed CD changer and that lil' motor will howl if I push it enough.

Dream car 2005-06 BMW M5 in metallic silver.
