[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

What the hell are you blabbing about? If checking the thread every 5 minutes equals checking it every hour or so, then yes, I check it every five minutes. Second of all, Im not even home so I cant play the damn game, and thirdly why the hell do you care? Mind your own business. You make yourself look like a jackass. The only thing that has quote "ruined" the game for me was when some idiot posted a screen of the last part. The mods already said to limit the amount of postings with spoilers in it. Get a life.

That's still besides the point of what I said. Someone like that will come back and post something else that might ruin the game and you're going to end up seeing it and be angry that you did. Just don't read anything about the game until your done with it, that's is if you don't want someone to ruin it for you. It's kind of pointless to go hush hush don't say anything because you know someone is going to end up saying something. It's like walking into girls locker room, you may or may not see a boobie ;).

Why do I care? Because it's kind of like walking into it, you can't blame anyone but your self for coming the the thread. You know everyone ends up posting someone thing may ruin the game. It happens on every game release and every movie release.

Installing now!!!

Just leave it on what it sets it to, cept turn Trilinear filtering down to Bilinear, and keep to 800x600 i reckon. Still looks awesome.

P.s them spinny blade flying things are awesome, little buggers!

So?

Hahah it's 9:19am PST (I just started work at 9am) and I'll ready I'm itching to get out and go play. I seriously think this game is going to change the way people look at gaming forever. I'm really happy for gamers everywhere this year that we have got AWESOME flagship games for every consol,. Halo 2 (xbox),. GTA:San Andres (PS2),. and now HL2 (PC). I do however feel sorry for consol gamers because there is no way they can know the joy of holding their optical mouse with the great 5.1 sound and a 256MB video card. There is just so much more detail in PC games then consol. I HOPE TO GOD they don't spoil this game by releasing it to consol (atleast not for a while). I'm going to run to the mall @ lunch to go buy a strat guide for when I get stuck. Anyone have any tips on the best strat guide?

BTW Current specs in sig,.

3.93E GHz P4,. 1GB Cosair XMS PC4000,. 6800GT (420/1120),. Audigy 2,. Zalman 5.1 headphones.

All I have to say is DAMN... When I am just exploring around (not during figts) i get about 200FPS - 250FPS and when I get a lot of action (fighting,. explosions,. etc.) I get about 120FPS - 150FPS @ 1600x1200 with 4xAF and 8xAA

From what i've seen of the game, 3 hours ish, its not one bit a let down. I was gutted at Doom, but not this. Oh no.

I was also pretty worried because CS:Source runs awful on my computer, and i was sure HL2 would follow but it doesn't, it runs fine!

Also my apologies BlindLabel013 i just didn't see the point you were trying to make.

:D

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
