Yeah that's what the whole thing was about, the original room was brown and covered in blood and crap. I thought a nice shade of lilac would lighten the mood. :D

Wow.. well had about an hour at it and have stopped for dinner.

This game is f'ing stunning... and those Manhack things are bloody 'orrible!!

Amazing.. can't wait to finish eating and get on playing :)

ok... i brought the retail dvd copy... go to install it and the installler says 'can't find the file hl2.ico1 in 'hl24.cab'.....

a quick scan of the dvd reveals this file is in hl25.cab!!! what the hell can i do? it wont let me specify where the file is, and then it just uninstalls everything.... ideas?!?!!?

It happens with the CD version also. I did not do CS (see post above) cause all that I have is Dialup so I ain't playing online.

Will try with CS tonight.

is it supposed to take a few minutes to register your cd key with steam? is it decrypting the files?

I think it's just because of the mass bandwith they must be using, between registering people,. pre-loading,. etc.. I'm suprised the internet in still running

lol yea it just said steam was too busy to complete my registering request and now its unlocking the files :D

on a side note, this could mean people with warez versions could unlock their game w/o registering their cdkey right now....right?

I just played quickly up to the part right after the teleportation gets screwy. The facial animations are amazing and the VO's are just as good. I did get some stddering sound, though, even though the game itself ran smoothly.

i'm so jealous, but on another side i know with exams coming up i would be playing it all the time instead of studying. Maybe i'll get it for Thanksgiving, since im really interested in playing DOD:Source and ofcouse def want to try it out on my radeon 9800pro.

    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
    • Windows 95 offered the ability to add and edit the right click menus, on a per file type basis. This feature seems to be missing in the new file explorer. Are they bringing it back as a "new" feature?
    • It's nearly time to replace my aging Founders Edition 3080, it doesn't OC as nicely as it used to and it's running around 10c warmer than it did when I first bought it.  I don't have budget for much more than what I spent on the 3080 and locally, that means the best GPU I can manage is a 9070XT. On this basis I have a few questions: 1. At present I don't use ray tracing, if this was to change, would this GPU be an issue? 2. How does it compare on a performance basis? 3. Are the drivers worse or better than those for nVidia? 4. Linux support, is it there? 5. Anything else I should be aware of if I were to make this change? 6. Is it a good idea or shall I try and keep the 3080 a little longer.
