I have my 9600 xt and I have my setting on high for everthing and it runs very smoothly.... and it runs at 1024 x 768. Just crank it up and see what happens! I tried turning on the AA to 2x and it get a little lag. I left the Trlinear the same and didnt put it on Bilinear.

Valve officially said that 2 versions will be in shops;

# Standard Edition

? Half-Life 2

? Counter-Strike: Source

? Ships on six CDs, in one of three box-art packages (Gordon, Alyx or the G-Man)

and

# Collector's Edition

? Half-Life 2

? Counter-Strike: Source

? Half-Life 1: Source

? a Half-Life 2 T-shirt

? a Prima book sampler

? Ships on a single DVD.

This seems not to be the case. I've only found the game on single DVD, containing CS Source and HL2 only, no box-art package, no manual.

Does the US version have a manual on the box-art package? or just the 6 CDs?

I guess the retail version requires activation. Is the activation similar to windows XP activation? Do I need to activate once on installation, or do I need to be online every time I start the game?

Cheers mate

Offline mode will not be available and an internet connection will be required if:

1. You do not select the 'Remember my password' option on the login screen.

2. You choose to login as a different user.

3. You check 'Don't save account information on this computer' on the Steam Account Settings screen.

i wanna go home and play :( work sucks!!!

i managed to play it for 20 minutes this morning tho. the title screen is wicked :)

and the scene where the combine soldier throws the can on the ground and makes you pick it up and put it in the trash!! that was awesome! :D

i like all of them but you dont make all the colors with no text.... i would probably use every single one of them if you didnt have that writing.... idk i think it just makes the whole thing look bad.

Hey guys, my friend bought the retail copy, and I'm trying to help him set things up, but he can't find his CD KEY to register on his Steam account.

Can someone tell me where it is for him, since I don't have retail I don't know heh.

    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
    • Everything they say you can already do yourself on the registry by changing some things.
    • Artist's renderings are so much nicer to view than the real thing, don't you think?
