Ok - i've some how managed to get pretty far into things without the hovercraft. I've already got to the point linked below without the boat somehow..

Am I meant to have it already?!

you got that far withought the watter buggy, omg, spoiler white from now on go back to where the rockets start comming down and releacing headcrabs, toward the end of that sewer canyion area, there isa side passage with a wodden walkway on teh side, go down it, youll get the water buggy, then have fun, cause imho it is.

See I can't help but feel I am meant to have the waterbuggy thing by this point as the barrels I am using should be for another puzzle which I solved..

Where the hell is the waterbuggy then?!

Check out this website: click.

It should help you through the process. If you still can't figure it out, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall. Click Off. This is not the best idea, but will be okay until you figure out how to open ports.

doubt it, youll notice they jacked their bandwith up also to keep with demand, if there is more stress on steam, they will jsut get more bandwith (i have a feeling there is an ISP just callign them up going, you need more, we got more, you shure you dont need more atm"

Steam is going to have trouble holding up at the current rate:

same here! like a launch-pad & updater 4 all ur Valve games :D

Once this "Source SDK" has finished downloading and installing - is there any way of saving the downloaded content, that way I don't need to download 35MB every time I wipe my computer (which is quite often).

you can burn it to disc.

cause i dont have any of the tools area installed this may not work, but right click a game or one of the tools, and select teh backup option, will give you antoehr screen to where you can select what to back up, then select the directory /file you want it to be

Burn to disc - yeah I was thinking that, but where will it be stored after download?

not sure what you mean. i mean steam has the option of backing it up to disc (right click on game) but as far as where it goes on your HD, probably somewhere's in your steam folder ;)

you select where its stored / what its called

As you can see from the newest graph, the current bandwidth is experiencing a sudden drop. Note that we are just beginning what is usually the peak hours of internet traffic (afternoon). So there are two possibilites:

1) Demand for HL2 is decreasing.

2) Network congestion is causing packets to be lost.

If I had to take a guess #2 is more likely.

no, i think it goes into your steam folder. nice spelling btw :p

i thought the grey line was avaliable bandwith. and the yello was usage, youll notice at 20:46 near the 16th there was an increase in avalaible, there will probally be anothe rincrease agian.

but i do also see the spikes as it were of the avalable bandwith, who knows, could jsut be hickups from being slammed, but ill will say this, this is a big test of steam, if it hold up to this withought goign down, then it will be popular.

I see, I've just selected that backup method for HL2, and it'll take 25 mins to complete (woah!).

Just To Confirm

1.) This backup isn't a backup of the entire game;

2.) This backup isn't a complete backup (as in, original DVD > this one)

3.) This is only the activation stuff that's been activated

4.) It's encrypted, so it will only work for me (Steam Login Details)

5.) If I wipe me machine and reinstall the game from DVD, how do I import these backed up file (because essentially I'm installing the game twice.

If there wa a manual I wouldn't be asking too many questions ;)

    • Microsoft announces the return of Xbox exclusives with Gears of War and Clockwork Revolution by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft had plenty of announcements to make today at the Xbox Games Showcase celebrating 25 years of the gaming brand. Now, under the leadership of the new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, Xbox games are going back to their original release methods. She appeared in the livestream itself to announce the return of Xbox console exclusives. This means two major upcoming games from first-party studios won't be coming to PlayStation or Nintendo consoles: Gears of War: E-Day from The Coalition and Clockwork Revolution from InExile. Both titles will only be coming out on Xbox Series X|S consoles and Windows PCs, ditching any plans they had for PlayStation. "These are not timed exclusives," confirmed Microsoft. "We’re committed to investing in and growing XBOX both on console and beyond." The company confirmed that any already announced Xbox titles for PlayStation, under previous leadership, will continue to arrive for the rival platform. This means games like the new Halo remake, Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and State of Decay 3 will still be available on PlayStation, either at launch or later. It sounds like any new projects announced by the company will avoid other consoles in the same way. Microsoft first opened the floodgates by bringing titles like Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles back in 2024. Since then, almost every new game release from Xbox Game Studios has arrived for rival consoles alongside Xbox and PC. This decision follows Sony's plans to ditch its own multiplatform releases too. Outside of multiplatform live service titles, the PlayStation maker is even abandoning its PC porting endeavors that started years ago.
    • I'm missing the beginning part of this equation... but for the sake of the convo, you don't get to take a $250(?) set of normally priced RAM, jack it up to over $500/600/800 just because of a market shift, then lower it back down to more than what it was originally and call that a "sale". Not the author of this post... the manufacturer/seller.

    • no thanks is overpriced and its not the fastest ram neither.
    • It is, but it also has a bad performance reputation even on high-end gaming PCs. Some people say it's the engine's fault, others say it's the games developers' fault, who knows... At the end of the day, for the average gamer, the take is this: PC game with Unreal Engine 5? Be affraid and cross your fingers, it's a 50/50 chance.
