could it have been elaborated just a bit more

Gabe said they will be doing expansion packs like opposing force for hl1, so you guys that said the game is short dont worry more is coming

o well thats great isnt it, so we can spend more money and hopefully get a decent multiplayer? or actually a storyline which makes sense? or maybe even an ending which isnt a hopeless cop out? pigs might fly.

The only time it happens for me is straight after it loads the next section.....prolly clears all the sounds from the cache and then has probs loading the new ones? I aint tried anything to fix it tbh....wasnt that much of a pain....still enjoyed the game!!! :p

But if someone fixes it, I will use the fix for when i start the game again on Hard :D

that'll teach them for not going the iD engine route.

doesn't stutter a lot for me, only after i've been playing for long periods the system ram is on it's last leg (1 gig ddr400) ... and mainly when i quicksave or it loads in a huge chunk of video/audio data.

For those complaining about the ending, I have a feeling Valve has something up their sleeve. Hasn't HL3 already been pretty much confirmed?

Yes I believe I've read somewhere that Gabe gave big hints that there is a HL3, or even he mentioned that there is a HL3 planned.

yes he has said that most if not all profit made off of hl2 will be going to the development of hl3. I just hope it doesnt take as long cause this game is sweet!!!! (and im only on chapter 4, lol) how long did it take u guyts to beat it on medium

i jsut used teh search, couldnt find it, link, or what to search for "Counter strike Source server " and " Neowin Counter strike source " brings up to many results

already done use the search function!  :woot:

so does this game end on a major cliffhanger like Halo 2 did?  I've just heard alot of people complaining about the end of it...

No game will ever finish like Halo 2 did. That was a big mistake on Bungie's part.

From what I've heard, Half Life 2's ending isn't bad- it just doesn't tie everything together, leaving possiblities open for a third game.

im a couple maps away from finishing it myself, but from what i hear, yes it is a cliffhanger ending, mainly because HL3 is confirmed, and Expansion packs are in the works. if it ended point blank, there wouldnt be much room for either of those 2.

The only time I get studdering is when the little window popsup and says "Loading". Then for like 1-2 seconds after that it jumps a bit, but the game studderes too..

that's pretty much the only time i get it but once in awhile it studders just randomly

    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
