[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

And where does all this information comes from?? From the game itself?? Where was this story when I was rinding around in that buggy?

I'm sorry, I played the game, and payed attention all the way through ... This information is nowhere to be found in the game!

There're bits of pieces of information hidden in the game. It's up to you to find it... Also many things are put together from the HL story.

G-Man is the guy in the Blue business suit. That's just it, we DON'T know who he is! He talks to you in the opening of the game.

You're so helpful..

I ALREADY KNOW THAT. WHATS HIS DEAL!!! WHAT DID HE DO IN HALF LIFE (1)

Yup that's true. Hopefully there will be some expansions in the near future that fill in even more of the blank pages of this story, though. :p

he was pretty mysterious in half-life, he would appear in places that you could reach only after a bit of work and he would always be gone when you got there. at the end of the game you learn that he has been "watching" you and then recruits you for his employers. the game ends with it saying that your status is hired and you await for assignment. thus ending half-life. until half-life 2 :). my best guess is that he is quality assurance for some alien force. making sure that Freeman is doing his job. :D

Here's one

How do you know its him though?

Some people are suspecting that HL2's story is just a simulation and that Gman is putting him through this to hire him for a job. they back up there theory with the fact Gman is always about and at the end says his been watching him. and at the start the guy on the train says "i didn't see you get on this train".. the clues are there.

Other people (rivals to this theory) say its always teleporters.. freeman he teleported to the train Gman teleports around the place watching freeman etc...

I believe its all a simulation myself though..

I know it is id him because I looked through the Zoom Lens

Cool Theory I beleive the second one myself.

And Oh There should be a spoiler tag on this Topic right

simulation? eh? why does someone saying "i never saw you get on" proof that it is a simulation? that theory could possibly make sense if there was any sort of evidence to back it up, but since i have not found any i doubt very seriously that it is something like that.

Probably me being a b00b but...

On the bridge after u take out the gun ship u have to plug a plug back in to enable bridge access... ive played with this bloody plug for 10 mins now and it wont go in? am i doing something wrong? tried it manually and with gravity gun but it either pops down or up really annoyingly

thanks for your time

you dont plug the plug back in. you go hit the switch in the corner of the room.

Another clue is that you will never need to use something that can be thrown away.  For example if there is a cliff nearby you will never have to use anything movable by the gravity gun.

That's not completely true.

(possible spoiler)

If you remember in Highway 17, when you insert those 3 batteries to open the gate, you can easility throw one of them over the cliff or in the water. I didn't try it, so I don't what would happen exactly. It would probably restart it saying that I lost objects that are necessary to complete the mission. (This what happens when you car is destroyed by the train. lol)

    • New Outlook for Windows and Web is getting a simple but very useful email feature by Sayan Sen Recently Microsoft put up a blog post highlighting not one, not two, but 15 total reasons why it feels you should switch to New Outlook already. If that was not enough, the company is bringing another new feature soon that could finally compel you to switch over to the new app. According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the tech giant is making changes to how message sorting works when users choose criteria besides the traditional options of From, Subject, or Date Received. The idea is to provide better options for the attribute being used for sorting and make it easier to understand why messages appear in a particular order. For those unfamiliar Outlook already allows users to sort emails using a variety of fields including sender, category, importance, subject, and message size. Users can access these options through the Filter menu in Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. With the upcoming change, whenever users sort by a field other than From, Subject, or Date Received, Outlook will automatically display an additional column showing the value being used for the sort. For example, if messages are sorted by Size, a Size column will appear in the message list, allowing users to immediately see the data that determines the ordering of emails. Microsoft believes this should make sorting behavior simpler and reduce the need to manually adjust views or inspect individual messages. Support for sorting by Flag Due Date is also coming and should be especially be helpful for users who rely on email flags to manage follow-up tasks and deadlines. The feature is listed under Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564803 and is expected to reach general availability beginning later this month itself (June 2026). You can find the entry here. As always though, users should keep in mind that roadmap timelines can change and rollout schedules may occasionally be adjusted by Microsoft. Outlook for Web is also set to receive this feature.
    • That is true. but the liability side of my balance sheet is clean and has been for decades.  Nobody comes a knocking,  calling or writing harassing me for the money i owe them.😎👍  Haven't dealt with "a money changer" in decades and like Jesus it was in Jerusalem.  Don't have much money, but have even less stress in my life.👍👍     P.S.  Sorry, can't walk on water or change it to wine,
    • Maybe ? DLSS Swapper (can swap the DLSS/FSR/XeSS versions) as long as the game (typically online/competitive) doesn't checks for file tampering. You can try different version(s) or update if not the current version of the FSR. https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper
