why do people like this game? it suck so bad. all you do is gather quest and complete them by killing something most of the time. how is this fun? i forced myself to play it for 2 hrs and i couldn't take it anymore.

yup

all 10 million people are doing gathering quests by killing things

l2raid then come back later k?

Need a class recommendation please.

There's a pretty open request. Depends what kind of things you like doing, if you intend to have just one char then I suggest one that is easy to level like a hunter, warlock or druid. If you want to have multiple chars, do one of the harder classes first otherwise you'll find yourself lacking motivation after leveling the easy class (like I am).

Hybrid classes like druids or paladins are useful because you can respec/regear for a different gaming experience.

I was just sitting here tonight playing Wow, farming HK's as you do and I thought why did Blizzard ever take out the ranking system in pvp with the cool name titles you could get such as... High Warlord.. Now who could not resist having that title in front of their name...

I started playing Wow about two and a half years ago, when that system was still in play then it just disappeared it must have been when BC came out, im not to sure.. But does anyone no why it was taken out.

Also would it make sense if Blizzard brought that back?

Well they were taken out with the ridiculous first incarnation of the honour system. They could be brought back in the future - my idea would be with the new 360-style Achivements with Wrath.

Hunters with the changes seems like to driving home the idea that Hunters are the noob class. Damn Huntards!

Golf I would love for the orignial honor system with some tweaks back, with the titles and no more of this forming pre-made's for marks to get gear bull**** that goes on today.

I can't wait for D3 or SC2 to come out, my drive to WoW has been slack lately due to those games, even though there isn't no release date set, I just wanna play them, and I wanna play King. Tired of Outland's already, wanna go to the cold!

I started writing a long post remembering my time "in the grind" but I think it can be summed up like this:

The only difference between pre-mades farming honor now, and those that did it back around patch 1.6 is that old groups required much higher level of dedication, organization, and commitment. Someone making HWL would play 2-3x more than someone in a PVE guild getting world-first kills during their finally weeks in the grind.

The old system was elitist, exclusive, and arguably dangerous (240 hours of video games over 3 weeks isn't healthy). It perpetuated a system where the "lower class" (90%+ players) were cannon fodder for the upper 5% (those in the Warlord group wearing high-level raid gear).

I had a lot of fun during my time in the PVP grind but I'm glad to see it go. There are some aspects I miss (mostly the social aspect of the shadow-moon PVP groups) but they're far outweighed by the disadvantages for people inside and outside of those groups.

Hey,

Today I decided to return to World of Warcraft after a 4-5 month break. I was planning on leveling a new character, since most of my time with WoW has been with melee characters. So now I have decided I want to go caster this time, but I want to be a damage character so I was planning on rolling a Mage. Are mages still fun to play or have they been hit with the yawn- or nerf-bat in the previous months?

Also, I read about mounts being available at level 30 - Has this already been added if not, when is that going to happen?

I also read about some 'leveling' minded addons, where you had quest coordinates within the games, an arrow to point you in the right direction, a list of quests suitable for your level etc. to ease the leveling, is this currently available and working? Would also be neat with some mage recommended addons, mostly focused on the leveling part right now.

Any help appreciated :)

My main is a warrior, and I have a mage on the side and its definetly fun to play with. Just research the kind of mage talent tree you want to do. I love frost. And as someone mentioned questhelper is good for...helping with quests! :)

I did it, I re-activated my account two days ago. I'm glad I did. I've already found a very help guild made up of a bunch of family members who have been very helpful. The Barrens is not so bad anymore (no more immature kids...must of grown up over this past few years!).

Ah..well, I'm already level 19 a Troll Hunter, not to bad for being a noob. Also, for those who are just starting out try out a Addon called Questhelper..it's amazingly good. Tells you where to go (somewhat like connect the dots) and if you have multiple quest it will draw a line from you to the quest to then next..etc. Trying to make you level the fastest without taking a bunch of trips.

I have found that mages are still fun to play. I recently heard a "mage round table" on World of Warcast podcast, and I'm contemplating rolling another mage.

Also, I read about mounts being available at level 30 - Has this already been added if not, when is that going to happen?

They haven't implemented the patch for the 30 mounts yet, but I suspect it will be soon.

I use Lightheaded (comments pulled from WoWhead), Double Wide (sets your quest log side-by-side), and TomTom (GPS like navigation integrated with Lightheaded...gives the arrow to the destination) for my quest addons. I will post the links for all three when I get home tonight.

Even if they just brought the titles back and leave everything else (anyone can get any piece of armor) I'd love that. Or if you got a title depending on how many kills you had. It'd be useless but I'd still like it.

just managed to ding to 70 a few days ago, going to start the end game process now only problem is my gear is rubbish, there was no decent gear given from quests and i have not been doing many instances either. Most if not all of my stuff is green :( Anyone have any reccomendations on howto get better stuff quickly?

Attumen dropped his mount today. Unfortunately I didnt win it. :p

Seen it twice and have never won. :(

Gief mount, actually no I want the Baron from Straths mount

You can solo it pretty easily, especially being pally, but Druid got it easer. I do a few runs on my warrior, getting anywhere from 50-200G per run depending on what I can DE.

For those that are interested in the mods I listed, here are the links to them.

DoubleWide - http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info...DoubleWide.html

TomTom - http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032-TomTom.html

Enjoy. :)

Thanks man, still haven't started yet, still deciding what class to play and gathering all the addons.

But those seem great (Y)

    • This got me thinking, would you rather a self driving car prioritise protecting its passengers or everyone else? I'd choose the one that keeps me and my kids safest. At some point, these cars have to make those choices already, don't they? Wonder if we have a way to find out what way they lean.
    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.
