Well, perhaps "lowbie" is the wrong term to use here, but the point still stands, that stuff from up to BT will be replaced pretty quickly, and Sunwell gear will still be a good option to have at level 80.

I didn't look at the new items much, but gear you get in Raids and gear you get through Quests tend to have different stats distributions, more raw stats and less Ratings, etc'..

Oh, and I'm new here, by the way, so - Hello :)

BT/MH... lowbie? You are aware that only 2% of the raiding population is in Sunwell, claiming all things prior to Sunwell lowbie is kind of.. ignorant. Even if the gear is comparable or not that big of an upgrade from some other stuff the fights still require raid wide discipline to actually accomplish anything.

We were talking about the lasting power of gear: when I said "lowbie epics" I meant that quiet literally: low-level epics. I didn't make any comment about the difficulty of the encounters that you have to clear (or mindlessly farm) to get them.

99% of the gear just isn't going to last long: there's nothing wrong with that, but it's foolish to think you'll gain anything significant by having anything but best-in-slot gear when the expansion comes out. That's a good thing IMO.

ZA for the bear mount, which I see as the best loot in there (even if it isn't gear! tongue.gif) is relatively hard to obtain.

If you're on shadowmoon and play horde:

Bring 7.5k to Maladie in Betrayal and you'll have one in 2-3 weeks depending on how many people they have in their waiting list. You can also bring the same gold to me and we'll get one within 3 days. If you're alliance side, Varnic in Eternals can probably hook you up -- last check they were going for around 5k.

I don't think Blizzard put that mount in with the intention of high-end guilds selling them to other people but the point is: you can and many people do. The fact that you can face-roll through daily quests and get one seriously diminished it's value as a status symbol.

Also, they often prevent you from running through doors (ie: the repair guy near the bank in ogrimar, onto the elevators in undercity, etc) and if you have the +81 healing enchant on your weapon it streams out the bears ass and looks like a fart-cloudwhen you run.

I have to say i dont see me replacing any of my BT/MH epics before 80 in all honesty, with the epic gem bonuses i just dont think there will be any green or blue items worth swapping for. There might be some blues which are a slight upgrade, but in that case i would rather stick with my hard earned epics. Having said that, im glad i quit hardcore raiding. Talk about lack of a social life and no i dont mean that as a dig to anyone but in my case i was raiding 5 hours a night 6 days a week with only sundays off it was quite hard to maintain friendships, im just glad i found a girl who loves gaming as much as me

Are there any addons to enable the "!" mark for low level quests?

And now you raid together for 5 hours. :p j/k

If you can pug something, successfully, it can be considered lowbie, but even then there is the variable that some of the people in the raid are geared pretty well.

I know for a fact Vashj has been pugged. 4/5 in Hyjal is nearly weekly pugged on my server (alts from a sunwell guild lead). Haven't heard of Kael being pugged, sure somebody has attempted it and may have succeded. And I'm sure part of BT has been pugged. Since the removal of attunements and 2.4 badge gear, raiding isn't so special anymore.

How many guilds are 3/4 5/6, 4/5, 4-5/9 atm?

We ran pug TK through kael today, pug ssc through vashj yesterday (i didn't go, but i heard they skipped hydross). Might run a pug hyjal this week if we can't find anybody willing to sell us a pre-cleared zone - but we have run a pug that's killed Archimonde once or twice this month and more in the past.

How many guilds are 3/4 5/6, 4/5, 4-5/9 atm?

According to wowjutsu:

Killed everything in SSC but Vashj: 18%

Killed everything in TK but kael: 20%

Killed 4 in Hyjal: 12%

Killed 4 in BT: 12%

Killed Vashj: 10%

Killed Kael: 8%

Killed Illidan: 5%

1% or fewer raid guilds have registered kills past Brutallus. Assuming roughly 40 raiders in a guild (which may have a much larger roster), people who have killed anything past him are the top 1/300 of a percent.

I was arguing for you. I can't telll if this is against me or just a info post.

But to make my point more known, how many guilds were went 4/5 4-5/9 before downing Vashj and Kael? I have roughly 7 on my server, who started into MH/BT before even attempting Vashj/Kael and I'm sure other servers are the same.

<snip>

We 2 manned Garr in MC for bindings tonight. Fight took from star to finish about 45 min.

How hard was Garr? My priest friend and myself did, Azuregos last night, took us 49 minutes to down him. 88G and I got Typhoon.

I must say, the closer I get to 70 the more excited I am about raiding. Right now I'm spec'd as ret just for leveling, but I'll be switching to prot so I can tank. I have a pretty laid back guild and they help any new 70 through heroics and such to get them geared, so I should be up and running as a tank pretty quickly once I get there.

Garr is a joke. The hardest part is the beginning when all his adds are up, being a warrior tank it was kinda hard to tank them all. However a minute or 2 after engaging garr, he starts to blow up his adds until only Garr is there and none of his adds. When theres only Garr, go afk for a 1/2 hour and he should be dead.

But to make my point more known, how many guilds were went 4/5 4-5/9 before downing Vashj and Kael?

I was just posting info: seemed like an honest question.

I suspect that the majority of guilds killed Vashj and Kael after trying out BT/Hyjal: from a practical stand-point it just makes sense to kill the 'easy' bosses before the harder ones. We saw the same thing with people going to kill Void Reaver and Lurker before killing Magtheridon. and clearing all of TK/SSC before trying Either of the end bosses. Heck, how many guilds would clear all of a'lars trash twice several times just to kill Voidreaver and then Solarian?

If anyone has a bunch of spare time they could probably get this info from Wowjutsu. Quickly scanning the numbers: it looks like majority of the guilds that haven't killed Vashj/Kael have also not gone beyond 4/5 4/9. It's pretty hard to imagine a group capable of passing those co-ordiation and DPS checks falling down to ROS/Bloodboil for any length of time.

If anything I think that shows that even now Vashj/kael are way over-tuned. Not that they're too hard for their place in progression, but that the stuff immediately before and after is substantially easier than it should be and that makes them appear completely out of place. Vashj and Kael (in their pre-nerf state) would be perfectly placed between RoS and Illidari Council. Mother Shaz and Bloodboil feel much more like they 'belong' at the end of TK/SSC than they do in the middle of BT.

The first 3 bosses of BT/Hyjal really shouldn't be there: they're just glorified loot chests for clearing T5 because they couldn't put 15 pieces of loot on Vashj/Kael. Grobbulus was the same thing: free loot for killing Patchwerk.

I have roughly 7 on my server, who started into MH/BT before even attempting Vashj/Kael and I'm sure other servers are the same.

On my server we have 6 guilds that killed Kael/Vashj (3 alliance, 3 horde) before going into BT/Hyjal. There are 14 guilds with kills of both Kael and Vashj and 35-40 guilds with kills in BT Hyjal. Some of those vashj/kael/bt/hyjal kills may be the result of one of the lower-end guild members pugging in to something run by one of the higher end guilds and scoring a kill on wowjutsu.

Might have to try him then and see what happens.

And Evn, it seems we agree, just took different paths to get to the same point. :)

Anyone has any pointers for itemizing a defense warrior? I bought all the felsteel pieces until now but with everything I have I wonder if I can start tanking the lower heroics. Atm my hp is about 11k unbuffed and 411 defense with about 10+% in dodge, parry etc... My hit rating is pretty low (around 40) but with itemizing with sta and def gems I can't really find a spot to put extra hit gems.

No armory link as my warr is logged out in pvp gear.

Just a bit of background, I have a mage also, was in a top Sunwell raiding guild on our server but I'm not in it anymore being absent for 5 months.

I always played casters in WoW, have a 61 spriest on another server but I'm a bit stuck at how to itemize my warr now. Especially when entering the lower heroics. There are a lot of KZ pickups on my server but I think my warr won't pass the gear reqs.

Problem is most def warrs I meet are already above SSC / TK gear so I have no idea how they passed the heroic / KZ bridge just after doing the normal instances.

If you want to check out my toon http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...er&n=Morded (haven't played in like 4 months now), but it's still prot spec, and in full Black Temple gear.

I would always make sure you always have 490 Defense. Gear really depends on which bosses you're going to be fighting. If you're fighting bosses like Prince, Lurker Below, Tidewalker (dodge is really good here aswell), and Vashj I would recommend gear with lots of stam (20k buffed atleast) and High Armor (20-25k), expertise is also nice to have for these fights. If you're killing bosses like Fathom Lord, Void Reaver, High Warlord Naj entus, or the adds in Akamas room I would recommend gear with block value, and expertise.

If you're fighting Bloodboil, Al'ar, Gorefiend, Gathios the Shatterer (Illidari Council), Illidan I would recommend High Armor (20-25k), High Stam(20-22k), and lots of Avoidance(65-75%) buffed.

Also Stone Shield Pots, and Iron Shield Pots are awesome for fights always have them. Food, and flasks (stam one) or fort, and agi elixirs. Also never stop using Shiled Block unless the boss doesn't crush. One thing lots of tanks forget is to use heroic stike, on almost every swing this ends up being the best form of threat for a Warrior tank.

anyone who plays on EU-Stormrage know any decent raiding guilds. I have got most of my pre-raid stuff sorted but just need to find a guild who genuinly wants to give kara and higher ends raids a go. The one im in at the moment raids every other week (not even that at times). I dont really want to pug either too much risk of not getting an item that i really need.

o and im Alliance. lvl 70 BM Hunter.

I'm on that server, my main is called Facemelt in a guild called Adrenaline although I'm currently in BT and MH I can point you in the right direction

A good site when I was lvling my warrior was Tankspot

If your looking for a gear guide for pre-kara the following link works perfectly fine. Though once you start running heroics, the badge gear from Isle is your biggest bet for the badges. Chest, Legs, Ring, Belt, is the order how I went in.

@Adamb - How much trash did ya'll have to clear? I figure the first two giants going to have be cleared, but you can take the side path along the river to bypass a good bit, but what about the trash leading up to Garr. What was duo-able and how much?

Thanks ill definitly drop you a whisper when im on next.

I went ahead and switched to prot, about 6 levels earlier than I was planning, simply because Outland seems to hate ret pallies.

I'm loving it. I ran UB and MT this morning and did pretty damn well, there were a few wipes in MT but only one was my fault (and it was an extremely stupid mistake, I admit). I've never tanked before, but I'm learning pretty quickly. It's a lot of fun. I like how much control I have over everything, rather than just trying to do a bunch of damage like when I was ret.

My gear is only what I could get off the AH, as I said I wasn't planning on switching yet so I had simply been grabbing ret gear and no prot gear.

    • Traffic has a surprisingly unexpected impact on your surroundings by Sayan Sen Image by Radik 2707 via Pexels A collaborative study by researchers from several Israeli institutions found that everyday pollution from traffic and industrial activity measurably changed the atmospheric electric field over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, providing new evidence of how human activity can influence the lower atmosphere. The research was led by Dr. Roy Yaniv of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Gertner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, Dr. Assaf Hochman of the Fredy & Nadine Herrmann Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University, and Prof. Yoav Yair of Reichman University. The study also involved Itay Froomer, a student from Hadera High School and the Israeli Museum of Medicine and Science (Technoda), who carried out the work as part of the Ministry of Education's 5-unit physics research track. The researchers focused on the atmospheric electric field under fair-weather conditions. Even in the absence of storms, a weak electric field naturally exists between Earth's surface and the atmosphere. One of the main ways scientists measure this field is through the Potential Gradient (PG), which is the inverse of the vertical component of the electric field. PG is a key part of the global electric circuit, a planet-wide system of electrical currents maintained by thunderstorms and electrified clouds around the world. Scientists have long known that the atmospheric electric field can be influenced by factors ranging from large-scale atmospheric processes to local weather conditions such as dust, fog and clouds. Human-made pollution is also known to play a role, but understanding exactly how urban emissions affect the electric field close to the ground has remained an area of ongoing research. To investigate this relationship, the team analyzed measurements from a newly installed electric field mill, an instrument used to continuously monitor the strength of the atmospheric electric field. The instrument was installed at the Center for Technological Education (Roter House) in Holon and became operational in August 2024. It was funded by Israel's Ministry of Education and the Holon municipality. The electric field mill forms part of a broader monitoring network that includes nearby meteorological stations and air-quality monitoring sites. This allowed researchers to compare electric field measurements with detailed weather data and pollution records to better understand what was driving changes in the Potential Gradient. The study focused on two major urban pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), both commonly produced by vehicle traffic and industrial activity. PM2.5 refers to microscopic airborne particles small enough to remain suspended in the atmosphere for extended periods, while NOx is a group of gases released during fuel combustion. Researchers examined daily, weekly and seasonal patterns in the atmospheric electric field and compared them with changes in pollutant concentrations. Their analysis revealed a clear relationship between NOx levels and changes in the Potential Gradient, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when traffic emissions were at their highest. “What we observe is a direct physical link between emission peaks and electrical variability,” explained Dr. Roy Yaniv. “NOx reduces atmospheric conductivity very quickly, so the electric field responds almost instantaneously during traffic rush hours.” Atmospheric conductivity describes how easily electrical charges move through the air. According to the researchers, nitrogen oxides rapidly alter this conductivity, causing a near-immediate response in the electric field. PM2.5, however, was associated with a delayed response. The researchers attributed this difference to the particles' longer atmospheric residence time, meaning they remain in the atmosphere for longer periods, as well as their different microphysical interactions with surrounding air and atmospheric components. The study also identified a pronounced "weekend effect." In Israel, traffic volumes and some industrial activity decline significantly on Fridays and Saturdays. During these periods, concentrations of both NOx and PM2.5 dropped, and corresponding changes were observed in the atmospheric electric field. “The weekend signal demonstrates just how sensitive the electric field is to changes in human activity,” the researchers noted. “When emissions decline, the electrical environment adjusts at once, providing a high-resolution indicator of urban atmospheric conditions.” The findings showed that pollution levels can influence not only the chemical composition of the atmosphere but also its electrical properties. Researchers said the results strengthened the case for using atmospheric electricity as an additional tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in densely populated urban areas where anthropogenic, or human-caused, influences are most pronounced. The study also pointed to potential public health applications. By combining air-quality measurements with observations of atmospheric electricity, researchers said they could gain a more complete picture of how urban atmospheric conditions change over time. “Integrating air-quality data with electric-field measurements gives us a clearer picture of how the lower atmosphere evolves moment by moment,” the researchers added. “It’s a framework that can support both scientific insight and practical environmental decision-making.” Beyond the scientific findings, the project highlighted a collaboration between universities, public institutions and secondary education. Researchers said the work demonstrated how students could take part in real-world environmental research while contributing to studies of air quality, atmospheric processes and their potential effects on society.
