Spare somebody telling you what has been working in raids in beta, that questions has no answer. All we can do is speculate. Nobody predicated shamans would be the best healer pre-bc going into BC.

As I previously sated, "the best" should be used lightly in WoW as it is a very time dependent term. What may be the best today may be nerfed to the point that it is the worst tomorrow.

Edit: oops, miss-quote. Oh well.

I'm thinking more and more about getting a second account for dual boxing with RAF. I was thinking of just doing a vanilla account for the 2nd account since I hate blood elves. Or is there anything in the battlechest that makes it worthwhile? I don't plan on playing the 2nd account after I'm done leveling.

Oh, and any word if the RAF bonus will apply to 60-70 after the release of Wrath?

Highly recommend it. Get a program called keyclone. Costs $20..... ;) I am currently dualboxing at lock and a priest, level 23 in 12 hours. If you only plan on multiboxing with 2 accounts, questing is faster than boosting. Boosting is much more efficient when you have level 70 boosting 2 chars, linked via RAF. They are also nerfing boosting exp come 3.0, but if you can squeeze it in time, do it and it is much faster than questing; people are hitting 70 in 2 days /played.

I just started these horde characters on the server, so I couldn't feed them money from another horde character on the server. I gave a bit from my nightelf (250g) but I am not sure if that's enough and I don't feel like doing dailies on him at all....I may have to start running the isle quests and getting 100g or so to pass along horde side. I am still using greys from character creation, because I don't bother doing quests that require me to collect things. Also, at first, I couldn't even buy their spells and only had to resort to spells that are important. Finally, I am not even bothering with professions, since they take so much time to level up and I am trying to rush 60 as soon as possible.

The quests you want to do are kill quests. So something like kill 10 of X, Y, Z. Also, any quests such as, kill person X, and bring his head back.

Also in terms of macros, you need the following on your second account: /follow focus. /target focus. /assist focus. How I have mine set up: W S A D Q E Escape Tab NumLock Enter R is not sent to the other WoW window. I keybinded F for follow, G for assist, H for target.

Another awesome thing is the granting levels. I have a 34 warrior just waiting to hit 60 and skip azeroth content. Once I hit 60 on these chars, I should have another 60 to play.

Check out www.dual-boxing.com.

The wording on the RAF FAQ pages says that the gift levels are lost when the friend char reaches level 60, so you might have to use them all when you hit 59. (I just did the same thing with my mid-thirty druid)

It's not that you lose them once you hit 60, it's you stop gaining them when you hit 60.

Did Hyjal last night. Got the trash cloak only to realize I most likely won't use it come 3.0 unless I get some more defense rating. But it'll be good to have when I do.

Hit a stone wall on Azagalor (however you spell it). First attempt, I died due to silence on the healers, probally should have popped last stand with my healthstones, but no biggie. Second attempt, I got more or less insta-gab. 3 hits for a total of 22k (ya for 30% dodge, not dodging), and only one healer healed me in those few seconds. Everyone wanted to blame it on me, and stated there was a silence (though combat logs doesn't show one), which annoyed the hell out of me. Normally if we wiped due to a tank issues, i'll be the first to admit that and say why, and figure out a way to avoid it. But last night, I honestly didn't feel like it was me. Maybe it was the RNG being random and screwing with us, but w/e it was, it was sure as hell annoying and ****ed me the hell off.

How many times do they expect you to use a cooldown?

  • First: health stone
  • second: last stand
  • third: trinket
  • forth: other trinket
  • fifth: potion (though you're probably using iron shields and can't)
  • sixth: nightmare seed

After a minute you're completely out of cool downs except for shield wall. They need to just spam max rank heals and keep a row of HOTs and shield up: when they go out of mana you're allowed to die, but not one second before that.

We ran with 3 healers on the MT (2 druids + me, spec'd with a 15% chance to avoid silence). I toss on a couple of pieces of SR and bump that to a 50% chance. If your tank died to anything less than 25k in 3 seconds (ie: you let shield block drop, melee parried him) then your healers failed. You can substitute a priest for a druid but IMO the other classes aren't as good a choice. The downtime from silence allows priests / druids to regen more mana that other classes and so they can push harder without issues. The heal-over-time thing helps.

It'd be worth them farming the trinket form MGT that gives a free 2k heal every 2 minutes. It works while silenced, doesn't cost mana, and doesn't trip global cooldown.

Full buffed you should be getting 2.5k+ per second from HOTs and you should be going into every silence with a prayer of mending / shield, if you're not full health damn near constantly then they've failed.

Before the pull: /me enters "up up down down left right left right B A".

Tripple conquerer and the staff drops.

Finally I'm 8/8.

Only got one trinket with use (moroes) other is Commendation/Shard(if i want more expertise).

First attempt, boss ignored MD (or hunter was slow to shot) and it knocked out my druid healer, so I think I had less heals on me in the first attempt. Second I honestly have no clue, I just know I did what I could to stay alive, and nothing worked.

Grats!

i am level 13 human worrior and struggling in WEST FALL at the moment and have a few tasks on the go, kill paws and some others...

they are all ranging from 14-17 in level and i'm struggling to kill anything.

everything is stronger than me... have i jumped ahead of myself?

i started in norshire abbey, done all those quests, ive done all the quests in goldshire and the woods n all the smaller surrounding areas... now i'm into westfall, completed a couple of the quests but quests surrounding sentinel hill are almost impossible for my level.... i've been into stormwind briefly.

what are my best ways for leveling and getting stronger at the moment??

what should i be doing at this stage (level 13) apart from questing?? i know you can learn professions i think i'm only an apprentice blacksmith or something, to be honest ive not paid much attention to this part.

i'm a total WOW noob so any guidance here will be of great help... do i need to go back and re trace my steps, maybe i've not learned everything i should have? pointers???

even in the earlier parts i was getting help off a mage who could just blast my enemies while i have been helplessly attacking them with a sword..

Before going into Westfall you should complete all quests available in E...... Forest. As like before, I suggest you use your abilities, you should not have problems when doing 1v1 with normal mobs (enemies (not real people)). You could lvl up cooking to get some nice buffs (like +4 spirit and stamina) before going into Westfall. If you are a blacksmith, try leveling it as much as you can (I guess you are also a miner to get the required resources). When available, try making something and then selling it. This helps you level up your BS skill and leads you to making better things.

Also, did you killed Hoggar?

Forcer: your attack sequence at level 13 should be something like this

Battle shout up at ALL times

Charge, (Auto Attack begins), 15 rage, Heroic strike, more rage, Heroic Strike, more rage, Heroic Strike....that's essentially it. Throw a Rend at the beginning too if you want to.

Regarding quests, you normally want to do quests that are yellow/green. Orange quests, I leave in my quest log until I level up and they are yellow. Red quests...don't even bother getting them until you level up a bit. 14-17 is a bit too hard for warriors... I suggest you try a mage, they are a more forgiving class than warriors. With warriors, you have no way to heal other than bandages and eat.

Mages are probably one of the best beginner classes, other than hunters...which you don't want to play :p

Anyways, try a mage and if you haven't bought the game yet/paid for a month yet, you are more than welcome to join me on my US server. I am currently in the UK until end of year, so our times may be similar and I will be more than happy to help you out. I don't lag that much, around 200-300 ms, which isn't bad.

Gotta finish up my mage, at 53 I think. Got a hunter, my first character at 70.

I'm thinking of going back and playing either Warrior/Paladin for a bit of fun as well. Any opinions on the classes?

I've not tried a healing class yet, think it would be quite a challenge to. Dunno if I want to go all out priest healing, so the pala might make for a good balance?

I play WoW for fun and party when I can - I'm not a serious player involved in any real serious guilds, as I said, just play for fun :)

I find priests are much faster than paladins. I hate 2h weapons because they are so slow with their 3.8 attack speeds, and when your attack miss/block/parry...you just sit there and watch as the health doesn't move. Shadow on the other hand is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed my priest and healing is a good break.

If you want to try tanking though, give warrior a shot. Personally, I feel main classes are more diverse/fun at their role than hybrids. Sure druids can tank, dps and heal. But druid tanking is essentially spamming 2 spells over and over again...lacerate + mangle...occasional swipe if you are multitanking. Druid healing is also boring with rejuv/regrowth/lifebloom/switmend. It is pretty boring compared to warrior tanking or priest healing. Warriors have so many abilities to use when they tank and priests have a wide range of spells not just limited to HoTs but fun ones like PoM and Shield.

That's just my opinion though and other people may disagree with me.

On another note:

We had hoped that the introduction of some new Honor rewards in the upcoming patch would give players a great opportunity to spend any of their remaining Honor. However, many players would still be surprised by an Honor and token reset as it isn?t something we?ve done in the past. As such, we've decided to not reset Honor or tokens upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King. Players who save their Honor will be able to spend it on level 80 rewards, although those rewards will be significantly more expensive than their level 70 counterparts.

Guess you can save:)p :)

Paladin is kind of slow till 40 (fastest is probably retribution). Once you get to 40, you can respec to full protection and use a shield and a 1h weapon. Killing becomes a lot faster and easier after that since you can start doing AOE. Plus, you'll always have a place for instances since you're tank spec.

I also have a shadow priest at 70. It was a lot of fun and has pretty high survivability. It's incredibly annoying though having people ask you all the time to heal instances.

I find priests are much faster than paladins.

A couple of weeks ago I was out poking around Icecrown: I saw a level 70 ret paladin in Tier 6 AOE grinding the level 80 elites.

The changes to ret make them ridiculously overpowered: they are immune to melee damage AOE, as well as a warlock, and have single target DPS that would make rogues blush.

I really don't expect them to make it to live this broken, but ret is a whole new game now.

all monsters in TBC raid instances had their health points reduced by 30%, bosses included.

Kalecgos, live: 3,700,000, PTR: 2,180,000

The change isn't confirmed by Blizzard yet. We don't know if this change will be pushed live, and we don't know when it will happen but we might see this change shipped with Patch 3.0 before the release of the expansion

If the patch goes live, I'm done raiding until Naxx 25.

  • We're killing brutallus with ~1.25-1.5 minutes left on the enrage timer. a 30% nerf makes him a 3 minute fight.
  • Felmyst normally dies in 3 air phases, a 30% HP nerf makes it reasonable to kill her before the second.
  • M'uru has us with 5-10 seconds between waves to DPS him, this would be more like 20 seconds. Phase 1 would go down to ~2.5 minutes (down from 4:50) and Entropius becomes the easiest fight the zone. Combined with sunwell radiance you'd be good to go with 5 healers

I still need 2 pieces from BT (trash ring, illidan cape) and 3 pieces from sunwell (mace/helm from KJ and muru's trinket) but it's already mind-numbing to go to BT: if they make Sunwell boring then there's no point in raiding. Maybe we could start doing alt sunwell runs?

I don't want my first kil'jaeden kill to be the easy version, and while getting buffed talents will help -- a 30% nerf across the board is just not cool.

Didn't you expect this nerf evn?

No. I figured nerfs would come, but I didn't think they would nerf HP of everything. And reports are showing every raid modified (not sure 'bout heroics) to have 30% less health. That's a massive nerf to any raiding guild and a big ****-you to any guild that's closing in on a KJ/Illidian kill.

Didn't you expect this nerf evn?

I expected a significant change or the complete removal of Sunwell Radiance:

The warm radiance of the Sunwell empowers the target, increasing its chance to hit increased by 5% and reducing the enemies' chance to dodge by 20%.

Basically it is +25% damage taken debuff that prevented you from using exploiting the extremely high avoidance that was possible.

With the changes to tanking I figured that removing that buff would counter the effects of the tanking changes to some degree.

Your tanks might take ~10% less damage than they do now which is significant, but not game breaking (especially since it doesn't

apply to M'uru or Kil'jaeden).

I expected a direct nerf to the bosses before the first gate: something along the lines of the first major Kael'thas change: -10% HP.

-30% HP to all mobs is much more significant: if it goes through it's not unreasonable to say that the zone would become

half as difficult as it sits today.
