I think it is definately more fun for people that do not have a solid Guild or Raid Group to run with; These people have to rely more on PuGs to get their gear/quests/achievments done and therefore nerfing the instances/raids will make this more within reach, and therefore more fun. However at the other end of the spectrum I can see the people involved heavilly in the game with a strong Guild/RG being annoyed that there is less of a challenge present.

I agree. There are two people in my guild now including me, but I don't care. I play for the fun, not the work aspect of the game. Besides, I thought the arenas were put in for the hardcore players. I was under the impression that's why a lot of people were upset about the proposed PvP changes. (Me, I don't care. I'll just continue the way I am and if I can't get that sooper-special purple Ravager of the Goat weapon, oh well.... :))

Yeah, I just got Kalimdor yesterday. Started working on Eastern Kingdoms...

Have you seen the Northrend exploration achievement though? You have to kill all the rare spawns I believe. x_x

Almost there for me. I have a few E. Kingdoms spots left to explore. I finished the full candy run last night though. We trashed the Headless Horseman and I got the punkin pet, too. :)

Naxx is meant to be undertuned.

I don't mean "it's not the way I remember it", I mean "even for a 'welcome to raiding' instance" it's too easy. The same way that the first 4 bosses of Hyjal and BT were undertuned and the same way that all content is now. There is no challenge or progression in difficulty - the entire zone is a huge joke even when you're running with pugs*. There is no "Netherspite" encounter where you think that there's a chance you could fail.

Gruul was a huge DPS challange and rather luck based on release, while Magtheridon (needed for SSC) was pure LOL for new players.. 4 groups of 5 rotations on the cubes?

Gruul was a consumables challenge, nothing more. If you could afford to toss 100k gold at the auction house, and weren't completely clueless you could kill him. You're also vastly overstating the difficulty of Magtheridon. He was an extremely challenging encounter at one point but not because of the DPS/Tanking/Healing requirements: it was the raid stacking and add control.

Originally cubes were 2 groups of 5 but clicking gave the debuff. He was patched to prevent you from getting the cube debuff until he was banished (which was way more forgiving of lag, miss-clicks, getting bounced, etc). It wasn't until 2.4 that they made him super easy mode.

Instead WotLK is having a learning curve, Naxx is way too easy.. then the next instance alittle harder, until you get to the end instance which is sunwell difficulty. (The only problem with that is hardcore players are pretty screwed at release, as they have no hard content waiting for them :p)

I understand that: the problem is that even as an introductory raid the content is busted. It should be tuned to require 25 not being AFK but not necessarily great players. The way it is now, it feels like you could 15 man the zone wearing Sunwell gear without any trouble at all. There are a couple of checks (notably: Gluth) but for the most part the zone is free loot.

If Naxx goes live as it is on beta then Uldar had better be ready to go in the first half of January or they end up with the same problem they did with the BT->Sunwell gap.

* Granted: pugging on beta is 1000x better than it'll ever be on Live?

The 2 groups of 5 was a later version of Magtheridon. The release version (pre SSC/TK attunement dropped) it was four groups, with higher HP on adds and more infernals.. Then they nerfed it when they dropped the SSC/TK attunements to a level where newer guilds could kill him (Then finally they nerfed it to hardly any infernals and no debuff).

and the Release version was a consumable boss but it was also just luck weither you got him down that attempt.. As you would always get to a point where he could one-shot your tank at any moment.

Does anyone have the rest of scarlet set i can have (will pay of course), AH isn't any help :p

I have:

Belt, Gauntlets and wristguard

I need:

Boots, chestpeice and leggings

that or recommend a new set for a level 35 36 warrior dwarf :p

Edit: I randomly don't have any talent points spent so i have 27 to spend, anyone recommend what i spend them on ? before i randomly clicked :p

The relevant abilities are:

  • Blast Nova: 60 sec CD, about 2,500 damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds to every player in the lair
When the channel breaks, the player receives the 90 sec Mind Exhaustion debuff

If you can find alternate information for them, I'd love to see them but neither wowwiki nor wowhead have longer durations for mind exhaustion or shorter cooldowns for blast nova.

He was first killed by Nihlium on Feb 25: a video of that encounter shows Awake click the cubes twice in 2 minutes. That demonstrates that more than 2 cube groups has never been a requirement for a kill.

Given how different our experiences for Magtheridon are, I'm not willing to argue this one out in detail (because so much of it is opinion). But if you go back and read the Gruul thread from elitist jerks (Titled "Dealing with Shatter" or something like that) you'll see a large portion of the raid community arguing that the fight is a consumable extravaganza and little else.

While luck certainly played some roll in the encounter (bad punts) dealing with shatter damage was the key mechanic: if you got lucky, great! but that wasn't the way you were expected to win.

Install Quartz... very good addon cast bars.

Thanks! On top of that, I tried looking for that casting bar again this morning to get a fresh look at it, and I found it was Dominos (my action bars) replacement for a timer. I just disabled that and enabled Quartz. It fits with the rest of my UI perfectly!

Thank you!

Finally figured out my Affliction warlock spec. I had to respec twice, lol. Imp? No more. Felhunter all the way, baby. Getting back up to ~1000 dps (recount) and 1st or 2nd damage done in instances/kara runs.

What about those Retribution Pallys huh? They are tearing up in PvE and PvP right now. Makes me wonder if I could pull it off with my Pally. Too bad I have all Tank and Healing gear.

Anyway, other than raids the end-game isn't as much fun with an expansion looming over the horizon. So I've been leveling a Priest and Warrior :).

I had my spirit wolves decimate a paladin in Alterac Valley yesterday. All I did was stand there and watch while he was mauled to death. :)

Don't forget to create a macro and /hug your enemies to death before they release their corpse. It'll give you an achievement!

as long as its not a huge nerf then its ok. if it goes back to the way it was prior to the patch then that'd be a shame because it wasnt good at all. there was a reason everyone went "lol ret".

Now everyone is like OMG RET PALLY!

Gear dependency, and player skill level aside; I don't think it is right that a hybrid class can easily out-dps a pure dps class (which I consider to be Warlock, Mage, Rogue, and Hunter). From the groups I've been in, Fury Warriors and Ret Pallys have been literally raping DPS since the patch, and do need to get hit by the nerf stick IMHO. Hopefully Ret Pallys aren't nerfed to their spot pre-patch which did have laughable dps.

ya at this point

i don't even see the point in having a rogue if a pally can dish out the same DPS

a ret pally can bring buffs, auras and DI

a rogue brings two swords

hmmm

who is going to fill that last DPS spot now?

So they decide to fix my favorite spec after I leave

Oh well, I may be back. Only time will tell.

Don't come back yet..

Seriously.

The game is broken right now.

Rogues, like me.. are getting spotted MILES away from where they should be spotted.. moonblast breaks stealth among other things.. and there's a whole lot more going on thats just .. broken .. :(

    • I use Gemini in my rotation of AI clients...that work pays for. It is good at most things, better than copilot for imgage searching and making images, worse at writing vs Claude and way worse at hadling technical issues when it comes to Azure stuff. I also use YT premium and maps. Anything else Google is a pass for me. I have now seen multiple people locked out of their Google accounts for reasons that are just very vauge.
    • Microsoft is building an AI datacenter that "uses less water than a fast food restaurant" by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to build a new datacenter campus in Pecos, Texas, as the company continues to invest billions in AI infrastructure. The new facility, called project Kilby, will reportedly have a capacity of 2 gigawatts and will be one of the largest single capacity additions in the company’s history. To power the campus, Microsoft signed a 20-year deal with Chevron to supply natural gas from the Permian Basin, America's largest oil field. This deal is set to become the largest collaboration to date between a U.S. oil and gas giant and Big Tech. It’s no secret that Big Tech has often been criticized for exploiting natural resources for its AI developments. Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of that negative consensus by promising to build its own power supply for the new datacenter, independent of the public grid. The Pecos datacenter will be powered by a power plant hub, built by Chevron, with up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-fired capacity, with potential to scale to up to 5 gigawatts. The facility will include at least seven GE Vernova turbines, with first power potentially coming online as early as late 2027 or early 2028. The power plant hub is part of an approximately $7 billion investment by Chevron, making it one of the largest dedicated energy projects tied to a single datacenter campus in the U.S. Microsoft hasn’t publicly disclosed the amount it’s investing in the new datacenter. Microsoft has also committed to implementing a closed-loop cooling system that will only require an initial water charge to operate. The company said that “the total lifecycle water use of this datacenter is only a fraction of that consumed annually by a typical fast-food restaurant.” What the press release doesn’t mention, however, is how much water the natural gas plant itself will consume, or how a 20-year fossil fuel commitment squares with the company's pledge to be carbon negative by 2030. The construction of the new datacenter should provide over 6,000 construction jobs at peak build-out, and create hundreds of operational job roles once the facility is built. Via: Reuters
    • A lot of uncertainty in this story. Might. Could. Maybe. The truth is we don't know what will happen to the universe in the end, or if it will end. Our own Milky Way galaxy will merge with the Andromeda galaxy in about 2.5 billion years, with our solar system as part of a new, larger cluster. I guess we'll have to and see how it goes down.
    • While people can rely on text expansion, it'd be nice to be able to save prompts as aliases. Since AI chatbots need so much provided context to lessen the chance of them going off rails in their response, it'd be nice to be able to start your prompt with a command word that provides all the necessary context that you find yourself often providing. I know there are 'memory' features, including in Gemini, but I still find myself needing to tell it things in each specific conversation for it to give appropriate responses in many contexts. For example, I have it in the memory that I'm running Fedora 44 KDE Plasma 6.7 yet Gemini constantly gives me instructions for older versions. Once I remind it what I'm running, it corrects itself. This isn't something I should need to do every time I prompt it about my setup.
