If I do ditch it I've always thought engineering looked fun, you can make a lot of novelty things with it :p

Aren't the motorbikes made through it?

My best friends a JC/Inscription, so he can provide me with the jewels (although I assume some are BOP) and stuff which may make BS worthwhile keeping on, I dunno, I'll just wait till I hit 80 and decide.

Just as an example, Titansteel Destroyer is a fairly popular Mace crafted by Blacksmiths - Doesn't cost that much and it's a nice starter weapon if you didn't have access to Heroics etc. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41257

With the introduction of ICC, you can get easy access to better weapons through the Normal version of PoS http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49802 http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49839 and it's the same across the board with every item they make today. So unless you have raid Blacksmithing plans or access to some well expensive material, doing Blacksmithing as a casual player for gear mainly is a waste.

You're right Sethos and that's the Mace I was talking about. It will really only be good for when you're still gearing your way up to running the ICC 5-mans. Once you get in there, you'll get better stuff, but until then it's useful, if limited.

Engineering is ok - but serves a limited purpose I feel. I only keep it to craft my own ammo.

As for the bike mount, some of the mats only an engineer can buy and they are 12,500g before you add things like Titansteel. Plus anyone can ride it...not just engineers :) - Expect to pay around 16,000 gold though.

As for professions, if you want gold - gathering professions all they way.

That's the point, you can do PoS Normal with abysmal gear so you paying around 1000g or spending hours and hours farming for that mace is a massive waste of time.

He can basically just join up as soon as he dings 80 and get either one of those weapons with the new LFG system.

I take your points...

For casual play maybe I am better with something like engineering (Y)

As Paul said; gathering professions all the way.

In this day and age I don't even bother with the crafting professions - Takes too much time and money to reach a point where it'll actually offer a decent return.

Especially for casual players like us, the time we need to invest is basically our entire playtime per week for the next 3 months to get somewhere.

Well I was considering enchanting as well, cause when I'm 80 I'm gonna re-run all the old instances I can I never got to experience and I'm gonna pickup a **** load of BOP loot.

Enchanting is good, it will be nice to have at 80 when you're changing gear out quite a bit as new content comes out.

Worthwhile just keeping mining you think with enchanting and selling off my ore? I am going to somehow need to save up for all this epic flying training :p

Enchanting and tailoring even are easy to level imo if you have friends to help contribute. Since you can use the LFD tool now, everything that got DE'd would be given to me, along with any cloth that was no longer being used by them for their First Aid.

The instances will net you tons of mats for both of these professions. Made leveling easy, but forced me to go to the AH on occasion as clearing out my bank was necessary for old mats. Overall, it was a good deal considering I returned the favor with enchants for my friends.

Not to mention, to refrain from wasting materials by enchanting the same items over and over, I offered them for free to others, simply saying "Tips appreciated". Basically, you're get paid to level it. :)

Also, enchanting your stuff on Armor/Weapon vellums makes it easy to put things like Enchant Boots - Minor Speed (sells on avg. 35g) and Enchant Weapon - Fiery (75g) in the AH for a good return.

I think I'm keeping mining for sure, cannot be arsed levelling it again if I ever change my mind in the future :p

My mage done enchating/tailoring and it was a great combo, but tailoring would suck for a paladin, but I know it's just for money making.

As I said enchanting seems logical for now at 80, I have lots of old instances to run I never seen and I have this thing where I feel good tackling an instance myself :p Just a casual play element I guess. It'll help me learn how to use prot as well, as I've been ret till now.

Oh, I know. I'm just saying for others who might be interested. :p

There is my Hunter. Love playing as one. Right now i'm getting emblems to get heirloom gear for my Priest. Still undecided if I want to do heals or DPS. It's hard getting in to ICC now with a hunter, everyone is always asking for Priest/Mage/Lock :(

You cannot hit 80 and just join PoS you would have to gear up some first and if you join with the minimum gearscore required you're likely to get kicked.

I got my first piece of tier 10 today and it looks awesome.

This is my character and before anyone makes a joke about it being a death knight and that I don't have another 80 that isn't a DK, I am not one of those terrible dks that just wanted to have a character start at 55 I do more dps than the majority of the heroic groups I'm in and can do 3.5k unbuffed single target so I know what I'm doing even though I'm a dk.

Bit cheap on the old gear enchants though eh?

My current main char, and my favourite class/spec so far. In and out of activity lately due to uni and stuff but still play occasionally.

Your gear isn't too bad, just some bad gemming and lots of missing enchants.

I'm up to 5 80's all with mostly 232 or better gear, nothing super great. My current work + family schedule keeps me from any real raiding so I do what I can :(.

Don't have the money to buy mats to get someone to do it and i'm really unlucky with rolls so i hardly ever win on disenchant rolls.

Do some dailies. It's really simple now to make gold, between dailies and just the pay out from running random heroics it piles up pretty quickly.

    • You're absolutely right! No reason in hell these should be on the road!
    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
