So finally just before reset my guild decides to do an ICC10 run. We saved lock from Last reset as we were on the LK on Thursday so we had 1 full night of trying to learn the fight (was annoying as they kept changing tactics and didnt stick with the one that looked the most promising :\ ) ... in the end we didnt get him down however non of us had a raid ID.... I am guessing you need to down something once you have extended the raid id to actually get saved with it after reset or something.

If you kill all the other bosses you can pull Lich King as many times as you want. If there are any bosses left you will be saved as soon as you port to Saurfang.

Learned the hard way last week when I extended a raid ID to try and draw up a 'map' in AVR for heroic blood princes.

I am confident once we kill the LK we will be clearing it in 1 night and doing the HC version on the second night we raid.

Heroic and normal share a lock out. If you go in and kill the first two bosses on normal mode you can then switch it to heroic mode while you're in the instance and then do gunship on heroic. Once you've got your free loot you can switch it back to normal mode and continue.

It doesn't work like ToC/TOGC, it's more like Ulduar except you switch the difficultly the same way you'd change a dungeon/raid difficulty rather than "pressing the button" or whatever to activate hard mode.

Aww pants, cheers for clearing it up though, thats a bit of a shame :(

Anyone here got the Sea Turtle mount??

i'm farming it now

my goals before Cataclysm:

Sea Turtle mount

ZG Tiger mount

2 Pieces of t10 (i don't raid so this is a challenge for me :pinch: )

my warrior has reached all her LK goals

...

wait

except 1. trying to get the Green Proto Drake lol

Yup

Dailys = 2 Frost Badges a day (14 per week)

Weeklys = 5 Frost Badges a Week

VoA10/25 = 2 Frost badges in each so thats 4 in total in 1 week.

Without Raiding in a proper ICC run and just running 1 Weekly raid (weather this is icc10 for morrowgar or whatever) you end up with 23 Badges per week and a possibilty of getting either 251/264 Legs/Hands in VoA ... in addition to some free pvp gear.

i don't raid because i don't want to dedicated 3-4 hours 3-4 days a week anymore

although my fiancee and i are considering starting up again in Cataclysm

Make friends, organize a group and use your time wisely. You can clear ICC (and learn all the content as you go) in a single 4-hour sitting.

The above is more true now than ever because you can spend 2 weeks on a single raid lockout and learn new content as you go.

You're probably not going to do 25-man ICC on a schedule like that because most people want to play more than 4 hours a week, but

there's no reason you couldn't have a good 10-man strict group.

sorry

i don't think i said what i wanted to say

i've raided before way back in classic WoW and a little bit in BC

i know how to manage my time in the game and my fiancee and i have been with this guild for a long time and we have a lot of friends in this guild and on our server. we could do tons of sutff like their off night runs in ToGC and alt runs in ICC. we just don't want to right now.

the pace that i set for myself is the pace that i want

i just don't want to raid right now

i know there are tons of options to expedite how quickly i gear up but i'm just not interested in that at the moment

if i reach my goals great. if i don't that's fine. i didn't quite hit my goals in BC either (missed my Hand of A'dal title)

Hi,

Sorry for the noob question but if I purchase a prepaid card (say for 60 days) does it mean that it will expire exactly 60 days after I activate it even if I don't play every single hour ? or is time being consumed only when I log in ?

Thks :)

It is realtime, not game time. So yes, it will expire 60 days after it is activated.

Not sure where else to put this...

But, I can't remember how many eons ago I mentioned I got a WoW Mouse ...

Well.. However long ago it was:

Take that time.. to today:

Still works like a charm though.

Edit:

Went back as FAR as I could...

Page 187.

7 Months ago. Posted 04 September 2009, I bought the mouse.

I see you got some graham cracker dust in the buttons, :-)

I've just got a little Microsoft Comfort Optical 3000 mouse. It's basically your standard mouse with one side button, and it's slightly more ergonomically shaped than a normal mouse. Only thing I really don't like is that the scroll wheel does not click, it's a smooth scrolling mouse. So when I'm playing a FPS like Unreal and I go to change weapons, it's hard to only go one weapon at a time. Normally it's like "one wheel click is one weapon" but with this smooth scroller sometimes I'll jump 2 or 3 weapons down the list if I'm not careful.

Ugh has this **** got more prominent since 3.2? Was tempted to come back but if pug dribbler is crying about gear scores I'll pass.

It's a completely mess on shadow moon. If you have some friends and pretty much keep to yourselves it's easy enough to ignore.

If you rely on trade chat to raid then you're probably in for a world of hurt. The groups are either jerks looking for hand outs or

people who have no idea how to run a raid trying to organize a group.

For the most part my guild has just started doing runs by 'pugging' internally. "Hey, anybody have unsaved chars for ICC?"

and if you can get 8/10 or 20/25 then you just go do the raid short handed. I hate to say it, but I think blizzards policy of

"bring the person, not the class" has been distorted to "bring the gear not the person" by nearly everybody. Heading in to

trade chat to fill the spots isn't worth the pain of dealing with goons so we tend to do runs short-handed quite a bit.

We had 9 people online in the guild during a raid night Thursday just gone so we said what the hell lets just start off ICC10 and see how far we get with 9...

At first boss one of our dps goes afk... Got sick of waiting so we start Marrowgar anyways and 8 man him... keeping the afk guy alive at the same time (lol). On the Lady a severly undergeared mage comes online that... 2.8k GS perhaps I could not recall his GS however once the night was over I can safely say it must have jumped atleast by 1.5kGS - 2kGS. Boosted him up to Sindragosa but then failed due to one healer failing to run away after getting sucked in time after time... (the guy is a bad omen for us, every time he is not here we down her and when he is he always fails. No one dares says anything to him as his farther is in the guild too :( .... annoying.)

Was a half decent night, we clocked up a time of 2:41 on rotface and that was with the mage only doing around 2k dps :\ ... The guildies have asked if all the regular players could turn up for next week as they really want the LK down... possilbe set a few new guild speed records on the bosses.

I was told by someone that a Pally healer has solo healed the first 2 wings... not sure if this imformation was true or not can anyone confirm?

I think that's just one of those "Pallies are OP" hyperboles. I'm sure they couldn't even make it through trash.

Ive solo healed marrowgar from 87%-0% on my Pally, I do not see why this could not be possible (as long as group is decent with half decent tanks and dps)... Some said there was a video on wowmovies or something however it is blocked here at work.

We're continuing to refine the raid progression paths in Cataclysm, and we'd like to share some of those changes with you today. Please enjoy!

The first of the refinements being made is that we're combining all raid sizes and difficulties into a single lockout. Unlike today, 10- and 25-player modes of a single raid will share the same lockout. You can defeat each raid boss once per week per character. In other words, if you wanted to do both a 10- and 25-person raid in a single week, you’d need to do so on two different characters. Normal versus Heroic mode will be chosen on a per-boss basis in Cataclysm raids, the same way it works in Icecrown Citadel. Obviously the raid lockout change doesn't apply in pure Icecrown terms though, as this change goes hand-in-hand with a few other changes to raid progression in Cataclysm.

We're designing and balancing raids so that the difficulty between 10- and 25-player versions of each difficulty will be as close as possible to each other as we can achieve. That closeness in difficulty also means that we'll have bosses dropping the same items in 10- and 25-player raids of each difficulty. They'll have the same name and same stats; they are in fact the exact same items. Choosing Heroic mode will drop a scaled-up version of those items. Our hope is that players will be able to associate bosses with their loot tables and even associate specific artwork with specific item names to a far greater extent than today.

Dungeon Difficulty and Rewards

10 and 25-player (Normal difficulty) -- Very similar to one another in difficulty; drop the exact same items as each other.

10 and 25-player (Heroic difficulty) -- Very similar to one another in difficulty; drop more powerful versions of the normal-difficulty items.

We of course recognize the logistical realities of organizing larger groups of people, so while the loot quality will not change, 25-player versions will drop a higher quantity of loot per player (items, but also badges, and even gold), making it a more efficient route if you're able to gather the people. The raid designers are designing encounters with these changes in mind, and the class designers are making class changes to help make 10-person groups easier to build. Running 25-player raids will be a bit more lucrative, as should be expected, but if for a week or two you need to do 10s because half the guild is away on vacation, you can do that and not suffer a dramatic loss to your ability to get the items you want.

We recognize that very long raids can be a barrier for some players, but we also want to provide enough encounters for the experience to feel epic. For the first few raid tiers, our plan is to provide multiple smaller raids. Instead of one raid with eleven bosses, you might have a five-boss raid as well as a six-boss raid. All of these bosses would drop the same item level gear, but the dungeons themselves being different environments will provide some variety in location and visual style, as well as separate raid lockouts. Think of how you could raid Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep separately, but you might still want to hit both every week.

We do like how gating bosses over time allows the community to focus on individual encounters instead of just racing to the end boss, so we’re likely to keep that design moving forward. We don't plan to impose attempt limitations again though, except maybe in cases of rare optional bosses (like Algalon). Heroic mode may not be open from day one, but will become available after defeating normal mode perhaps as little as once or twice.

In terms of tuning, we want groups to be able to jump into the first raids pretty quickly, but we also don’t want them to overshadow the Heroic 5-player dungeons and more powerful quest rewards. We’ll be designing the first few raid zones assuming that players have accumulated some blue gear from dungeons, crafted equipment, or quest rewards. In general, we want you and your guild members to participate in and enjoy the level up experience.

We design our raids to be accessible to a broad spectrum of players, so we want groups to be able to make the decision about whether to attempt the normal or Heroic versions of raids pretty quickly. The goal with all of these changes is to make it as much of a choice or effect of circumstance whether you raid as a group of 10 or as a group of 25 as possible. Whether you're a big guild or a small guild the choice won't be dependent on what items drop, but instead on what you enjoy the most.

We realize that with any changes to progression pathways there are going to be questions. We're eagerly awaiting any that we may have left unanswered. To the comments!

TL;DR version courtesy of MMO Champion.

ataclysm will change a couple of things to the raiding system apparently. "Too long didn't read" version:

10-Man and 25-Man raids will share the same lockout.

10-Man and 25-Man raids difficulty will be as close as possible to each other.

10-Man and 25-Man raids will drop the exact same loot, but 25-man will drop a higher quantity of items.

Normal versus Heroic mode will be chosen on a per-boss basis in Cataclysm raids, the same way it works in Icecrown Citadel

Oh, I misread. I missed the "healed" part. No, solo healing the first two wings is maybe possible (I've solo healed the first wing in 10m), but that guy has to be seriously on top of stuff.

Yup, watched that video today. Most fights didn't last 2 minutes

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
