I've been looking for a good addon that identifies when procs go off visually. I found Power Auras Classic but it has not been updated since December and doesn't seem to function properly. Does anyone have a good suggestion for something similar? Specifically I used a DK and I want to receive a big huge notification when Killing Machine procs.

TellMeWhen or SexyCooldown.

That help?

Trying to cram a working UI onto my notebook's screen I tried to cut back the addons I used. Right now I'm just using Satrina Buff Frames

with some custom filters to get the effect of classtimers/powerauras/etc. without needing to configure yet another addon. I'm already using

SBF for buffs and debuffs.

I've been just moving SBF with a couple of bars that show when procs I care about are up (or down in the case of things like horn of winter).

Here's a quick demo on my mage that shows missle barrage/quad core/arcane power/icey veins under the cast bar.

Debuffs I'm concerned with go on the opposite side (scorch/living bomb/slow, or diseases for a DK).

I have a third frame that you don't see which shows things I can spell steal from NPCs or debuffs I can remove on friendly players when they're

my target. Going this route allowed me to get all of the cooldown alerts out of my scrolling combat notifications. Now my notifications area can

scroll more slowly and be larger because it's not cluttered with "OMG You got Buffs" -- it's easier to see things like which color ooze I have to

kill or who I have to bite when I'm a vampire.

Example: http://gallery.me.com/colinstein#100345

You'll notice some weird stuff like an iceblock and wotf for no reason: I just wanted to make sure all the timers for those things were displayed

correctly. I'm still setting up the row of little cooldowns so abilities were sort of stuffed in there just to fill it up.

Honestly i hope they do the beta like they are for starcraft and after a while just allow anyone that preorders it to get in, that would be cool.

It's probably not necessary. The only reason to invite that many people for testing is when you're stress testing servers. Since StarCraft 2 has brand-new infrastructure, they'd be wanting to test to make sure it'll hold up okay for launch. WoW's architecture on the other hand is already quite mature so the only reason for F&F Alphas and Beta is to get feedback on the content and changes that they've made from people who've never seen any of it yet.

And yes, the NDA is still in effect, does cover saying if you're in it, and no doubt Blizzard does care about people blatantly flaunting it.

Just about all the stuff I've seen posted around (read: mmo-champ) have been taken using a small sandbox server; I don't think I've seen more than a couple of pics from the actual servers (not that I've been looking for them, anyway).

Just started playing again, Recovered my account with tech support and got 7 days free xD Pleased i still have all my armor/gold etc ^.^ (all 2100g of it)

If your on dentarg server look me up ;) Bosrin

Looking to do a re-roll here shortly (RaF) and for Cata future, anyone got some good servers? Alliance/Horde doesn't matter as none of us has a preference, just wanna go somewhere to level up toons and do some casual, but focused, raiding.

Undermine Alliance wins Wintergrasp 75% of the time..

So i'm debating whether to make my DK alliance or horde. I've been horde since i started playing, and i am not sure if i could stand leveling another character on the horde side so soon after hitting 80 with my warr, but at the same time if i go alliance i'm not sure if i'll even have a guild, and i won't have any money, heirlooms, or the like to help me out. There's a abundance of DKs in the game and i imagine that all the alliance guilds that needed a DK have a DK, at least if i go horde i can get into the same guild as my main and be sure to raid if i get geared.

Actually, you can mail your heirloom gear from horde to alliance and vice versa as long as they are on the same account. Heirloom gear is considered "Bind to Account" so you can send it to any toon, on any faction. As for the money, that takes a bit of finesse to accomplish. You basically have your alliance toon set up an auction on a neutral AH, then have a friend buy it from their horde toon (you can't buy your own auctions) and the money goes to your alliance toon, minus the AH costs.

As for choosing Horde or Alliance, it's a personal preference. I had all my toons Horde and just had my DK Alliance. I would rarely play my DK after hitting 80, so I just removed it and haven't made another since.

Last I heard I thought they stop'd you from doing that?

    • This got me thinking, would you rather a self driving car prioritise protecting its passengers or everyone else? I'd choose the one that keeps me and my kids safest. At some point, these cars have to make those choices already, don't they? Wonder if we have a way to find out what way they lean.
    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.
    • Each of the devices displayed on this page now has a little volume meter next to it to show if there is audio actively playing. About time.
    • Owing to the nature of Windows feature enablement updates, it was distributed over Windows Update services as a complete system upgrade rather than as an ordinary cumulative update
