half way through level 79, can't wait to get home and hit 80, ice storm or whatever it's called is boring me to death.

Do the ICC dungeons not appear until 80? I got a forge of souls dungeon quest as soon as i got to Dalaran but its not in the dungeon finder.

Are there any good guides online for help on what to do when you hit 80? i know i only have a few days before cata, looks like i'll miss out on the WOTLK raids?

They appear if you look in "Specific dungeons" it tells you why you can't get in. Usually down to gear score. It will tell you yours if you hover over it and what you need to get.

The quest says enter the Forge of Souls east of the ICC (or something along those lines) the forge of souls is definitely not in my specific dungeon finger, not even listed.. I asked in Dalaran and someone said you need to be level 80. But i have level 80 dungeons already there. The other dungeon i got was Violet Hold, this worked fine. :s

just a question when comes the dec 7 will there more things i need to download and update like the game or will i just need to login and play? i understand if there are updates but what about the new game? i have all three packs and all updates as of today..

to get the 7th dec extras you need to go out and buy the disk? if you want to play the minute it goes live you can buy the digital pre-sale off blizzard afaik

Think of it this way: everyone gets Cataclysm. Yes, everyone. However, there are things that are not activated until someone purchases Cataclysm thereby upgrading their account. What people pay for is the new professions, zones, increased level cap, etc. What you and everyone else should have downloaded is Cataclysm in it's fullest, to reiterate, even people who do not purchase and upgrade their account essentially have Cataclysm already. Their account just isn't upgraded to be able to zone into new places, or level past 80.

There will still be a small patch deployed just after midnight on the 7th, as I've heard, although I don't know what exactly it'll contain.

yep cata is one of the biggest "free" content patches i've seen in an mmo to date, and l2 content updates were pretty large(pretty close to being on par with other wow expansions).

i just argued with an aion fanboy who tried to tell me assault on balurea was bigger than any wow expansion, after the CM tried to say again how they totally could've charged for it. it's 2.5 zones(one zone in the middle people only travel through) 5 levels and 2 dungeons. i don't think any of them have played any other mmo's in their lives though, because even compared to other mmo's free content updates it's pretty small.

i went exploring last night and swam across 1k needles. it really showed off the new water nicely, though i saw some better examples while riding on flight paths. unfortunately the whale shark was already dead so i couldn't attempt to solo it.

wowscrnshot120110192308.jpg

ran around getting the new flight paths in STV and else where. stv being my favourite vanilla zone to level in for the world pvp. it seems they've broken it up into two zones and added an extra flight path to each, but it's mostly the same(except for a new alliance base in northern STV). booty bay seems exactly the same, even with those old low res textures on teh teeth at the entrance.

gadgetstan is a bit different. no more camping the alliance flight path i guess as they've been moved in side the walls. a lvl 70 space alien shammy was following me around for a bit starting and stopping casting his nukes for some reason. was tempted to one shot him with AB spam but didn't want to pay the repair bills as i'm trying to save gold right now.

went to southshore and was disapointed that my favourite rp pvp hotspot is now gone. the inn is still there but the chairs all gone so no more rolling in killing all the NPCs and sitting down for some /s rp about the greatest steak outside of TB and letting lowbies kill themselves on my molten armour. :'(

the canyon in the barrens comes right of now where and almost feel right into the lava. didn't stick around to figure out a way to cross but i bet it's a real PITA for lowbies to get around.

I've just hit level 80 so am spending some time improving my character (warrior). Whats all this reforging and enchanting business? i know how to reforge but dont follow how i can hit the stats needed. I don't have many items at level 200 yet so should i leave this for now?

Also enchanting, how do i do that to my gear?

What is the best way to get high level items 180+.. i got some 200s but there wasnt much on the AH and i've rinsed 1000s of gold and its only gave me a level of 160 :(

Any advice on 80. Should i just be hitting the random dungeon queue now? I could do with a guide or something

I just hit 80 last night myself. 6 days played time!!!!

My ilevel when I started at 78 last night was 162, by the time I hit 3 instances and was 79 3/4 my ilevel was 178, and honestly the only thing that is keeping me from getting the 180 I need to start doing some of those dungeons is both of my trinkets are like 138 ilevel.. I need to find better trinkets and I would be good to go.

If you just hit 80 and have ilvl 180 items I guess you're not in a guild. So the best way for you to gear up is : Heroics, Heroics, Heroics => Justice Points, Justice Points, Justice Points => Buy T10 set in Dalaran (ilvl 251).

OR, if you've already bought Cataclysm just wait for Tuesday and you'll be outgearing lvl 80 with greens (you'll have to wait for lvl 82/83 to outgear 80's last tier though)

i need to try and grind my paladin from 60-80 this weekend.

i got it to 60, then started a DK and enjoyed that more :/

then they changed DK and i hate it now :p

FROST TANK BEST TANK, being very new at the game, i find it hard to tank lots of mobs with blood spec as there just isnt enough AOE/Crowd Control to compete with things like high geared mages.

i did get the DK full T10 and its gearscore is about 5200... my friend did play on my dk like and said its my technique thats the issue and that im just not used to wow mechanics?

so im back to grinding the paladin for now :p

Look at my previous post for the "How do I get my gear ?" part. Also NEVER buy gear from the AH. Unless you're RPing and need some rare piece that has like 2% drop rate, it just isn't worth it (and then it becomes extremely expensive, I've sold a low-level green for 150g and it wasn't even that rare). If it's crafted, get the mats and ask someone to craft it for you. If it's dropped, grind it. If it's sold by a vendor for JP, grind JPs and buy it. If you've just hit 80, my guess is you don't have a lot of money, so spend it on things that are actually worth it (flying, respecs, flasks, repairs, etc ... it quickly adds up)

As for enchants (and gems), I really don't recommend enchanting your gear right now. You'll be replacing it anyway (either from Heroics or from Cataclysm quests), but it you need to know : you either ask an enchanter to do it for you by sending him the piece you want to enchant and the name of the enchant you want, or you buy it and do it yourself.

+1

i've made about 2k gold and gotten an avg item level of 204 in around 2 weeks of casual 5man farming. but at this point cataclysm releases on tuesday so i wouldn't even worry about it. you'll replace all your gear by 81 from what i hear.

i did a bg last night and i still hit like a wetnoodle in that ****. forgot to changed into my frost spec but still it would not have helped much. i was gettting one shotted by magic missile.

I am in a guild, a member was kind enough to help me get up to level 184, crafting my gear for free, and then offered some advice, ok it cost me over 1k gold to get a good trinket (my last weak point) and a few mats from the AH but i'm up to date now. Just done my first heroics with my guild :) bit gutted i can't afford artisan flying now but never mind :(

here's my dude: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aggramar&cn=Forcer

anything else i can do to improve?

Do not worry about it Uplift once you start hardcore doing Heroic dungeons you are going to make a lot of money rather quickly. So long as you do not die alot and have to pay for repairs.

ouch why would you spend hard earned gold on gear when you can quickly farm better than craft/BOE gear from 5mans quickly? even bg farming with super long quues and the enter bg bug that ppl are bitching about right now is faster and easier than spending thousands on crafted gear and BOE stuff.

and you'll replace it early next week too.

artisan flying is forever though.

should never be spending gold on gear directly imho. enchants yeah sure, spend the cash to twink that **** out, but there is no piece of actual gear worth 1k gold, that's better than something BOP you can farm with points in a week or two. unless you have like 20k g or something and all your essential money sinks paid out.

anyways, don't be surprised if you can afford artisan flying before you hit 85. flight license(flying in azeroth) is only 250 g apparently.

Well i could still be waiting a while doing the random 5mans all depends on drops and rolls. The guy who helped me even said he wouldnt buy it but it would fix me. so i went for it. still have a few k gold to put me over :)

i only had 1 dungeon in log but couldnt do it because of low level gear

^ Exactly what I was pointing out. The only things you should be spending your money on are : Skills (Flying, Professions, ...), Enchants/Gems/Glyphs, Consumables and Repairs. Don't buy gear, you're just wasting your money. By the way, if you want to make gold you MUST use the AH and milk you professions. I had my 280% flying days after dinging 80 and my 310% one month or so ago, and I've been playing on this character (main and first ever) for 19 days with 3 days as level 80 (this is the actual time /played). The key is knowing what you do and spending only what you absolutely need to spend (I learnt that the hard way, wasting all my Triumph Emblems on crap gear). As of now, I stoped all activity on this character, she's just waiting near the Flying Trainer in SW to learn flying in Azeroth and get the MH quest when Cata hits =D

Yeah, the best gear in the game is always free, however, when leveling there are sometimes reasons to purchase gear. and Honestly there are not many reasons anymore to spend money at all. Especially once you get to 80 have epic flying have 310 flying and all that stuff. I do not rightly care for the fancy 19k mounts and stuff so I just have a ton of gold and nothing to spend it on. Most likely i will camp the AH come Cata and max out my Tailoring and Enchanting in the first day or so.

naw i think farming dungeons for gold is pretty fast, AH is still better/faster don't get me wrong, but if you're like me and don't like leveling professions like mining, then 5mans give pretty damn decent easy and fast gold gains. i 've made about 2k gold after repairs in 2 weeks running 5mans casually, after minor costs like reapirs and reagents for travel.

naw the dungeon loot isn't what gears you up in 5 mans, it's the justice points. sure it might take a couple days of rolls in normal modes to get to heroic. but honestly for me with infrequent cloth drops to roll on i still hit 180 item level within like 2 days of casual 5mans. then in heroics the JP starts rolling and and you can mathlete out your spending to get the best bang for your buck and then start selling instant queues to DPS as a tank for 50+g a run.

and there are lots of normal modes you can do as soon as you hit 80. i still had tbc arena epics and a blue pvp trinket and i was getting lots of different dungeons. just queue for randoms and you get a decent variety.

ok so where do i go to use justice points? i have quiet a few

in dalaran there are vendors in different locations for different kinds of stuff. i can't point you in the exact direction for your class, but a guildie should be able to show you around them and give advice on what to get.

anyways, i just realized in teh shower this morning i've spent more time per day playing wow this time around than any game since aion, and i was only doing so in that game due to my guild being in vent(when they stopped coming into vent the fact the game play itself was ultra boring kicked in and i lost motivation). i logged in a 6pm last night and logged out at 1am.

keeping in mind that since wotlk came out i've mostly bought a time card rerolled played for like 2 hours and then logged out for 3-4 months. maybe because i'm playing my mage again or that i got out of the boring wotlk world questing grind. idk.

my bro has been talking about buying a mumble server and making a serious attempt at starting our own guild. i'm trying to think out what would be involved as far as our focus, as we pretty much want to do everything except raiding in a casual fun oriented kind of way. we'd also be retaining members based more on personality than skill or gearscore.

we'd be co leading but i know i'd be the one doing the real "leading" though i don't think it would be too stressful depending on how we present our guild for recruits, and run it. we both know what's involved in leading a guild, and i have a couple years cumulative officer or might as well be an officer experience in fairly successful and more hardcore style guilds in different mmo's. he would basically be providing irl and in game money for infrastructure such as the mumble server and guild tabs as he like to make money in game, and i would be the one doing member management for the most part.

the only thing is though that we have long term commitment issues, in that he likes to play for 2weeks to a couple months than go afk for a few weeks, and i haven't stuck with a game longer than 2 months in 2 years.

we'd also have to think about how we wanted to advertise our guild. we do like pvp alot and would probably even have world pvp events and stuff(even if this has been mostly nerfed since tbc it seems), but he likes to do everything in the game. we would probably be doing every thing but raiding and hardcore arenas. i was thinking maybe social grouping for fun focus guild, but i'd have to think of a way to advertise it that would appeal to like minded casuals. i think we could even field a 10man raid group if we got enough members and they wanted it, but i wouldn't want it to become the focus of our guild and take away from other fun stuff like premades and world pvp and so on. we wouldn't be max level only but i don't want to recruit tonnes of lowbies asking for help to level, even though i would like to make helping rerolls and alts of members part of our weekly activities.

anyways just thinking out loud here.

As a DPS warrior what you'll want is the Ymirjar Lord's Battlegear set. You can buy it from Horace Hunderland in Dalaran. The same vendor sells the Tank set Ymirjar Lord's Plate. The entire set costs 4690 JPs (1100 for Head, Chest and Legs. 695 for Shoulders and Hands). Later you can get the Sanctified (ilvl 264) and Heroic (ilvl 277) versions by running raids and getting Marks of Sanctification, you then just turn in the piece you want to upgrade with the mark of sanctification and you get the upgraded piece.

    • Friday Windows 11 preview builds are here. Insiders in the Experimental (formerly Dev) and Beta Channel can download builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690. My Windows11 device on the Preview Channel just got 26220.8728. My guess is this build is a nightly update from 26220.8690.
    • Traffic has a surprisingly unexpected impact on your surroundings by Sayan Sen Image by Radik 2707 via Pexels A collaborative study by researchers from several Israeli institutions found that everyday pollution from traffic and industrial activity measurably changed the atmospheric electric field over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, providing new evidence of how human activity can influence the lower atmosphere. The research was led by Dr. Roy Yaniv of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Gertner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, Dr. Assaf Hochman of the Fredy & Nadine Herrmann Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University, and Prof. Yoav Yair of Reichman University. The study also involved Itay Froomer, a student from Hadera High School and the Israeli Museum of Medicine and Science (Technoda), who carried out the work as part of the Ministry of Education's 5-unit physics research track. The researchers focused on the atmospheric electric field under fair-weather conditions. Even in the absence of storms, a weak electric field naturally exists between Earth's surface and the atmosphere. One of the main ways scientists measure this field is through the Potential Gradient (PG), which is the inverse of the vertical component of the electric field. PG is a key part of the global electric circuit, a planet-wide system of electrical currents maintained by thunderstorms and electrified clouds around the world. Scientists have long known that the atmospheric electric field can be influenced by factors ranging from large-scale atmospheric processes to local weather conditions such as dust, fog and clouds. Human-made pollution is also known to play a role, but understanding exactly how urban emissions affect the electric field close to the ground has remained an area of ongoing research. To investigate this relationship, the team analyzed measurements from a newly installed electric field mill, an instrument used to continuously monitor the strength of the atmospheric electric field. The instrument was installed at the Center for Technological Education (Roter House) in Holon and became operational in August 2024. It was funded by Israel's Ministry of Education and the Holon municipality. The electric field mill forms part of a broader monitoring network that includes nearby meteorological stations and air-quality monitoring sites. This allowed researchers to compare electric field measurements with detailed weather data and pollution records to better understand what was driving changes in the Potential Gradient. The study focused on two major urban pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), both commonly produced by vehicle traffic and industrial activity. PM2.5 refers to microscopic airborne particles small enough to remain suspended in the atmosphere for extended periods, while NOx is a group of gases released during fuel combustion. Researchers examined daily, weekly and seasonal patterns in the atmospheric electric field and compared them with changes in pollutant concentrations. Their analysis revealed a clear relationship between NOx levels and changes in the Potential Gradient, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when traffic emissions were at their highest. “What we observe is a direct physical link between emission peaks and electrical variability,” explained Dr. Roy Yaniv. “NOx reduces atmospheric conductivity very quickly, so the electric field responds almost instantaneously during traffic rush hours.” Atmospheric conductivity describes how easily electrical charges move through the air. According to the researchers, nitrogen oxides rapidly alter this conductivity, causing a near-immediate response in the electric field. PM2.5, however, was associated with a delayed response. The researchers attributed this difference to the particles' longer atmospheric residence time, meaning they remain in the atmosphere for longer periods, as well as their different microphysical interactions with surrounding air and atmospheric components. The study also identified a pronounced "weekend effect." In Israel, traffic volumes and some industrial activity decline significantly on Fridays and Saturdays. During these periods, concentrations of both NOx and PM2.5 dropped, and corresponding changes were observed in the atmospheric electric field. “The weekend signal demonstrates just how sensitive the electric field is to changes in human activity,” the researchers noted. “When emissions decline, the electrical environment adjusts at once, providing a high-resolution indicator of urban atmospheric conditions.” The findings showed that pollution levels can influence not only the chemical composition of the atmosphere but also its electrical properties. Researchers said the results strengthened the case for using atmospheric electricity as an additional tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in densely populated urban areas where anthropogenic, or human-caused, influences are most pronounced. The study also pointed to potential public health applications. By combining air-quality measurements with observations of atmospheric electricity, researchers said they could gain a more complete picture of how urban atmospheric conditions change over time. “Integrating air-quality data with electric-field measurements gives us a clearer picture of how the lower atmosphere evolves moment by moment,” the researchers added. “It’s a framework that can support both scientific insight and practical environmental decision-making.” Beyond the scientific findings, the project highlighted a collaboration between universities, public institutions and secondary education. Researchers said the work demonstrated how students could take part in real-world environmental research while contributing to studies of air quality, atmospheric processes and their potential effects on society. A lot can happen in the world between now and the 2026 World Series, including the 2026 FIFA Cup. Tell me about it again after the FIFA Cup is concluded. That should allow plenty of time to prepare for it.
