Gotta wait til tomorrow for mine, I ordered off Amazon (?8 cheaper!) I'm not usually one for physical media but I kinda like having all of the WoW expansions on disc :p Kinda a shame to miss out on the start tho :(

same here i have the other 3 disks so want to wait for physical copy of this as well.

I still haven't decided hunter or druid as my main.

Advantages :

Hunter-

Rolls during raids are uncontested in my guild because we don't have any hunters.. and very VERY few enhancement shamans..

Pet to level with while I'm leveling.

I enjoy 'the hunt' and having something with me at all times.. in the form of a pet.

Druid-

I love transforming and having alt forms.. flight form will be amazing.

I like the versatility of the class.

I enjoy druid immensely, just as much as I enjoy hunter.

Disadvantages:

Hunter-

People always complain that hunters are to blame for extra pulls during runs..

No 'travel' forms, so extra expenditures on mounts, other than my initial mount because I'll be a worgen.

Having to fight for the pets I want and .. hunting them down.

Druid-

Contested roles during guild runs because we have other people who use the same stats as druids..

... that's.. it I think?

:| Argh. This is a tough choice.

Either way, I'll be a worgen and a leather worker and skinner.

Hunter is a lot of fun, Hunters do not get blamed for extra pulls, if anything its druids and that damn starfall that get blamed for pulling extra mobs not hunters.

^ I'd go for Druid (well my main is a druid so ...), I've played a hunter and while I love the class mechanics and overall "feeling" I HATE having to feed my pet all the time. Plus, if you like AOE damage like I do, Druid is just awesome : Barkskin + Starfall, wait for mobs to gather around you then Hurricane to death, it's just too much fun when you're farming leather.

You do not need to feed your pet what so ever and its been like that since pet got talent points and you can also glyph for it as well.

So there is no real difference between buying a physical copy and doing the digital download purchase correct? No special promotions with gamestop or walmart or anything else?

If not then I am just going to buy it online so I don't have to worry about another CD to keep up with

Im skipping class tomorrow for the launch but Im debating whether to stay up all night and play it or goto bed early and wake up early.

Aren't they taking servers down for a "maintenance" time just like normal? I mean honestly I don't expect servers to be up until 3-4 pm

servers come up at 3am my time tonight, i usually go to bed at 10-11pm and wake up for a smoke around 3-4am. so i think i might quue up a pot of coffee before i go to bed then log into wow when i wake up for my smoke and get some early leveling done. or at least some solo world pvp practice during the early morning rush.

about hunters, i think that cliche is old now and probably not true anymore. it seems like they have some skill to help the tank pull aggro on trash in particular when i've had them in my 5 mans. the only thing i don't like about them is trying to click target mobs behind their pets or when their pets are right on top of dead mobs i can loot. but otherwise...

speaking of hunters theres a guy on my server trolling /2 with "can a fury warrior beat a hunter?" well he says "furry" to which i replied what do tauren and worgen warriors have to do with beating hunters?, but he waits for people to answer and then tries to debunk everything they say. it's kinda lolzy but his main argument seems to be that hunters can't be reached by fury warriors to do any damage, but in my experience most pvp hunters just stand in one spot and don't even move when you're in their dead zone(before it was removed). maybe hunters have smartened up in general, idk. i did see a hunter kiting gamon the other week. but when i tried reolloing a hunter i was immidaiately dismayed to find that their ranged auto attack seems to only work when stationary. which is why i decided to try a rogue reroll that night instead. i like rogues in theory, but the place style i s just too slow for me overall. for me and hunters i don't seem to like pet classes too much, even if i love my mage pet(but it mostly works automatically or with minimal management)

i was down to 100g last night and decided to do more recuriting instead of running 5mans for gold. so i ended up selling off all the frostweave bolts i'd collected since coming back. not sure if i 'm going to regret not saving them for leveling up my tailoring eventually or not. i sold about 5 or 6 stacks at 80g each and they sold instantly, but i generally dislike leveling up professions in wow, and only did tailoring to be able to make cheap bags for myself and my guild. so this means if i want to make cata bags i'm going to need to go back and farm wotlk dungeons(as world drop rates of cloth in wotlk land seem to be terrible compared to 5mans, plus the cloth per bolt ratio) and i'm about 53 points from being able to make cata cloth bolts. i'm hoping frwostweave prices go down per bolt in cata and income of gold increases drastically to enable me to spend on leveling up my tailoring but, i dk, cloth seems expensive on my server compared to other professions-saronite ore was going for 13g per stack in /2 last night.

Sucks looks like I gotta wait till tomoz. All the busess, trains and taxis are off due to 4hrs of snow today. Not a gritter in site so local authority is gonna get some serious questions sent its way.

Gamestation and few other places are closed due to it and there website is crashing from the pre-orders they now have trying to find out wtf is going on. Myself included. I want my CE and i aint shelling out more tonite on digital download jus to play it.

I work in the Hotel Industry so you can imagine how this has effected us. Dont worry I dont mean that questions have to be asked of the local authority due to shortage of wow, but rather the effects there disability to keep transport open has had. Lot of people thinking they havent bothered to spend any money on road salt or staff.

Jus hope GS servers come back online and I get some answers. Hoping for things to be open a bit more come midnite.....

blows about the authenticator

i reloaded my ipod touch forgetting about the authenticator

but was able to call them up and after about an hour on hold, got it removed and on my ipad within that phone call. but i rememberd to write down the authenticator ID

haha yeah hate when normally fairly moderate winter countries get snowed in and no body knows how to drive anymore and everything shuts down. actually it happens often enough in canada outside of BC and we should be used to it here.

anyways i just remembered something

for anyone on pvp servers

i highly recomend getting the addon called spy, even if you don't plan on starting any fights while leveling. it will alert you when enemy players are nearby and assist you with targetting them even if they are moving and you're not a great click targetter. so you can be prepared for any ganks that might happen during the first few weeks of crazy new expansion leveling rush.

it's going to be trial by fire for me to get back into the groove of using an addon like spy while world questing. listening for the sound alert and targetting and evaluating targets with it. it's not as good as personal sentry was for various reasons, but it's the next best thing, and i recomend it to anyone on pvp servers doing any kind of in teh world activities or even BG pvp.

Carbonite has this built in it's called Punks. It has a list of the punks (other faction chars) you can click to target them, and it will also show up in your Event/Chat log saying "Enemy Character [treemonster] detected."

I was just about to post the same thing. I love Carbonite and used to use it back when it was a "paid" addon a long time ago.

I never used it while it was a paid-for addon, however Since it became free it's one of the first I make sure to have installed. It's just so...everything. Maps, Quests, Gatherer, Punks, Enhanced Windows.

I have tried to get back into wow, but due to personal issues I haven't been able to, maybe now with Cata Coming out I can get into it. I need a new server and guild to join though may help me to stay in it.

WoW expansion 4: New continent likely - Blizzard.

The fourth World of WarCraft expansion is likely to adopt the Burning Crusade approach of adding a brand new continent, Blizzard's lead systems designer Greg Street has said.

Speaking to CVG ahead of tonight's Cataclysm launch, Street said the studio's unlikely to rebuild more areas of the WoW game world in expansion four, opting instead for "a new continent approach".

More here.

That is actually rather sad news. I was hoping for The Emerald Dream to be next (Actually I wanted Emerald Dream instead of Cataclysm) Which would not really be a new continant more than it would just be a phased version of Azeroth before the Sundering (not the shattering)

i was wondering where the punks window came from.i thought it was from mage nuggets. while it's a great feature, i find spy to be more effective overall, and a little easier to use as the window is a bit bigger.

can you elaborate on enhanced windows?

reminds me of my issue with bagnon and managing my guild bank. we have yet to add any tabs but i have found i have to disable bagnon completely to be able to add tabs or manage the guild funds through the guild bank, or other functionality. anyone have any suggestions for this? such as an alternative to bagnon that is on par for organization and visual appeal but retains default ui functionality for the guild bank?

if you are looking for a new server, check us out on aegwynn. we will be doing everything except raiding, and if we recruit enough core members that want to do some casual 3 days a week max 10mans and members to manage and lead them, we will definitely discuss and go forward with raids. we have a mature/adult(ie bad words and bad jokes) atmosphere in mumble, are generally active 7 days a week after 6-7pm est, and currently have members on either side of NA(EST and MST). on weekends we hang out in mumble during the day so we can be called upon to log in for any reason before our regular playtimes if needed.

our website is http://omgklingons.guildlaunch.com/. it's pretty empty right at the moment, but you should be able to view the guild/app FAQ(a work in progress) and the apps of both leaders(the app is also a work in progress).

we'll be focused on hitting 85 before anything else, after which we'll start doing thing like rated BGs world pvp events 5mans and helping lower level members level, depending on our roster and activity of members.

The Emerald Dream MAY be an entirely new subset of continents.

Just they have an improved quest window, improved "Friends/Social" window, etc that show more information, or have more options for viewing and such. They can be turned off/returned to default individually as well. As for the guild that's exactly what I am looking for, a laid back fun guild. I work 9-5 EST every day (except weekends) so having somewhere to go to shoot the **** / take my mind off life would be awesome. I'd be starting fresh

ahh ok yeah noticed those.

and i'll refresh the guild page every 15 minutes or so to see if you've signed up. just leave the initial app blank and post one on the application forum at your own leisure.

i can do a RAF for you when you're ready so you can get through 1-60 quickly and get that 2 seater flying mount.

any class or spec you want is A OK. we do have a healer already, but more is always welcome.

I recall reading about the Emerald Dream supposed expansion, some people said that it can't happen because the time-line would be different or something like that, I'm really not sure about the details, but when I read it it made sense why Emerald Dream won't be an expansion, it might be a zone, but not an expansion..

Blizzard will be exploring the New World next expansion :p

lore has never stopped blizz from any doing anything in the past.

doesn't amtter if the lore in teh previous games expansions books or comics say one thing, blizz has shown they are more than willing to mangle the RPers nazism to suit their own needs and desires in terms of what to do with wow next.

ahh ok lolz. too bad i guess. although i thin k you can still do RAF with an active account not sure. there are some people selling RAFs for the mount for 10k in /2 on my server.

i guess i can look into it.

ok i looked into it and RAF doesn't apply. oh well.

    • Tixati 3.43 by Razvan Serea Tixati is a free and easy to use BitTorrent client featuring detailed views of all seed, peer, and file transfer properties. Also included are powerful bandwidth charting and throttling capabilities, and a full DHT implementation. Tixati is one of the most advanced and flexible BitTorrent clients available. And unlike many other clients, Tixati contains NO SPYWARE, NO ADS, and NO GIMMICKS. Tixati portable version is meant to run on a USB flash drive or other portable media. It stores all its configuration files in the same folder as the executable binary files, and all file paths are stored in a format relative to the program executable folder. It is important you do not delete the "tixati_portable_mode.txt" file within the executables folder. This file is what triggers Tixati to run in portable mode. (The executable binaries are actually the same as the standard edition binaries.) When running the portable edition from a USB flash drive, especially one that is formatted in FAT16/FAT32, you may experience some lag when initially loading a new transfer. This is because initializing and allocating large files on flash-based media consumes a greater amount of time and resources compared to a conventional hard-drive. Tixati has the following features: detailed views of all aspects of the swarm, including peers, pieces, files, and trackers support for magnet links, so no need to download .torrent files if a simple magnet-link is available super-efficient peer choking/unchoking algorithms ensure the fastest downloads peer connection encryption for added security full DHT (Distributed Hash Table) implementation for trackerless torrents, including detailed message traffic graphs and customizable event logging advanced bandwidth charting of overall traffic and per-transfer traffic, with separate classification of protocol and file bytes, and with separate classification of outbound traffic for trading and seeding highly flexible bandwidth throttling, including trading/seeding proportion adjustment and adjustable priority for individual transfers and peers bitfield graphs that show the completeness of all downloaded files, what pieces other peers have available, and the health of the overall swarm customizable event logging for each download, and individual event logs for all peers within the swarm expert local file management functions which allow you to move files to a different partition even while downloading is still in progress 100% compatible with the BitTorrent protocol Windows and Linux-GTK native versions available Tixati 3.43 changelog: Several major DHT improvements Added several screening heuristics to filter malicious DHT nodes, prevent Sybil floods Rewrote DHT search algorithms to add support for multi-path lookups Improved DHT logging, more details in several error messages Extended timeout lengths for outgoing queries over I2P Added incoming query / response per second to DHT table status display Updated Regex engine to PCRE2 Faster Search function, scans Several refinements to default gateway detection on Windows / Android, which is used for port-mapping Support for IPv6 interface-scoped addresses, which is sometimes needed for IPv6 gateway detection and port mapping Full support for PCP port remapping, added backup zero-port query in case requested port is rejected New UPNP/NAT-PMP Monitor in Help > Diagnostics New reflected local port/location tracker that analyzes DHT replies to detect true port/location and NAT mapping type New TCP/UDP Ports monitor in Help > Diagnostics, with several statistic and information tabs, and a detailed event log Calculated/reflected local port is now used for port parameter in tracker queries and peer handshake Fixed several problems with Linux Wayland compatibility Completely replaced tray icon functions in Linux, new SNI implementation is now the default with GSI backup Implemented full DBus-Menu server to be used by new SNI tray icon implementation Replaced Linux tray balloon notification DBus client Rewrote auto-shutdown DBus interface for Linux Rewrote sleep inhibit DBus interface for Linux Dropped deprecated Linux dbus-glib dependencies Completely new Windows asynchronous file handling, now using IOCP model with several block-alignment optimizations Better handling of system network resets and interface down/up cycles Added option to fully clear configuration in Settings > • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
