Every one see how you can get honor through a pvp daily mark(1 of each mark) turn in and repeat it as many times as you want in a day starting with 2.4!!!!!!!!!? You only get the 11g 99s once a day though but after that the quest is repeatable as many times as you want. Some one said 100 of each mark will yield you some where around 30k honor :D

So there will be a new thing added.. which will give you a "mark" that comes with the bg daylie... and you hand in a certain amount of these tokens to get a massive load of honor... is that what is coming in the new patch?

Is someone able to link the patch notes.. I really want to read up on this stuff rather than having to pester.. the World of Warcraft thread..

My level 70 rogue got banned, apparently i was exploiting, and i havent played in a while, and told them maybe i got hacked, said nothing i can do about it. I cannot believe i got a permanent ban for doing something i didnt do...

Looks to my my WoW life is over, soo much time spent into it ><

That sucks.. did they give you any other information on what was done on your account, or was it just a straight your banned for exploiting?

I too got hacked a while back.. through a key logger when I was on a mates computer.. lost everything on one of my 70s took all the gold stripped and deleted it.. but left my other 2 70s on the account untouched and nothing missing...

I talked to Blizzard and got everything back on the toon that was deleted, but for some reason they were unable to restore the gold to the account... Is there anything that they can do in that situation to get the gold back or do they not restore it for reasons, if I was a gold farmer trying to get double the amount of profit?

Having made a return to WoW after taking a good half a year and a bit more of a break I'm still more than ever frustrated by two factors - the wellfare epics have gone from "fun" to "outright ridicilous" and the balance issues in PVP have gone from "oh dear" to "yay more different ways to cc people".

I think the PVP part of WoW is pretty much beyond any repair as it is - then again seeing who are in charge of the PVP development currently doesn't really make it that much of a surprise.

More than ever it seems the game is just frustrating and not fun anymore, I wonder when they lost the plot this badly. I guess I'll have to get back to raiding then.

I believe they're talking about marks of honor that you get from any battleground. Like the "Warsong Gulch Mark of Honor", or "Alterac Valley mark of honor" and such.

I just cant seem to stick at one char. I played my hunter up until he was 64 and got bored. Went back to other classes and tried but I cant stick. I seem to play a mage for an hour, then swap to my warrior. At this rate, it will take me about 5 years to level them all up. Don't know why I do it :(

I think its because Im not in a guild and never really have been. So its 99% solo work and most instances I get involved in, I find myself grouped with twats who havent got a clue. So I lower myself and cause the instance to be wiped. For example, in SM Cath, wait until im close enough to the big guy in the center and pull. Causing every single mob in the cath to charge at us. Ive lost count how many times ive cried with laughter over that one, with my half witted group going "ZOMG WTF, HEAL ME".

Maybe thats why Im not in a guild..

Well if anyone in the group is a decent player, I'm sure you're going to get more recognition about being bad than good. I've grouped with people who weren't too great but I knew the ones who really were up to par.

If the leader is better than you, I'd kick you out of the group instantly and grab someone else. Then again, if all the players are just as bad, it would be hard for me to tell if you were doing it on purpose or were just a bad player. BUT, if you decided to run up the center of the cath and the leader told you not to and you did anyway (or you weren't following the instructions laid out to you) you'd be kicked instantly if I was leader. I don't mess around with behavior like that. As a leader I'd rather have people not go broke on repair bills and frustration. I'd rather leave the instance than do it in an idiotic fashion.

At the same time, I can listen to a player LFG and making announcements and know whether they are a noob or not. Pretty much 2 minutes into the full group I'll know whether or not I should stay or leave.

Every time a battle ground ends you are awared one or three marks of honor (3 for winning, 1 for losing). You will be able to turn in 4 marks, one from each of the battlegrounds, for 314 honor.

See: For Great Honor.

Which is about the same amount of honor you get from winning 1 bg..

which btw used to be in the game where you turn those in, but they took it out.

Ah ok... so its just the normal tokens that you get to hand in.. Never knew that, lol I got full tokens on each bg.. looks like ill be handing in heaps when the patch comes out...

Is there a certain limit to as many as you can hand in at anyone time?

Yeah I remember that. After I had a long several month break from the game everything was changed to how it is now. I think it's cool that they're bringing it back, in case somebody doesn't want anything using WSG marks but wants something using AB marks and just needs some extra honor for whatever they're getting.

WOO HOO!! VASHJ DOWN!!

Huge grats. Now on to Kael! As far as I'm concerned Vashj and Kael are the end game. Nothing before is hard, and not much after either. Congratulations on beating one of the 5 hardest fights in the game. Even if you don't make Kael before attunements aren't required for BT/Hyjal you're going to do very well in those zones.

For my achievement of the week: I got 2 friends that rolled mage alts to farm with and we did the quest for polymorph turtle today. Killing cloned sheep was comedy gold.

Did a ZA speed run and Finally got the caster staff and melee ring from the timed chests (archimonde hasn't ben generous with his sword). We brought a new DPS warrior and healing shaman so we ended up pulling a ton of extra scouts and missed the final chest by about 5-7 minutes. Still, found 2 solid players to rotate into the group which is nice. Hopefully next week the bear cavalry will start to grow again.

After the speed run I grabbed our druid tank and enhancement shaman and we 3 manned Bloodlord, Thekal, and Gahz'ranka.

No mounts, but my mage can now make turtles! (screenshots for epic cuteness soon).

WTF is a reliquary of souls?

Was Magtheridon at a garage sale a few years ago and bought it to hang up in Mother Shaz's room? When Illidan moved in did he say "Ug, somebody go toss this in the basement where the ghosts live!" Seriously, what is the deal with this thing and how come I have to go kill it every week? It seems to have nothing at all to do with anything else in the temple and the loot makes no sense. Why do 3 floating heads keep gloves, boots, and a two-handed mace crammed in their....ass-face?

"Reliquary of Souls is the water softener. You kill it so when Illidan checks the dishes he'll see water spots on his wine glasses and be very angry about not being prepared for dinner guests. The loot is all the stuff it filters out of the water that week." There, back story. Was that so hard?

Also, what face does he/she/it poop out of?

LOL cheers for the laugh dude. I concur with your none too subtle point on the backstory too

Damn those pics are cool. It really sucks being level 25, I want to get to the point where I can do groups like that (I think it's called a raid?) If there's 25 people there, who gets the drops? Do you all just blast away at or, or are there strategies? Do you get bad FPS drops in the comotion? I get 20 fps when running around and fighting regular mobs, I'd porbably get 5fps max if there's 100 things happening on my screen.

If there's 25 people there, who gets the drops?

The way loot is handled varies greatly from one guild to the next but the common are:

  • 1) Loot council. Trusted members of the guild look at all attending members and give drops to people in a way that maximizes the raids ability to succeed.
    2) DKP. There are a number of DKP systems but the basic idea is players earn points for their time raiding and then spend those points to aquire gear. DKP systems are handled entirely outside of the game typically using web-sites or spread sheets to track people's attendance over the months/years.
    3) Free Roll. It works the same way it does in 5-man groups with people using need/greed/pass rolls to give out loot randomly. This sort of system is often used by for "farm" content where nobody really needs the gear but it might be nice to have for off-spec use.

Things that nobody needs are typically disenchanted and kept by the guild and used to make gear for members or sold to pay for things like enchants, potions, repairs, etc.

Do you all just blast away at or, or are there strategies?

The basic strategy for killing most monsters is "tank and spank" and then it gets more complicated as you progress through the tiers of raiding. Very difficult boss fights take the average guild several weeks to learn.

Have a look at "Lady Vashj: A Tatical Guide" and "Kael'thas Sunstrider: A Tactical Guide". Those videos provide a detailed breakdown of what to expect from the two final Tier-5 bosses. They cover boss abilities, their summoned adds, and how to best counter all the dozens of ways you can end up dead.

Do you get bad FPS drops in the comotion? I get 20 fps when running around and fighting regular mobs, I'd porbably get 5fps max if there's 100 things happening on my screen.

It largely depends on your hardware and the environment you're in. A few of the people in my guild complain about horrible frame rates in Mount Hyjal where you may have 100+ characters on screen at a time and many area-of-effect spells being cast. For the most part raiding is accessible even to people with really slow computers.

This game is so so so much more complex and complicated than I assumed. It doesn't put me off, it's just kind of discouraging knowing how many 70's with the best gear are out there and I'm doing these stupid quests killing 15 Crocs for 1000xp. Frustrating.

Thanks for writing all that, clears a lot up.

This game is so so so much more complex and complicated than I assumed.

Actually WoW is most likely the least complex, easiest and streamlined MMO that exists - also that tends to be one of the issues with it, once you've "seen it all" you don't really have anything to do and picking up the professions just means another type of "grind" with no tangible rewards unless you want to farm some more.

Oh well, I'll go clean Sunwell and then I can quit again :p

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
