Almost forgot how bad WoW looks  Oh how I wish Blizzard will focus on a much improved engine for their next, big MMO project.

Turn the settings up and use a decent machine, it still looks great, especially in Northrend.

I still think it looks like crap, even on my machine. It looked "okay" back in the days but now the huge slaps of low-res textures, wide open spaces consisting of one texture layer and huge polygon buildings is not pretty nor does it emphasize any sort of "special" style, it just looks dated. Main reason I quit World of Warcraft was actually due to the dated looks, it was like playing a Flash game online in the end, despite having every single setting maxed out.

I think it looks pretty damn good. There are quite a few places in Northrend that look absolutely amazing. And a lot of the new textures for the Wrath content are a lot nicer than the older stuff. It's not Crysis, but it looks good. To compare it to a Flash game is a major exaggeration.

And to stop playing a game because it looks dated to you is quite ridiculous.

Ran a successful For the Horde! raid tonight. It was absolutely amazing. Just seeing all 40 of us crammed onto the boat to Darnassus or the tram between SW and IF was hilarious, but the battles were totally awesome too. We didn't even run into any real resistance until SW or IF, and even then we had only 1 death in SW and only a few in IF.

I ended up #6 overall in DPS, which was really cool to see. Averaged 2k.

That was by far one of the most fun things I've done in the entire game. I can't wait to get into raiding.

I have to admit I'd take WoW's... Eccentric pallet of colours/tones over WAR & AoC which look rather bland in comparison. Both their worlds look lifeless in comparison. Though I guess that is also a problem with the zone design too.

I love having my view distance turned all the way up, looking out and seeing weather, creatures, people and a living landscape hundreds of yards away. Swimming through icey waters and killin Orcas, taking the zipline down onto a small island where wolves are hunting the shoveltusks I need for a quest (Stupid Wolves!), WoW just feels so alive and I don't see it being successfuly replaced for quite a while.

The engine it self might be out dated, but the game is far from looking like a Flash game. Unless you're playing some pimped out Flash games I don't know about.

Sorry about the long post. :p

I'm a little peeved, and happy.

I went with a 40 man raid tonight (my first one ever! .. that's why I'm happy) to do the FOR THE ALLIANCE achievement. *Kill all the horde leaders.* The reward is an awesome Warbear mount.

We downed Carne Bloodhoof and whatshis****ingname in the BE city.. we downed Thrall AND Sylvanias TWICE and they both glitched and rezed and reset on us, ****ing off so many people in our raid that they just left the raid.

In the long run, I didn't get my Warbear mount. I opened a ticket. 30 minutes later.. GM's said they couldn't do anything... That's why I'm peeved. :(

However...

Can anyone spot the red haired gnome in the 40 man raid? I know where I was in the middle of that fight and I can't even find myself.

There's also this screenshot:

Me, right before we took off to kill off the first Horde leader, ahead of everyone else, looking like I'm the raid leader..

Haha that's funny. I've killed all the alliance leaders about 4 times in the past week. My server is currently trying to destroy the alliance. We got over 80 people and attacked Stormwind, killing everything and everyone everywhere. We help out in the AH and bank for over an hour an a half.

If the leaders reset it means your MT fails at tanking lawl.

That's because we owned your leaders so hard that Blizz gave ours extra lives

:p

My guild's hitting Naxx this very moment and I'm listening in trying to garner some idea of whats going some idea, and while they're regaining their health, someone created a fire so they could regain their health faster.. "Lets be cozy.." and someone says "Garrik -- Your a tree.. don't stand in the fire!!!!"

So my third Maly kill and first in 10 man. Think I finally got the rotation down for DPS.

Nice. Malygos can be frustrating, especially if the other DPS in your raid aren't paying attention. Gotta kill those Power Sparks as fast as possible while trying to stack the debuff they give on death to beat the enrage timer.

The fight is fun though!

PS: Grats on the 6000th post in this thread. >_>

    • First time clicking on a Sayan Sen article after he started making clickbait, vague headlines recently. Didn't read, just came here to say the headline doesn't look like very cheap, vague clickbait this time. Are you okay?
    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).
    • Microsoft Weekly: new Surface, Windows 11 26H2, and more by Taras Buria This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft announcing Windows 11 version 26H2, launching new Surface devices powered by Snapdragon X2 processors, GTA VI preorder date and cover art, fresh Windows 11 preview builds, a quirky phone-sized e-reader with a physical dial, and more. Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. Both devices feature little to no visual differences compared to their predecessors from 2024, and most changes hide inside, including a better processor, faster graphics, enhanced NPUs, and more. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Files, one of the best file managers for Windows 10 and 11, has been updated in the Preview channel with a long-requested feature. Tree View is finally available in version 4.1.4, allowing you to quickly browse deeply nested folders without leaving the main view. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers.
