"Dimebag" Darrell Abbot Murdered on Stage

Recommended Posts

Wow, I can't believe people are actually supporting the troll who thinks he deserved to get killed. Pure idiocy. Can't believe you think that since he played heavy metal he should have some how expected being shot in the face. You're a complete idiot.

This is truly tragic, and disgusting. Some people are truly sick. And some people within this thread are truly idiotic.

I never said he deserved to be shot - and how do you know he was shot in the face? Another one that can't read...

Just making the point that someone who lives that kind of a lifestyle and names himself after a bag of weed probably will not make it as far (in age) as an average person would.

Would you still feel the same way if he overdosed on heroin or some other drug?

Well it is a shame that he is dead, I saw this on Fox, and they made it sound like it was just another local band playing at a crappy club. I did not know it was Dimebag until I read it here, damn Fox sucks. As for being influencial in bands of today, I think of that as a slap in the face to Darrel. Bands today suck, they play three chords, no solos and seem to all sound the same. Let us just say he was a great guitarist, I bet he hated the music that is coming out today.

PS: Quit bitching at each other, Neowin has too much of this crap. Stay on the topic, if you want to argue, why don't you guys make a new thread with the same title but give it a [Fight] tag or something.

Big Tex, you do realize that Stevie Ray Vaughn was on of the biggest drinkers/ drug abusers in the business right?

I'm not sure what happened to you to give you such tunnel vision. I'm sure it has something to do with your father. But that is a discussion for another day. Please keep your mindless trash talk to yourself.

You have no point. You and the music you prefer are not better than anyone else. I happen to like all types of music and this news comes as a big shock to me.

I'll not stoop to your level and try to insult you as this is not the time or place for that.

And to RichardK, yes to you he was just another guitar player. I'm a guitar player myself and I'll admit I was never much of a Pantera fan, but this man was an incredible guitarist. Too some people he was more than just another guitar player.

Accept the fact that we are all different, we all have different tastes in music and everything else. And by god if a thread doesn't affect you, please use your back button instead of posting this mindless crap.

Hmmm, so Lennon got shot because of why.  Nice logic.  And you say real music like Stevie Ray Vaughn, how about you picking a real football team to follow then talk.

585070279[/snapback]

Go watch a documentary or read a book and find out for yourslef.

What football team do you follow that gives you the right to talk smack like that? - whoever wins the Super Bowl every year???

"the gunman reportedly also died at the scene"

yah that would be expected seeing as how there are at on of fans right there.

He had to of known he would die too, unless he was a complete idiot.

585070328[/snapback]

Are you trying to say that the fans would have killed the gunman? Asking before I flame...

Are you trying to say that the fans would have killed the gunman?  Asking before I flame...

585070338[/snapback]

My point was there were a lot of people there and he had to of known that even if the cop hadn't killed him i'm sure someone would of beat him to death. Not everyone would just stand there and let some psycho shoot at them.

OK - I am not going to flame your personally, but if you can imagine something like that taking place, that tells you something about the fans of this music... Not all of them, but some of them are a little crazy...

I do not know what kind of gun was used or how much amo he had or if he used it all. But at some point he would have to run out of amo. If he did run out and people beat him to death instead of just beating him (which would be OK, especially if he was trying to beat people or if he was trying to flee the scene) then that is just sick. This is not the middle east. Let his ass rot on death row - I am sure there are some Pantera fans there that would like to kick his ass anyway.

Anyone with a name like that is just asking to be shot...

585070100[/snapback]

I'm sorry, but that's one of the most ignorant things I've ever read. Who are you to judge a man by his musical stage name? We're all worried about terrorism and gun control, but I'm more affraid of ignorance which seems to lead to this kind of behaviour.

there was probably about atleast 600 pantera fans there last night. if say only 200 want to beat his ass... the guys not gonna just come out of it with a black eye. plus his brother was right there, i dont know if you have a brother, but if i saw someone kill my brother right infront of me, that man would cease to exist. if either is the case that has nothing to do with the type of music i or any of them listen to or anything. the man would be dead because he deserved it.

Read my other posts and you will see why I can judge a man by his musical stage name.

Well I don't know what kind of music that is from the band he's in now so I can't really make too accurate of a comment there. I only know of him from his Pantera days.

But I'm assuming of course it's a similar crowd. Either way you give a beer to the wrong person and they see something that tramatic ya never know what could they are capable of doing.

I think it can happen with any crowd of music. But if you are referring its more likely to happen with that type of crowd then I do agree there.

You are wrong. If someone shot your brother and killed him in front of you and was pointing the gun at your face and you were unarmed, you would be going nowhere buddy.

It has plenty to do with what type of music it is - consider the same scenario at a classical symphony...

Not going to happen with any crowd. I would like to think that most people are civilized these days, oh well :(

(1:37:42 AM): the craziest things are

(1:37:49 AM): 1) john lennon died today 24 years ago

(1:38:14 AM): 2) phil anselmo said in an interview like a week ago he could easily kill dimebag, and any of his fans would do anything he said if he wanted them to

friend told me this on aim

It's interersting to see what this thread has turned into. Absolute garbage.

Fight about these matters elsewhere. Is it that difficult to start an argument in another thread? Must be for some people. I'm not insulting anyone in particular, but seriously, lets not bring other things into this.

Reading this news made me very sad. Darrel was one hell of a guitar player. I have seen him live with Pantera 5 times.

They were great. This may have severe consequences for gigs in small clubs in the US.

Lets hope I am wrong about this.

R.I.P. Darrel and Patrick

    • Microsoft further improving Windows 11 Taskbar with latest builds by Sayan Sen Microsoft has released new Windows 11 builds for users flighting the Experimental channels. The new builds are 26300.8758 for Windows 11 26H2, 28120.2374 for 26H1, and 29617.1000 for future platforms. There are improvements related to the Taskbar, File Explorer and more with the new update. The full changelogs are given below: First we have the build 26300.8758: Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out [Taskbar] Taskbar customization just got easier. As we continue to make improvements to the Taskbar experience mentioned last month, we've introduced a dedicated Taskbar Size setting, making it simpler to find, understand, and personalize your ideal taskbar experience. UI showing the new Taskbar Size setting in Settings. We've also made refinements to the transitions between taskbar sizes for a smoother overall experience. [File Explorer] We've improved the reliability of thumbnail previews for cloud files in the Details pane. The pane has also been reorganized so file properties are easier to find and review at a glance. Fixed an issue where the OneDrive shortcut in File Explorer stops working when File Explorer is run in administrative mode. Fixed an issue where the confirmation dialog might display an internal Recycle Bin file name instead of the original file name when permanently deleting a file. [Sounds] Improved system sounds when using Windows in dark mode. Up next we have build 28120.2374: Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes [Mobile Device Settings] You can add and manage your mobile devices in Settings under Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devices. On this page, you can manage features such as using your device as a connected camera or accessing your device's files in File Explorer. [Remote Recovery Management] Added a recovery remote management plug-in to extend WinRE management capabilities for MDM providers. [Input] The emoji panel (Windows key + period (.)) now uses GIPHY as the GIF provider, delivering a smoother GIF browsing and sharing experience following the deprecation of the Tenor API. Finally we have the changelog for Windows 11 build 29617.1000: Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out [Windows Update] As announced in the Windows Update announce blog, we are now bringing a new unified update experience to reduce the number of reboots you see per month. We are starting by coordinating driver, .NET, and firmware updates to align with the monthly quality update, reducing the update experience to a single monthly restart. See the blog for more information. [Windows Magnifier] Magnifier now gives you more control over how you zoom. You can type an exact zoom percentage directly in the magnifier toolbar to land on precisely the level you need. We've also added preset step increments (5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, and 400%) to the Settings dropdown, so you can jump to common levels in a single click. Whether you need a subtle boost or a dramatic close-up, Magnifier adapts to how you want to zoom. Enter an exact percentage or jump to preset steps —5% up to 400%. Feedback: Share your thoughts in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Accessibility > Magnifier. [Accessibility] We're introducing screen tint, a new accessibility setting that applies a color overlay across your entire display, softening its intensity so it's easier on your eyes throughout the day. If bright, saturated screens leave you with tired or sensitive eyes by the end of a long session, screen tint can help. Screenshot showing UI for screen tint in Accessibility, with color presets and a strength slider. To get started, open Settings > Accessibility (or press WIN + U) and look for screen tint under the Vision section. From there, you can: Pick from six preset colors or choose a custom color of your own. Adjust the tint strength slider from a subtle wash to full intensity. Night light warms your display to reduce blue light that can interfere with sleep. Screen tint reduces overall screen intensity to ease eye fatigue and light sensitivity during the day. They tackle different problems and you can use both at the same time, one working on warmth and the other on intensity. Note that turning on screen tint will disable color filters, and vice versa. If you currently rely on color filters, you might need to keep screen tint turned off. Feedback: Share your thoughts in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Accessibility > Narrator. [Voice Access] Voice Access now supports Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), and Korean (South Korea). [Audio] Continuing our work on improving Sound Settings, we've made a few more updates in this build: We've adjusted the description text for the Allow option in properties for audio devices to include the current state of the device, to improve the clarity of the text and the purpose of the button actions. "Listen to this device" is now available in properties for audio devices, so you don't need to enter Control Panel for this functionality. [Multiple Desktops] Improved explorer reliability when switching between multiple desktops. [Storage] We've updated the dialog when creating a Dev Drive to now support specifying the size in GB instead of only MB. This has also been added when changing the size of volumes under Settings > System > Storage. [Personalization] This update improves color selection accuracy when adjusting your accent color to match your wallpaper when automatic accent color selection is enabled in Personalization settings. This update improves wallpaper persistence reliability across restarts and upgrades, including better support for large-resolution wallpapers and other scenarios to prevent solid color wallpaper fallback. [Display and Graphics] Improves the reliability and persistence of applying color profiles. You can view the official blog posts here (link1, link2, link3) on Microsoft's site.
