"Dimebag" Darrell Abbot Murdered on Stage

[Title Editted]

I editted the title since Vince is alive, also, the college rockstation out here is paying tribute to Dimebag with plenty of Pantera... very good for the drive to work, just sad this is the reason. R.I.P.

I can't believe the lack of respect from some people. And also stop bad mouthing 'the scene'. My metalhead mates are the nicest people I know, without question, I was brought up in a very religeous way so believe me I know what a good person is.

This guy was a character, a personality, and a bloody good guitarist. I only wish Zakk could have got his hands on the gunman before he died.

ok... this can be a really sick ass remark, if it turns out true:

"Ok, ok, the joke went a little too far. We did all this just to see who our

true fans were, and I think we can now say we have some pretty loyal fans,

and some pretty scummy people on this earth. Dime Bag isn't dead, no-one got

hurt. It was a publicity stunt (which worked fairly well I must add) Please

no harsh feelings against the band, or against the fans. Dime bag is going

to be on MTV's breaking news at 7:00 this morning letting everyone in on the

incident. Please don't panic, but please, keep spreading the rumors and

gossip, we need this thing to get so completely huge that everyone out there

will hear the name "Damage Plan""

Source?

Sorry, but it really bothers me when someone posts something like that with no source.

That's fake.. too many news sources (including CNN) have reported it true, and Atlantic records confirmed his death to radio stations.

Vince (Vinnie) is dimebags brother and drumer

Scoop of the Columbus, Ohio radio station The Blitz 99.7 FM has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul was uninjured in the shooting incident at a Columbus nightclub which resulted in the death of Paul's brother, Dimebag Darrell.

And the fact that even true die hard fans would know that faking death to get publicity is the lowest of low. Id think less of a band that did that.

Dimebag would never agree to something like that. He doesnt need publicity, everyone who is the slightest bit interested in metal should know dimbad darrell.

I was sitting at my computer a few hours ago, and was actually listening to Pantera when my wife came into my office and was talking about a shooting that she just saw on CNN that involved a band getting shot at and some people had been killed. I went to CNN and noticed that the article was the top story and before I even clicked the link to read it my heart stopped as soon as I saw Dimebag mentioned...

Needless to say, when I read the article and found out he had been killed I emotionally lost it. Pantera is one of the reasons I started to play drums, one of the reasons I got into metal. Pantera has been and still is a major influence on me and I am completely devastated. I don't know what to think or feel. All I know is that I seriously feel like crying again. I was so fortunate to meet them back in the day, being a punk kid and standing around for hours in the cold at one of their shows. I got my face kicked in so bad that night but had such a blast.

People can talk all of the trash that they want, but I am a person that grows with music and Pantera helped me shape into what I am today. With Dimebag passing, a part of me has died. I really despise a certain person right now who posted some really negative things earlier on this thread. Your attitude is part of the reason why senseless acts of violence occur. People who share the same mentality or cold heartedness are a disease to society, and it is cowardly, and disrespectful to speak so horribly about a person who was violently gunned down for no reason. Karma can be a major bitch, so I hope you are ready when it's time for you comes.

Lastly, I hope that the gunman rots in the hottest depths of hell.

sorry, didnt mean to be mean.  I think were all a little bummed today.  No hard feelings? :)

nono :)

it was meant to be in a thankful way. sorry.

sometimes i hate the internet.

ive been to alrosa villa for a concert once (im from columbus) and i must say that it is pretty easy to get on that stage... being so close to the audience... and they never frisked me for anything when i went... it's sad... they should have done that. poor guy.

Lots of info and posts on Damageplan's message board. Some celebs dropping by to pay thier respects. Strangest one so far: Will Wheaton, Wesley from Star Trek: The Next Generation

Not so weird....he's a bit of a metalhead according to what he writes in his blog. :)

Saddest day in music in many years. He helped change metal from pure speed into an art form. Listen to songs like Walk, The Flood, and Planet Caravan (a Sabbath cover I know), the guitar work is beautiful.

If you didnt like him stay outta the thread, talking bad of the dead is petty.

Why do most threads end up like this?

The anonymity of the web lets people act like morons, that's why.

Someone posts about the death of one of their heros and guaranteed someone will come in and bad mouth their hero, out of pure spite.

Not cool, but that's the way it is.

Myself? Not a real pantera fan, but I recognize the band's importance in the metal scheme of things.

Big loss.
