Take a look at the motor running in Gen3 (95-99) Ford Taurus SHO's... It's a Gen3 Yamaha Racing 3.4L V8 with an all aluminum block and heads.

And yes, it will fit in a Civic, with a little room to spare... :D

Hell, there are a few people who actually have modded the engine into Civics, as I have seen them at some of my SHO conventions I've been to...

tell your friend with the civic to just race the viper. that will solve it. btw, your friend with the civic did not run a 12.8 with just a cai and a vtec controller. either he has a power adder or he is flat out lying to you. ask to see the time slip, i bet he lost it.

look, i have an eclipse gsx and i know its faster than a civic with a 50 shot because ive raced one. i also know that i run a 14.5 in the 1/4. i will wreck a civic with a cai and a vtec controller and i will get slapped around by a viper.

although, once summer comes and my new turbo gets put on and it gets tuned by pruven or turbotrix it should run low 12s, high 11s, and that puts me within range of beating a viper...

so tell your friend with the civic he is retarted and will not beat the viper. propose a race between the two of them, see if he will do it. he sounds like your typical ricer to me though.

A friend in my city got a Dodge Viper 2005, the first I think in my area to get that kind of car. Most people that have fast cars or think they have fast cars drive Honda Civics. Well I told a friend about my other friend getting a Viper and all he can say is that the car is slow and that his civic can smoke it.  I'm not saying that the civic is slow because he can do a quater mile in high 12's but comparing a stock vtech civic motor to a vipers 500HP motor is no contest. Or is it. Am I missing anything from this?

to the original poster... does your friend have a big wing on his car? a body kit perhaps? stickers? altezzas? i suppose the aerodynamics and stickers can add several hundred horsepower, in which case yes, it could beat the viper. yeah, the civic will pass it like its standing still. no need for power adders. ;)

As much as I love Civics there is no way in hell that "pure motor power" and a CAI is going to smoke a 500HP Viper.

on a raceway he did very high 12's around 12.8ISH.  The thing is that he played around with his ECU and the vtech is always on instead only kicking in after 5.5K RPM.

VTEC always on... this i doubt, even though it can be done, either through TODA Race cams or an APEXi Controller it would be vey undrivable at low speeds and deferntly rubbish for drag, unless you lauch at 6000rpm.. and by that point it's already engaged so whats the point

Unfortunatly the fast and the furious films have far over estimated the civics abilitys, even though they are good cars especially in UK Type-R trim... :laugh: they will not beat a viper...

Down santa pod (uk drag strip) my friends stock type-r pulled a 15.1, my prelude (h22a5 engine) pulled 16seconds , sisters crx del sol did 16.1seconds (b16a1 engine) and my mate in his accord (f22 engine) did 16.9 seconds

so a 12 second runs out of an ecu modified civic...... impressive :huh:

sure they can be HEAVILY modded and be really fast, but why someone would shell out for $20,000 for a brand new civic and another $60,000+ to mod it is beyond me... when you can buy an m3 for around $50,000 keep it stock and still smoke that modded civic :no:

First off, let me say that your friend suffers from a case of "Rice-itis". One who drives a Honda and thinks they can conquer the world. To cure this problem is a task but a swift kick to the nuts will usually do. No matter how many times their Honda is spanked in a drag or racing contest, they will always blame some unseen factor. "Ohh, I got a bad start." or the favorite "You cheated...let's run 'em again." and they get beat time after time but never learn that they're just wasting gas.

A stock Viper would simply chew on a Honda Civic given they're at the dragstrip and both have professional drivers behind the wheel no matter what your friend has done. Yes, there are fast Civic's out there, but no high 12's civic will ever touch a 500hp Viper which tends to rock low 11's or thereabout.

Again, give your friend a swift kick in the nuts and say "Get over your Hon-DUH...!"

all you guys say civics are rice. There are civics that aren't, and can easily beat a viper. You say it costs $20,000 + $50,000 to mod a civic? Try $5000 + $15,000 to beat most cars on the road. If you tune it right, they can be very good race cars, drag or track. And it would be much cheaper than buying a stock performance car. The only reason to get a car like a viper or an M3 would be for more comfort, style, and exclusiveness. If you want pure performance, a civic can give you that for much less. You guys need to learn to stop saying every civic or Japanese car is rice.

Yeah, if you want a quick speed boost with a civic all you have to get is a few stickers. Some flames on the side, the word civic spelled out on the front window, and a couple of stickers of parts you'll never own are good for at least a 100+hp boost. :whistle: You can sink $20000 into a civic and it'll be fast but in the end you still have a civic. That's about as dumb as buying a $1000 car and sticking $3000 rims on it.
