IE still must remain in your system for access to sites such as Windows Update, so its here to stay, but I browse primarily with FireFox or Opera. About returning to using IE7, gotta wait for its release before passing any judgement, although I doubt I will.

I wish Netscape was the real Netscape and not AOH$LL... I miss Netscape Gold 3.0 :) If Firefox could clean up the interface a bit make it more stable, sharper made it work with more IE oriented sites I would use Firefox, but since web designers go for the coding that works best in IE, IE it is. And I am not a big fan of MS. But you have to go with what works... Using IE today makes me miss what the real Netscape offered back in the day.

Big reason I may not update to IE7, you know Microsoft is going to be putting in all this extra MS crap, like Messenger this messenger that.. Can you even close Outlook or Outlook Express without MSN messenger notifing you that it's down at the bottom, you can click me to log, without closing Outlook too??? I just want a web browser I don't want to have popups about everything MS has to offer. Thats why I dont use AOL IM or Yahoo IM or MSN messenger, POP ups and ads everywhere. Just give a web browser that has great FUNCTIONALITY and leave me alone. I should not be forced to have MSN Messenger running whenever I open a single MS application.... I can only see the amount of crap IE7 will come bundled with.

In your opinion. In the opinion of people who don't care about the nerdy background stuff, and who just want websites to simply work (and yes, a lot more websites work in IE than FF), IE is King.

That thing about a lot more sites working in IE than FF is rapidly changing. Web Masters are getting fed up with IE and aren't waiting up for it. Most large sites employ hacks nowadays just so they look alright in Internet Explorer. I wish all of them would just declare incompatibility with Internet Explorer and tell people to use a better browser.

To be honest (TBH), I've nullified the use of Extensions in Firefox by being too lazy to install them. I'm just using Firefox 'out-of-box'. And I still prefer it to IE. That and include my permanent inner derision to Microsoft and I'll won't 'use' IE out of choice, only because I'm forced to because of Windows Update.

Generally I'm not browser fanboi, but I do need to see an advantage to switching. Basically a new browser would need to offer more than what I have now, in a way that would take less energy and time to switch than to add said features (ones that are compelling to me) to the browser I currently use.

Seeing as FireFox doesn't overturn the scales to get me from paying for Opera, I'd be very suprised if IE7 could, but hey, you never know. And, unlike firefox, I'm guessing I'll be downloading IE7 whether I want to or not, so I'll get to trial it at windows update at least. Monopoly power at work folks.

    • Samsung messages is still alive and well. They reversed that and decided to our more effort into it.
    • I think every American should have a course in a 'dry sense of humour' at school; and perhaps 'using sarcasm in jest' oh, and also 'the use or irony in humour'.
    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
