In Egypt, there is an IGCSE (International general certificate of secondary education) and we get grades by SMS.....The current IGCSE system follows the Cambridge syllabus which isn't really different than the London syllabus....and neither is IGCSE from GCSE.

I'm well into my last year and I now have

OLs: Math: *

physics: *

IT: *

Accounting: *

Chemistry: *

Language: A (I have no idea how I got an A here!)

Biology: A (and I guess I wanted a * here but A is just as awesome)

AS: Math: A

Biology: A

I'm planning on finishing 4 ALs (taking A2 math and AS physics right now) and hopefully get a scholarship.

What really may hold me back is the fact that I have to take 8 OLs because in case I don't get a scholarship, I'll resort to GUC (German university in Cairo) which requires me to have 8 OLs in addition to at least 2 ALs

That is basic similarity so its a matter of ratios:

length ratio of small triangle to the large one= 9/12 which is 3:4

so

3:4

6:(6+x)

then its basic cross multiplication

x will equal 2

But that is a stupid long way through...you can bascially calculate all this in your mind

In the UK it is time to start preparing for GCSE's (General Certficate of Seconday Education). These exams are taken by 15-16 years olds in 'Year 11', they also mark the end of compulsory education for us  :)

Has anyone started revising yet? Im doing little bits (consists of watching Bitesize videos lol) and I plan to do a bit more next week. I find it really hard to revise, I often just read things and I cant even remember what I have just read  :pinch:

Anyway what are your opinions/tips? Have you started preparing yourself for the exams?

P.S. My first exam is on May 18th (Spanish Speaking  :( )

You should try writing it all out for studying, its what i do. I cant really read a book and remember it all, have to keep writing it out over and over. Of course different people prefer different methods - our learning types are of course different.

you lot seriosuly need to all stop worrying. Gcse results are, 90% of the time, MUCH better than you were predicted or thought they would be.

Moderation is your friend. If the whole country is generally crap at a subject then you can get an A with only about 50%...

put it like this, in 2002, on intermediate maths you needed to get 19%, yes 19% to get a grade C.

Less worried now?

And they wonder why the grades go up every year. hmmmmmmm

    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
