The grade boundaries in the UK are rediculous. On my final maths test, there are two papers, you have to get less than a whole paper correct to get an A (42% or something like that)

Dont forget that at GCSE level in the UK we also have the A* grade.

This system seems overly complicated :s.

Here you take one test per subject, be it Physics, Math, History, Geography, etc.

The ones that are for Post Secondary Institutions are called "Provincial Exams", they are opitional at the end of the Grade 12 (Final) High School year for those students who will be moving on to University or other Post Secondary facilities.

A = 86% (or above)

B = 75%

C = 60%

Pass (C-) = 50%

F = 0 - 50%

A - English Literature

A - English Language

A - History

A - Graphics

A* - Art and Design

BB (Double Award) - Science

GNVQ Merit (equivalent to 4 B's @ GCSE apparently) - ICT

B - Mathematics

C - Maths Statistics (foundation paper as it was an extra GCSE)

And i needed 4 B's at GCSE to get into College so i'm set :D! I'm going to Runshaw College BTW, anyone else going?

What suprises me is I got A* for the exam in which the fire alarm went off, and the teacher had for the first year didnt teach us anything about Business. We probably learnt far more about his ex-wife (he was obsessed) and Japanese cars.

haha! sounds like my AI lecturer from last year, he came out with some fantastic stories about his ex wife...

I'm so pleased with my english and french results, never expected them ever, I didn't do my English coursework until the weekend before it had to be handed in

A* is the top 5% of the country for any of those wondering, and to say that the maths was 'easy' as you only needed something like 48% to get an A is not true from year to year as the percentages needed vary due to the diffculty of the paper and so the year in question obviously had a very difficult paper. In others paper 48% would have only earnt you about a C so it can vary alot. :)

4 As, 5 Bs (6 with stats that I got last year) and a C :D

Science (Double Award): AA

English Lit: A

Maths: A

English Lang: B

Appied ICT (Double Award): BB

German: B

Geography: B

RE (Short Course): C

That means that I have [(4*7)+(6*6)+(1*5)] points to get into college, and I need 44. 69 > 44 so woot.

I have to say, though, that my coursework really let me down. I really with I had put more effort into it; those Bs could have been As and As could have been A*s, but I'm still pleased with what I got :D

I've been getting annoyed with the "critics" who say that the papers are too easy now. I mean we can't win, if we do well it's too easy, but if we do badly, then the teachers are rubbish. Can't they just accept that we are getting smarter?

The papers are basically the same each year. I'm doing modular GCSE Sciences, and if you do the past 6 papers of a module then go into the module you come across all the same questions!!

Why are the grades getting better? The government.
