[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

You can now watch the Reggie interview free at gamespot.

Reggie even mentioned that he saw the Nintendo On video and he was very impressed and said that the person who made it should call nintendo (i guess for hiring or to be assasinated).

link? @ work, can't search :p

Alright. I haven't seen an update on Neowin in awhile, so I guess I'll assume the bearer of news - hopefully new to some of you.

First of all, IGN supposedly has exclusive rights to the Rev. Check out http://cube.ign.com/articles/617/617195p1.html for details. Right near the bottom of that article is my next point.

There's also a port that beams 3D images directly onto the viewer's retinas. Revolution!

Just kidding, but that would be cool.

Or is he? The Nintendo On video was one of the rumors leading to some 3D holograph/VR setup. However, another coincidence is in the mix. Has anyone been to http://cube.ign.com lately? Every image there is a closeup of someone's eyes: Miyamoto, Link, Maro, Peach, etc. Finally, another Aries post this afternoon said something about Googling his last hint: it will bring your eyes in to a whole new world. Typing something like that has brought members to http://www.3dcgi.com. Check it out. I think you will be interested.

Apparently, the 2 Reggie appearences today lead to nothing. But within the last hour or so, the boards over at IGN have been exploding with another secret press conference at 8pm LA time as well as a scheduled leak of Rev. details at IGN soon thereafter. Don't know how true the rumors are, but the N-Game is still fun to play :D

earlier this morning i posted a video of the revolution and ON. i lost it because the link went down.. and i forgot to save it to my hard-drive. does someone have a packup copy. and if so can someone PM me it?

Sorry but are you a moron? Enough of this crap. I no longer want to see any crap rumors on neowin boards. Leave that sh1t at IGN doorstep. I can't believe have the may 19th lies, you guys are still going.

REGGIE & MIYAMATO SPECIFICALLY SAID THEY WILL NOT SHOW ANYTHING ELSE ON REVOLUTION UNTIL THEY ARE CONFIDENT ENOUGH THAT COMPETITORS HAVE FULLY DISCLOSED SPECS AND MADE THEM OFFICIAL.

And for your Aries nonesense, he is refering to this:

It's a gyroscopic game controller. WOWIE! Like we didnt know before that nintendo is going to use gyroscopic technology. This guy is just rehashing old rumors with a new taste. That's all. Even after his E3 BS, you guys still are gullible.

Man just go join a cult and have a mass suicide while you are at it.

NO MORE RUMORS.

nintendo is playing with us.. its quite obvious. If Microsoft can. Can't nintendo? Don't believe any of this. Then don't say anything.

prove this if you expect me to not believe.

cam15hr.jpg

and for the 19th. the day isn't over quite yet.

I'm mainly following sites and not posting important information in here unless i feel its that great.

there are lots of strange stuff revolving that Nintendo ON video.

It's over EST time. I suppose you think everyone in the world is on the net and searching for nintendo rumors. All of the sudden Reggie is going to wake up middle of the night and rush back to E3 when its closed for the day and announce all nintendo revolution secrets so you wont feel anymore dumb that some idiot aries guy is pulling your leg.

Sometimes I am embarrassed to call myself a nintendo fan when I encounter people like you.

Gamenews, finally some who isnt gullible! Its so unbelieveable how easy it is to syart rumours in this forum, all u need is photoshop and a reforged existing rumour, its unfortunate this this forum may as well be closed until leaked development kit pictures are released which isnt for a few months it seems

Gamenews you do not have any right to tell people to stop it, or insult them for it, the people who did this seemed to have had a lot more interest and fun this E3 with just some speculation than you have in all your life.

If people wish to point out coincidences, rumours, and even facts I say let them do so, I do admit I was quite taken in by all of this stuff as were others just because of how many little things there were, and coincidences that connected in a odd fashion. This is a really mysterious console Nintendo has brought to the table, and the patents they hold gave these things life, and people got excited, and I haven't seen a single one of the people who now do not believe what Aries, or any other coincidence led them to believe, say they were hugely disappointed, it's quite obviously that the people who did all this speculation and rumor spreading were also ready and thoughtful enough to understand what it is, and the chances of it.

I suggest you lay off of them.

I stand by everything I said in this thread. All of my assumptions were not based on anything that was leaked in the last few days, albeit, my imagination was sparked. But I based all my assertions on much of the fact that has existed since the conception of the revolution.

OMG, I was jizzing my pants when I heard that nintendogs puppy date was set on may 19th, that was incredibly fun!!!! You are right, all this time I researched for facts and filtered the BS rumors and help people to be more educated on unwarranted speculations was very stupid of me.

Nintendo Revolution is not a mysterious console. It's same console like any other nintendo console was released. 1million rumors come out every time nintendo announces a new product. In all this time, NO RUMOR ON ANY NINTENDO CONSOLE BEFORE RELEASE HAS EVER COME TRUE.

You want to speculate, you better have a WELL RESEARCHED FACTS (this words means simple truths), than some stupid dates and what someone else cousins brother nephews sister said. Just go look at IGN boards and nintendo boards how bummed people are that the rumor did not come true. Now everyone ****ing and moaning like somehow this is nintendo's fault. I hate unwarranted rumors because they damage nintendo's image because morons like aries want a bit of attention. The first time I tolerated, but now even now after his lies have been exposed some of you still go at it. Unbelievable!

Sorry but are you a moron? Enough of this crap. I no longer want to see any crap rumors on neowin boards. Leave that sh1t at IGN doorstep. I can't believe have the may 19th lies, you guys are still going.

I'm sure it's fun going around laughing at people who spent the last few days talking about a Nintendo Revolution rumor... until you realize that you just spent the last few days trying to refute the people talking about a Nintendo Revolution rumor ;)

Not surprising IGN have had hands on with the Revolution.

2 things bother me in that text.

Depending on whether the Revolution is situated horizontally or vertically, its GameCube docking section is located beneath a flap on the right side or top of the unit respectively.

Either they don't know left from right, or they're making up the whole visit. If the machine is horizontal, the flap would be on the left (look at the image and think about it).

The Revolution's slot-loading drive is unbelievably gorgeous when viewed up close. It really is striking. The drive is not just illuminated, but surrounded by a sleek blue light, and it accepts both GameCube Optical Discs and new 12cm discs designed specifically for Revolution. The interesting bit is that the drive easily takes both sizes without any fuss. Gamers just drop any GCN or Revolution title in and it automatically works. Nintendo indicated that the drive is one of the first to intuitively do that.

I see mechanical nightmares waiting to happen on this.

I'm still buying one, though. :p

Nintendo Revolution prototype has no working disc-loading mechanism

Joystiq and Engadget got our grubby fingers on the Nintendo Revolution box (yes, the one behind the locked door in the secret room guarded by a beefy muscleman). We picked it up, we played with the buttons, we poked, we prodded, and we slipped a CD into it. Oops! We weren’t supposed to do that. Guess what happened?

The CD just fell into the box. No mechanism grabbed the edge of the CD and pulled it in slowly, even though the box was plugged in.

To get the CD out, we just tipped the box over and it slid right back out.

There was nothing obviously fake about this prototype except for the funny CD mechanism, but this is certainly curious.

Gamenews: STFU! I'm sorry for that childish anagram, but hear me out. I did not say I beleived any of the hype, I was just bringing some of the latest news to Neowin because the last 20 pages or so are filled with the Rev. rumors.

Dale: If you had been watching the webcams constantly, you would notice that their E3 wall was changing between fireworks and spelling Nintendo out. That image must have been starting over as it says ONI as in NINTEND[ONI]NTENDO.

Anyway, no matter how fake the N-Game was, it was still a fun ride. The community probably created all of it by linking coincidences, but it still has made me much more interested in Nintendo because of it's great fanbase. I used to be an Xbox fanboy, but I think I'm going to be buying Revolution in 2006.

please, ign didnt have exclusive rights to touch revolution, engadget/joystiq actually inserted a cd inside the revolution, yes the ones in teh back same ones ign touched but didnt actually put anything inside, and they said the cd fell in, nothing more, the box is empty, with weights inside it.

this whole may 19 crap was just a big letdown. same with megaton!

Here's my take on all this hype.

Whoever made that video took alot of the steam out of the PS3 and especialy the xbox360 by giving us tons of hopes and making us speculate so much.

All I saw before that was tons of PS3 vs XBOX360, no one even considered Nintendo's offering (well some of us did, but our voices were very small). All this speculation single handidly put Nintendo on the map for this round. And although you may feel let down because you built up alot of anticipation for no reason, in the end it was a good thing. The simple fact that people who thought "let's see nintendo's last console then I don't care" are now actually saying "I wanna see what it can do before I choose a console" which is the way it should be.

Sorry but are you a moron? Enough of this crap. I no longer want to see any crap rumors on neowin boards. Leave that sh1t at IGN doorstep. I can't believe have the may 19th lies, you guys are still going.

You've already been banned at least once. One would think that would have taught you something. It's very simple. If you don't like it here, go away. Neowin does not have a "no rumor" policy. If you don't believe any of this crap, that's fine. Most people probably don't. I don't. That's certainly not a reason to tell other's that they are not allowed to speculate. People are enjoying themselves. Let them have fun.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. I'm thinking they just don't know left from right.

The slot loading thing is really cool. I've been wondering why everything hasn't gone over to slot loading. The only reason I could think of not to is the different disc sizes, but apparently that didn't stop nintendo.

Now I just need a half-height slot-loading SATA2 nextgen DVD writer for my computer. *cough*

It's a prototype... neither the XBox 360 or Playstation 3 prototype worked, either -- all the games were running off of PCs or Macs. That was unprofessional journalism at its finest with that report.

    • My father still uses a programme written in dbase3. Still manages to work with a little help from dosbox.
    • Microsoft hides these secret Windows 11 performance boost settings available on every PC by Sayan Sen Windows enthusiasts often look for ways to extract as much performance out of their systems as possible, and it's often the case that they try and do so while trying to minimize the heat and power consumption. This is especially relevant in the case of mobile Windows PCs since laptops and notebooks tend to get hot and management of that heat and power is harder in such a form factor. As such users often turn to techniques like under-volting which can be used to squeeze out the maximum capabilities of a chip while also maintaining lowered power levels. There are official apps from AMD and Intel with the likes of Ryzen Master and XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility). While these are quite handy, most enthusiasts probably prefer to dig into the BIOS and play around with settings there like Curve Optimizer on Ryzen, which lets users set various frequency-voltage scaling values. These are essentially called P-States. If you are not familiar with them, Processor Power Management is done through Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) P-states and C-states. While P-states or performance pwoer states handle CPU voltage-frequency scaling, C-states deal with CPU sleep states so that some of the CPU functions, which are not necessary at that moment, can be disabled. The P-states and C-states work together to make the processor run more efficiently. It helps the OS and apps determine which cores can be parked and which should be boosted. Of course not every user is an enthusiast or knows the technicalities and integrities of how things like overclocking or undervolting work. Thankfully for them Windows itself offers something pretty cool, though it is hidden by default on all systems. By default, Windows only has two P-States, "Minimum Processor State" and "Maximum Processor State." However, this can be changed with a Registry trick to expand the options under a secret "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown. This essentially enables the HWP or hardware P-States available on a device, and these are not controlled just by the OS itself as the underlying hardware gets involved too. In total there are five Processor Performance Boost Mode profiles that control how Windows requests and allows CPU turbo/boost behavior under the different power policies. They are: Disabled: In this mode, processor boosting is effectively turned off. The CPU will avoid entering turbo or boost frequencies and instead operate closer to its base frequency ceiling. This can significantly reduce power consumption and heat output, but at the cost of reduced burst performance and responsiveness in short workloads. Enabled: This is the standard behavior where boost functionality is allowed under normal conditions. The processor can opportunistically increase frequency when workload demands it, balancing performance gains with power and thermal constraints as managed by the system. Aggressive: Aggressive mode favors performance more heavily, allowing the CPU to enter higher boost states more readily and sustain them longer. This should in theory improve responsiveness under bursty or heavy workloads but increases power draw and thermal output compared to the default enabled behavior. Efficient Enabled: This mode still allows boosting, but with a stronger bias toward energy efficiency. The system attempts to use boost more selectively, avoiding unnecessary frequency spikes when the performance gain is marginal. Efficient Aggressive: This is a hybrid approach where boost is still performance-responsive, but the system continuously weighs efficiency more heavily than in Aggressive mode. It aims to deliver noticeable performance improvements while reducing wasted power in less demanding scenarios. Here's how to enable the Processor performance boost mode: Open Registry Editor: Press Win+R, type regedit, and click OK. Go to: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7 (where HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_) Modify the value of Attributes from 1 to 2 (you can find modify option by right-clicking) After that, exit Registry, you should now be able to see the new "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown menu: As you can see there are now five new P-States or CPPC states or power profile available that help define the boost mode processor setting on your PC. Wrapping it up here's a quick run-down of the settings as defined by Microsoft itself. Setting Description Disabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is disabled. Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) behaviour is disabled. Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Efficient Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Efficient Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows calculates the desired extra performance above the guaranteed performance level, and asks the processor to deliver that specific performance level. Efficient Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows always asks the processor to deliver the highest possible performance above the guaranteed performance level. In the next part we shall be comparing these settings to explore how much of a benefit or regression they can provide in terms of performance and power efficiency. If you decide to change the values on your system and are experiencing problems like crashes or an overheating PC, make sure to revert the steps back to the original state.
