[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

I thought the "Revolution" part of the revolution is supposed to be the controller? I doubt that video is a feature, because that is a HUGE area of space that you'd need... And I know almost everywhere i've played video games in a house... there isn't enough room for something like that.... But it is freaking awesome...

I'm a Sony man myself... but Nintendo is really starting to impress me with this system if they keep it up, I'll definately be getting this along with a PS3 :) (Y)

impress? how?

theres like 2 things we know:

it will by omni-backwards """""compatible""""""

it will have a """different""" controller suitable for anybody...

LOL... well this supposedly online system where you can download all the old NES, SNES, and N64 games... that's mainly the only thing i'm talking about :)

ah yes but think beyond the boundaries... you might not "control" the game with a physical object like current controllers..

585967574

true true... very good point...

as absolutely awesome as that video is... i still don't think that a "controller" like what's shown in that video is feasible... People just don't have the room in their room to use it. i know i don't.

It's not gonna be a video touch mat. Reason being, I don't have enough room for it. If I don't, I know there are plenty of others who won't. Nintendo is not so stupid to sell something that 75% of people won't be able to use...

And even if it was smaller like DDR pad small, or Nintendo track pad small, is EVERY game going to make you stand up to play it? I ussually like to relax when gaming.

Could that be an option for a DDR style game??? Very possibly, but it's not going to be the revolutionary feature. period.

yeah... my sentiments exactly.

i personally have enough room. but the one disadvantage about my room that i play my games in is.. its next to windows.. when its a bright sunny day and i try playing my game. but i can't because the sunlight is too bright and ruining my view of the game.

thats its disadvantage to me.

They don't always keep out the sunlight.

I guess that gaming pad thing is pretty cool, but i honeslty doubt it's the revolutionary feature. It'd be pretty cool. But i bet that's boost the price of the Revo pretty high. Mabye Nintendo plans to add that to their stores for party playing of games on the Revo? That'd be cute.

Just think of a controller that can play Nes, Super Nes, N64, Gamecube and Revolution games.

Only thing I can think of is a lcd touch screen controller.

Actually, with the GCN controller you could play any Nintendo game from the prevoius consoles. Now, the Rev games, that's another story.

One thing I was thinking. If this thread got so big with just the few things Nintendo let out, can you imagine how big it'll get when they release more info, or when the actual thing comes out?

ive been thinking.. if it was a VR system. the funny thing about it would be.. why cant it play virtual boy games?

that cancels out VR.

585974669

Who's to say it can't? ;)

I honestly think the revolution will be playing games in 3d, without the 3d glasess...if you know what i mean. That'd be amazing. And i'd be blown the fck away. But would that require something in the TV? Who knows...

I've been reading around the forums...and the GC is more powerful than the PS2...? That's a shocker to me. It's lightyears smaller than the PS2, and overpowers it. Think about it. The PS3 is huge, and it looks quite powerful. But watch...the Revolution is going to blow the PS3 away. (once again) But it think Nintendo may know what they're doing with this, they could seriously have the Revolution steal the PS3's thunder. I'm looking forward to seeing Nintendo have mroe 3rd party support, it could be as big as the others. If not bigger. Think about it...think about the GC's power, imagine if they'd had more 3rd party support. I'm sad now, and i'm ranting. Bye.

an interesting article about the revolution. just by reading this you would think the revolution is nothing. But one quote caught my eye.

There are two flaps on the top, one which surprisingly houses four wired GameCube controller ports. As you will know, the Rev is fully compatible with GameCube hardware, so it's fully understandable these ports are included, though the significance of their inclusion must not be overlooked. They are there because this machine has a new controller. It's not a gamepad. It is, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, "A Revolution".

How are Gamecube controller ports "A Revolution".

the "revolution" refers to the NEW gamepad....

the controller ports are there just for backwards compatibility

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
