What has Sony done that you can call "innovative?" Eye toy? Please.

I was really afraid of being disappointed by Nintendo. When I first saw it I was just kinda...meh...I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't blown away either. But the more I've read about it and thought about the possibilities I am really getting excited about this. I am definitely gonna save my money for this console.

One of the ideas that got me really excited is really simple, but it would be amazingly fun if implemented right "What if you could use two controllers at once for Fight Night or a new Punch Out?"

You sure would look goofy waving two TV remotes around like a mad man, but it would be fun.

Holy crap I just came home from my gf's house, having auto-convinced myself that Iwata wouldn't say anything, and boom! there's the controller!!

I don't like the design so far, but the posibilities are endless. FPS will rock with this, even for the hardcore PC gamers that don't play consoles cause of the lack of a mouse-keyboard combo. These should be an experience everyone should, well, experiment.

And Ja !! I had set it before, I had predicted it somewhere in this thread, that it would be cool if you could control aiming in a game with the regular control like a light gun. I guess there'll be a lot of FPS and light-gun games coming out for Rev now.

To be honest, I was mildly shocked when I first saw the photo, but the more I read about it and look at it, the more I want one. Which is more than I can say about the PS3 and 360 setups. Kudos to Nintendo for having the extra-large nuts to bet their future on straying from the pack on conformity.

I second that. Even if Rev fails (which I most seriously doubt) and people don't like it, you just have to bow, take your hats off, and take a moment of silence for Nintendo, for making stuff like this, only wanting to make the experience better for ALL gamers. Thank you Nintendo.

So much potential... i can see Microsoft and Sony following soon with this because WOW... i so want to use this now, especially after the possibilities link :|:D :D

Yeah, this is even better than the eye-toy, which btw I consider a very cool device.

-bYtE,Sep 15 2005, 23:37]This is sooooo brilliant it's sick!! Love you Nintendo!

586532327

No one could have said it better :p

When did I mention Sony or the PS2?

I don't get why people call this a gimmick. It's not a gimmick when it has a functionallity. Getting tired of hearing this. Sony also have called DS a gimmick. Think people, think!

I want to play games, I dont want to play with a controller. I shouldnt have to think about what my hands are doing. Cutting up a game pad isnt innovation, its just plain lazy. Look at it. Its still buttons and a D-Pad. The only new features game pads have gotten since the 80s are analogue buttons and sticks. Not that amazing really is it?

Yeah.  Because their stuff doesnt work.

You realize that's in millions correct?

I can see the powerglove making a comeback for these type of games. I haven't owned a console since the snes but this is something I can't wait to try, and if I like it you can be sure I will I will get one.

My head is still running around in circles with all kinds of emotions, excitiment and regret and mournful. Excited because it looks amazing and all the possiblities of what might be hooked into the side of that remote, regret and mournful though because this might be harder to adapt to alot of next gen games. ALTHOUGH seeing that Splinter cell 4 is a definate title, then that means Clancy is on board imagine Ghost Recon with this!!! I can't wait! I want it now!!

As for extra bits costing more, well if we look back at Nintendo's other add-ins they don't drive up the price of the game when they pack them together, at least in Canada they dont, so its a welcome addon.

This might just bring console gaming to grandma, or at least grandpa for simple to use fishing games at the least.

Good job Nintendo, I just hope this works.

I want to play games, I dont want to play with a controller. I shouldnt have to think about what my hands are doing.

Do you have to think about what your mouse hand is doing when playing a PC game? Have you tried a browser with mouse gestures?

Once you learn to associate gestures with tasks you don't really have to think about them, in many cases it should be even easier then using buttons because it will be more intuitive about what motion does what you want rather than remembering what position of button does what. A certain gesture can imply something about what the character does e.g. a sweeping motion as a slash of a sword, a button cannot.

it would be amazingly fun if implemented right

Keyword: if. Lets see if Nintendo delivers.

"What if you could use two controllers at once for Fight Night or a new Punch Out?"

586532483

People will knock each other out. In court the defendant will say "I swear, I didnt mean to knock him out literally."

wow... when i first saw the pic i was like a remote... aww man that blows... but after reading IGN's article about it. It does sound pretty interesting... i wanna get my hands on this... it looks amazing for FPS games... i wonder how would the work that out with 4 other ppl tho... also i kno im gonna knock the person beside me out when i first start using that thing... i just hope i dont throw it anywhere, especially at my tv...

If you haven't already check out the video that someone posted in the other thread, SO AWESOME: http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2005/09/16/443527.html

586532719

Watched it, I wonder if Nintendo can pull it off as shown in that video. Even then it doesnt seem practical (get tired easily).

did this just get announced? cuz i didn't see anything mentioned, and i just happened to be browsing ign when i came across it.

i think it will be pretety sweet, especially how you can flip it on it's side.

Why does everyone think you need to use your full arm's length to use the controller? And why does punching your buddies always come up? It's not virtual reality, people (if it was, those kinds of issues would come up, don't you think?).

The video exagerates movement to point out the idea. When you see an advertisement of kids flinging their elbows up and turning the controller, do you think you really have to do that to play the old racing games with standard controllers? You only have to make the controller move, not your whole arm.

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
