Bah, the thumbstrap is horrible, you need a stylus to use the DS properly.

That's the biggest bull**** I've heard this week. The thumbstrap makes any controls look like last year. You get better control, better feeling and get in the game a lot better with the thumbstrap.

It seems to me many people just misses out on this because they tried it for 1min and gave up. Give it a half and hour and you will never go back again.

Well, I gave it more than 2 hours and never felt confortable with either that or the other available configurations, specially in areas where you're required to perform precision controls, i.e. , the narrow ice passage on the ice world when collecting the "Wall kicks will work" star. It was just a pain. And this is coming from a guy who has collected almost all stars using a keyboard on a PC (don't ask how :ninja: ).

Anyway, we're going off-topic here. I still trust Nintendo, and I'm pretty confident they'll pull off something amazing with Mario 128, just that I don't have the slightest clue what it'll be. And either way, the experience will probably be better than what the conpetition has to offer IMO. And I will get a DS on December either way, cause other than that, it's an amazing system, and fills my personal tastes a lot better than the PSP.

Hah yeahh just to let everyone know that if you watch the 1up.com roundtable, you can see that the controller is very sensative and so you only need to twitch your wrist slightly to move across the full screen.

Im sure thatll work great with fps games

Reggie talks about how their will be unvieling in the next months and says that IGN should make a Revolution (still codename) channel.

http://cube.ign.com/articles/653/653576p1.html

Will Shigeru Miyamoto be there to unveil Super Smash Bros. Revolution? Chances are extremely slim, but if you purchase 3,000 tickets for everybody you know, we'll kidnap him.

are they saying that Miyamoto may be there IF 3,000 tickets are sold?

Im sure thatll work great with fps games

Yup, Most people who used the controller claimed that would probably be one of the better things to use it with.

Unfortunately the person above this post did not realize you were being sarcastic. I'm sure the settings will be configurable. They had a Metroid Prime 2 demo up and all the reporters said using the new controller was just as good, if not better than using a mouse and keyboard for FPS games.

More responses from game developers: Gamasutra.

I have no ideal who this guy is or what his company is, but I love his quote the most:

I shudder to think what the game industry would look life if only Microsoft and Sony were left to duel it out. I could honestly see another crash looming were it not for Nintendo's breath of fresh air. The PS3 and X360 are so homogenized it's not even funny. They both have virtually the same specs and have functionally identical controllers. As a designer I'm extremely excited by all the new possibilities the Revolution controller will bring. As a gamer I'm salivating. When the most innovative thing Microsoft or Sony could come up with is higher resolutions, Nintendo comes out of left field with something that just may be a Revolution. I can't see this thing failing 3rd party support or not.

Interesting...

Although the president does not explicitly reconfirm the omission of HD, Iwata explains that Nintendo feels mainstream appeal is far more important than graphical prowess since current non-gamers have no interest in the visual quality of current games. In fact, he goes as far as to say Nintendo hopes those hardcore enough to care about the graphical differences and buy a PS3 or Xbox360 will also buy a Revolution, since the Revolution will provide unique experiences[/b
Iwata also reveals that Nintendo has approached publishers and developers with gameplay concepts, proposing how their established franchises could benefit from Revolution's controller. The spokesman claims that, "without exception," all third parties have responded positively to such "concrete proposals," and Nintendo has found the meetings constructive and enjoyable. He refused to mention any specific collaborations, but he promised many familiar titles and suggested the Revolution could have a large launch line-up "in 2006."

And another interesting, though not related to Revo:

I wish I was that guy

Miyamoto signed T-shirts, current and classic video games and consoles ranging from the original Nintendo Entertainment System? to Nintendo GameCube. While only the first 200 people were guaranteed a meeting with Miyamoto, hundreds of others received a special gift from him as he unlocked the secret Jack Russell terrier breed in Nintendogs and shared his trainer information. The special feature moved from person to person through the line via the wireless abilities of the Nintendo DS. Owners also were able to share a special voice message from Napoleon Dynamite actress Haylie Duff.

Well, I for one, think that I would bow to him, and thank him for giving me the best moments since my childhood, and getting more.

That too, I'm just saying that the guy is more than justified having a stupid expression on.

Also, LOL at the guy getting his psp signed.

Everyone's probably read this by now:

"We have the new functionality of the Wave Bird controller and we have new ways that players will be able to interact with games," says Miyamoto. "But at the same time, we've retained all the functionality of the classic-style controller, so that people who are familiar with games and familiar with that style of game play are going to be able to have the types of experiences that they're expecting, on top of all of these new experiences that they've never imagined before."

So the IGN mockup was pretty much not that far fetched.

    • Nice, hope they *finally* fixed the issue with the NTFS driver where the system would completely brick during large file copies using the built in driver. It's been broken for years requiring me to use the older, slower, NTFS-3G FUSE driver.
    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues. • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
