[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

SEGA seems to know what they're doing with the DS.  Feel the Magic was an awesome game. :D

Agreed. What made this game GREAT?

INNOVATIVE IDEA.

Its not a port.

Its not multi-platform.

It actually used the DS (WiFi excluded)

Perfect...if we can see support like that for Revolution, and even DS, then we are in good shape.

Nintendo should do something like this.

That'd shut the fanboys up. :D

(Sorry for the 1 minute in Photoshop mockup, but you get the point. :)

Nintendo hasn't ruled out the posibility of doing that kind of thing either :p

Guys, check this out. The guys here have some crazy ideas in the form of mock-ups. The funny thing is that even though they are mock-ups, most if not all are seriously implementable. Some pick here for those lazy enough no to click :p

Interesting Miyamoto Interview

And it's not just Zelda who'll be getting a next-gen makeover - everyone's favourite Italian plumber is set to star in a new game that will "surprise many people," according to Shigsy.

"Mario is and always has been a concept title from his birth. We are always looking for new ways of playing with him, manipulating him, to create something new and unique. We're in the midst of preparing something special for his future, something never before seen.

"Give us the benefit of the doubt. I think we'll present you with a new way to have fun."

Miyamoto also revealed that Mario is getting a brand new sidekick, but kept firmly schtum on the details. However, he did confirm that Mario 128 is simply a working title for the forthcoming game.
"We will be revealing many details soon... While our gamers are sleeping, we're busy thinking up new ideas. But while they're playing, we're playing as well," he concluded.

Mario 128 has been in development for so long it is starting to become a Duke Nukem Forever. That and Nintendo EAD takes their sweet time making games. Mario 128 was slated to show in like the last three E3's, then Miyamoto decided to pull it out saying there are elements of the game no one has seen before and he doesn't want competators to steal it. Mario 64 was pretty much built around the N64 controller so one could probably safely assume that the secret elements of Mario128 have to do with the controller. I just hope Mario 128 can provide the same "WOW" factor as Mario 64 did when first shown.

Words of thruth :)

Hey, I just came up with a crazy idea, can you guys imagine a first-person, online, sword fighting game? Where you control the swings of the sword the exact same way you would a normal one, and fight against your buddies ? Or better yet, the same concept, but with Star Wars lightsabers? Damn, I should stop thinking about the damn controller.

That would be awesome.

Just a game based solely on sword fighting. :D

The only thing is, if someone blocked you in-game, how could the controller stop you?

That is the problem, you won't since it doesn't have force feedback or something like that. I am taking a stab at this, but I am guessing it will have rumble capabilities and if you come in contact with something (say a sword hits a sword) you will feel it rumble. It may come down to something psychological and will take sometime for your brain to be trained that when you feel a rumble you know you hit something even though you don't physically feel the controller.

Just remember Nintendo said they did not reveal all the features of the controllers and the console.

they said they still have some surprises to reveal .

maybe they came up with a way to stop the controlelr or something.

still could be a visor attachment too .

Maybe mario 128 wll be in the first person view lol . all the normal mario stuff but in first person view.

to shoot a fireball you flick the controller

to fly with the racoon suit you move the controller up and down like u would your tail .

lol mario with a sword :)

^^ I'm actually worried about Mario 128. I mean, I have no clue about what they can do to implement the new controller to the Mario gameplay, so I'm afraid they may pull something crazy that maybe won't be that great. For example, IMHO controlling Mario 64 DS with any of the configurations available in the game is really difficult, and kind of like a step back. I guess I'll just have to trust them.

But for all other games, I really excited to see what they come up with

im getting a rev. i mean, its interactive. meaning you will actually have to think and move.

i see people posting about how it might get tiring.... take a break. games arent ment to be played for hours on end.

i usually get bored of a game becuase i just feel like im doing nothing. but if your moving around and having to think about how, it might keep ya interested longer.

OH GOD...

"Touching is good, but feeling is better"

Actually force feedback could do this.

I have a Logitech USB optical mouse called the iFeel...it has basically a small motor mounted inside it, and using techology from (guess who Sony!) Immersion Corp, you could basically 'feel' your desktop. Everything had a different 'texture' when you moused over things, down menus, over buttons.

Revolution could employ this tech to allow you to 'feel' edges and objects, etc.

:)

I solved the mystery. Cookie please.

    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
