Laughing-Man
yeah it could end up being less powerful than xbox in the end You mean the Revolution games will look like the Xbox360 launch games? Sn4k36
The only thing about the next nintendo console is the new controller.. It would be great for those people who move there hands around when they play the games... But i'm one of them few people who don't move there hands around when playing a console or pc game with a controller... If nintendo comes out with a different controller that would be great. Chanser
Well they did say they're going to release a conventional controller shell, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of exercise :D. Bant Veteran Posted December 6, 2005 Veteran Share Posted December 6, 2005 i could care less if it was the same graphically as the gamecube. as long as its got the games, im there. but it wont be a gamecube wrapped up in a new case. it will be plenty powerful, and i expect ign is releasing this information to prod nintendo into an official tech spec release. here are my hopes for the console: cheap to make and cheap to sell helps get them into more homes. cheap and easy to develop for to encourage support and growth in the development community. profit where youve always profited with the games, but sell a wider variety of games and have releases more frequently. i think nintendo could seriously revitalize the industry. i really hope to see better games, more frequently, with many of them by developers we've never heard from before. b mitchell
It is also quite obvious that the Revolution will be more powerful than the GC because porting would be a biatch if the the system didn't compare in any way to the PS3/360. Companies are not going to want to spend more money dealing with huge graphical differences with the revolution. We already know the controls aren't an issue for ports since the Revolution will still have a traditional control alternative. 12Iceman
Nintendo is promising a lot without saying much of anything, which poses the question of not only whether or not they can deliver but what they claim to be able to deliver to begin with. kylejn
If the system is cheap, and I mean, $150 or less, then I'll pick one up. Otherwise, it ain't gonna happen. While we haven't seen any games yet for the system, the controller just seems too, I dunno, simplistic. Nintendo says people want simplicity, but in my mind, simplicity means dumbed-down gameplay. If they can compensate for this with the gyroscope, then more power to them, but I'm skeptical at this point. I've got a 360, and am definitely getting a PS3 (although whether at launch or not depends on Sony's launch price). And, like I said, Revolution is a "maybe" at this point. squishedfly
Hell, I'll buy the revolution...even if it doesnt have HD. I have an HDTV where I live and we get over 30 channels of programming. After watching it, its hard to go back. In my opinion, Nintendo should at least have an addon or "better version" of the revolution for people that have HDTV's. I mean who would choose this... http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/images/s..._sms_pre121.jpg http://graphics.tomshardware.com/video/200...v-corrs-big.jpg HDTV is just so pretty... SonComet
Well this is basically what happened. And what I think will happen with the revolution. 1. GC suppored high def with component cable. 2. Component cables didn't sell. 3. Nintendo Discontinued to digital output to save money. 4. Nintendo see market doesn't care for this feature so they keep it out of next console to save more money off the bat. 5. People buy into, maybe they'll make a later revision with component plug in to see how it goes (as well, they maybe be able to increase the frequency of the gpu with furthered nano technology at this point for no additional cost in order to push games that are demanding every last bit of performance out of the revolution at the higher resolution) There will be surveys and studies etc. before Nintendo considers #5. They're in the business to make money. As far as I know thw revolution has component out still. Just because a console has component output doesn't mean it displays HD. 480p is not HD by any stretch of the imagination. I just hope that in addition to 480p in 4:3 that they support 480p in 16:9 this time around. The revolution won't not display HD because of its output. It won't do it because of its technical specifications. DAaaMan64
Nintendo has consistently downplayed the role of horsepower with Revolution, often saying that graphics have reached a "saturation point" in today's games. Nintendo bigwig Shigeru Miyamoto has suggested that players might not be able to tell the difference between the new Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and some high-definition games. This exactly how I feel too. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/321083-definitive-nintendo-wii-thread/page/79/#findComment-586886043 Share on other sites

AbandonedTrolley
Fact is if its only 2-3 times more powerful than a Gamecube that will do me. Personally I still think that Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube is the most impressive game i've seen in a long time. Considering what Capcom squeezed out of the Cube just think what they should be able to do with three times the power :) And yups I have a 360 in the cupboard unopened :( it's my Xmas present from the g/f :( talk about torture :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/321083-definitive-nintendo-wii-thread/page/79/#findComment-586886313 Share on other sites
kylejn
As I just said, there will be a standard control alternative. No one will be left out. The Rev. controller will be used only at the developers will. Right, right, I know, but if the graphics aren't gonna be up to par with the PS3 and 360, then it's going to be too much effort for third-party developers to port their multi-platform games to the Revolution, isn't it? I suppose Revolution-exclusive games could use the standard controller, but if you're going to be Revolution-exclusive, why not make a game that uses the gyroscopic controller?
