I don't like it.

It sounds more of a product name than a version name. ie. Microsoft Vista would be a good name for a new microsoft product, but Microsoft Windows Vista just doesn't sound right.

I think that it could confuse less computerwise users and they might think its a new addon for Windows like Plus!

If you use a dictionary and look up what Vista means, it's actually a very clever name.

vis?ta

n.

A distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening, as between rows of buildings or trees.

An avenue or other passage affording such a view.

An awareness of a range of time, events, or subjects; a broad mental view: ?the deep and sweeping vistas these pioneering critics opened up? (Arthur C. Danto).

I think it's a pretty good name, remember that Ms can't fulfill everybody's wishes so just go with it.

It doesn't matter what it's called as long as it does the things they say it does etc.

I doubt anybody isn't gonna use Windows Vista just because of its name.

I already know what it means. It means view in spanish and italian. Even so, i made it because the name sucks in my opinion. Note the word "my". People have other views of it. That is just mine.

Certainly is.

What do you see when you look through a Window? A vista. A view.

"Clarity" is also very appropriate.

The name is growing on me, for sure.

No troll - I guess you've never heard of Sam Kinneson?

It's called HUMOR!

Geez - lighten-up!

Humour is a difficult beast on the internet.

Technically, telling someone to "Do the world a favor - help clean-up the gene pool by jumping from the highest cliff or precipice - and no cheating by using a parachute or bungie-cord." could be construed as a rule violation for threatening/personal attacks on another member (Community Rule #4).

As it is, I'll leave it as I think he can bear it as a less than serious comment.

anyway i like the whole 'lighter' look of the flag logo and the non-bold font; which is similar to what ive seen in concepts for the next hotmail. even though the flag logo under some circumstances looks just like a flat design with a spotlight in the center (especially on the neowin front page where they put such a heavy drop shadow behind it, but also just on a white background). i dont like using a noun like 'Vista' as the version marker. especially since it sounds like a program for windows instead of just an upgrade or new version. also on the official page on microsoft's site, the graphic of the two onlookers is a bit silly, it would look much better if they just did the mountain imagery alone without the onlookers.

i would say its the best of names but im sure people will get used to it just how they did with longhorn.

the good thing is that it fuels out community with lots of parodys and jokes about termintator 2 :p perhaps that maybe the name vista should be saying astalavista :p we can have lots of fun with this :D:D:D

i would have thought with seeing the flag in white in longhorn they wouldve done an Apple style and kept the logo white. With every new release they change the flag, they didnt that much in this version. And I hope with the boot screen its in full color and not stamped with microsoft everywhere.

    • How does it compare to the "SeeStar S30 Pro" and the "Vespera PRO 2"?
    • Indeed. And note that those units are MUCH cheaper than this new Steam Machine...ahem.
