Bink over at bink.nu and some other admins have come up with what we should call Vista...

WinVi.

Their explanation as to why..

Vi is the first two letters of Vista

Windows Vista is Windows NT 6.0. In Roman Numerals VI is the number six.

Nice...

"Vista" means "vision" in Portuguese.

So, it's like vision through the Windows...  :p

Windows Vision 2006 would sound nice :) however Windows Vista isn't all that bad, didn't everyone bitch and moan when whistler was called windows xp?

How about WinVi?

Here's the reasoning:

1-Vi is the first two letters of Vista

2-Windows Vista is Windows NT 6.0. In Roman Numerals VI is the number six.

he wrote it exactly the same way as on the bink frontpage! Think first before you post.

nice and fresh i suppose, the old xp logo was looking a bit stuffy.

(shock. new vista logo doesn't have microsoft on it  :o )

Its a nice logo.. I wonder if it hints at all at the final gui colors..

I didn't like it at first, but it is starting to grow on me. Windows Vista = Win VI = (very clever roman numerals) Win 6 = I now like it.

I can handle typing and saying Windows VI

I think it's cool. The word means:

1. scenic view: a scenic or panoramic view

2. view seen through narrow opening: a view seen through a long narrow opening, e.g. between rows of trees or buildings

3. mental picture: a mental picture covering a wide range of objects or a long succession of events in the past or future

Honestly, I like the development names in the Aero/Indigo/Avalon lineup, but whatever, it's better than Windows XRJ2Q or some other garble of letters.

It's also better than Windows Cheeta....etc etc :p

As I said in the front page comments, I think this name is awesome. Way better than XP in my opinion; or using a year or number. ;)
