CNN hit by worm

The worm that CNN got hit by only affect Windows 2000.

Nope. It may affect XP with no service pack (I don't know), but that's not a supported configuration anymore anyway, so who knows or cares.

cibc's headoffice and trading floors got hit today in Toronto, Canada.

I know alot of there pc's were down, probably about 60-80%

Why would only certain places be affected by this virus? Maybe the other networks had their PCs patched or maybe they were just lucky? Please God, strike down Fox News with this virus!! :ninja:

would this effect services like water company ? apparently our town has been without water last 3 hours :( just found out from a neighbour who just came and checked on us see if we were ok seems weird it should happen whilst all this is going on

I can foresee the meeting when this is all settle down. So, what could have setup WSUS that has come out a month ago and update ALL of our pc and we could have gotten an Anti-Virus like TrendMicro Officescan and have it update every half hour and not have any problems and all this could be done without having to do anything...weird

Ah well i can sit here in my chair in the UK at a stupid hour (2am) and know my networks are all patched and our antivirus company has sent us the def updates,

at work today (general motors) our network was also hit with the worm...we had to disable the network for a while

Pleeeeeeeeease we need vids!!! I work for the IT dept. of a state agency (we push out patches and virus updates as soon as they are released) and I would love to take some vids in to show the other guys tomorrow. :ninja:

Confirmed: A string of ATM's running Windows XP were hit in Northern Ontario, Canada. They are constantly rebooting and customers are urged not to use their debit cards in these machines.
