Don't forget this was showed at PDC. It's a conference for developers not for gamers. What they are showing is the next gen DirectX capabilities to developers. So it's more a tech demo for their next engine.

They never did work out realistic fire, I don't know a single game which has it.

There will be Windows Graphics Foundation 1.0 (DX 9.0 optimised for Vista)

and Windows Graphics Foundation 2.0 (which is Direct X 10 optimised for Vista)

Vista should be finished by September 2006 and will be sold in stores by Christmas 2006.

Also people should note that the keynote speaker at the PDC stated that this was something showed why PC will allways be ahead of consoles when it comes to gaming power and reality, quietly indicating obviously that "this is not possible on xbox360" but we all know that anyway
