First Ever Directx 10 Game footage

That's what I was wondering.  "How can they demo that when there aren't (that I know of) any DX10 cards available?"

If this is attainable today, in software, then doing it in hardware won't [shouldn't] be that resource intensive.

I think its more of a time sensitive thing when using the software based rendering. I think it is made over a period of time to demonstrate capabilities. It's not until there is hardware that they can do it on the fly. I may be off here though.

That plant thing was awesome. Finally we can get rid of the 2d bushes. :)

The clouds looked cool too.

It looks great... most impressive features were responsive environments (leaves get brushed aside, rather than going through you) and volumetric clouds - the destructable buildings and incredibly facial details were just the icing on the cake. It's good to see competition with id and Epic - I thought FarCry was much better than Doom 3 and it was released earlier.

The future looks bright, though it would be nice to have a high quality video.

It's only a technology demo - no ingame footage! MGS4 ?ber alles PS3 roxxor not even Next generation PCs will compare. This looks like some german ****

DirectX 10, more like Direct THE END -To Microsoft that is.

lol what?! Why are you bringing the ps3 into this? Dx10 goes much further than the xbox360.

R600 and G90

tech it will be possible on the r5xx series ati cards, but wont be the performance of a true dx 10 enabled card and the same goes for the g70 series nvidia cards aka 7800 etc... I even bet money that a sli (7x00 series) or a crossfire (r5xx series) could play the dx 10 game.

the video tho: omg seriously i keep watching that, so far that looks absolutely amazing! i luv the clouds, the shadowing everyhing :crys:

LOOK OUT!

It's console fanboy with the power to defy logic!

Dayummmmmmmmmmmm.

I was impressed by every aspect honestly. WOW.

We are really just at the beginning of where computer games are heading, and they are already amazing. Bring the future on.

just like MGS4 was a technical demo as well?

anyways Dx10 will have Shaders version 4.0. the footage you saw in video is realtime, not ingame. but this is a software layer, so they believe they can achieve this with hardware

    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
