Hmm. Ok thanks for working hard to get the Forums working, great. But, I don't know if its just the college network, but here Neowin is very slow on loading about 15 seconds per page. Hope this isn't because of the new Servers.

I would try and do a ping, but the Admins here at my College have banned CMD because we had some students doing some DoS attacks on servers recently. :)

So has anyone got the new DNS yet, I am using Neowin5.net/forum

The transfer started at 4:17am EST. By the time I woke up at 8am EST, my ISP had switched over to the new DNS.

That is to say, what used to be neowin5.net became neowin.net

Timdorr, Other than ping time the thing interests me is the number of hops inside the network look at the number of hops once I get inside the cogentco network.

Welcome to the brain**** that's known as Cogent routing. They bounce packets around like they're ping pong balls. I've seen packets of mine go from here in Atlanta to San Francisco to Chicago to New York to Washington DC area to the destination. They might as well just have gone transatlantic to finish off the job... Basically, Cogent routing makes no sense.

So from now on it is www.neowin5.net instead of www.neowin.net? That is annoying and confusing, especially considering Neowin is not called Neowin5.

Just for DNS purposes, since some people have HOSTS files set up for neowin.net and would still be pointing at the old server even after the update. It's only temporary.

It rules! For me though it is a tiny bit slower but I think it is because my browser is still pointing to neowin5.net.

When I go to the homepgae it is neowin.net/forum but when I got a specific forum like back page news it changes to neowin5!

Still overall good job Neowin Staff! Keep it up!

Hmmm... I can go to neowin.net/forum, yet all the links inside point to neowin5.net/forum/whatever... Kind of strange... Is this still a result of the DNS servers or what?

Hey I just noticed that now I know how many stars I have to go to reach the end :D Just 3 left...

Its not DNS. I think its because IPB is still setup to run on the neowin5.net domain, and needs to be changed to neowin.net. It also means that peoples cookies which keep them logged into neowin.net forum won't work, and they'll have to login to post under the neowin5.net domain.

Maybe i mis read but how long to DNS gets fixed? I cant goto www.neowin.net (doesn't load) cant goto www.neowin5.net (says offline) . I have to goto Google, do a chache and click a link. So I've just book marked a topic so its a work around for me but scares me everytime haha.

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
