[Shell Patcher] Tango Icons for Windows

Recommended Posts

I like the updated patcher but I'm not too certain about the mediaplayer icons changed though!
Bandai might like to sue you. I might like to FTP you  The icon is correct, or at least it is what I set it to. Windows Media Player uses one icon for both, so I set it to a generic icon for multimedia. Otherwise you'd have the either the audio icon or the video icon on both audio and video.

Does anyone have Tango Styled mouse pointers?
Hi.

I'm not really convinced we are in need for tango-styled cursors. I fear

the cursors would lack the necessary contrast. I personally prefer if I

can tell what's a cursor and what's an icon on my desktop at first

glance.

Of course feel free to continue working on such a set, I just don't feel

we should be pushing for it.

cheers

(so there's something like that, but hey, Jimmac didn't go for it... personally, they remind me of comedic cursors a bit too much)

I just use the Ubuntu Cursor set. It's Tango enough for me. Where did I put that link?

AHA! Here it is:

It's pretty much BlueCurve/Xfree (whatever it's called now) but it's what is currently being used in Ubuntu 6.10. I like that this set is easy to install :)

@tcm - perhaps maybe you could put the windows emblem in the same position as i have on the tangerine drive meter icons (latest version), for consistency.. i decided on the latest version that having the flag overlapping the bar at the bottom makes it slightly ilegible.

Yeah, I already started doing that.. didn't finish it before today, though.

Perfect! cheers

Lol thats crazy Breakfastclub :p Does ubuntu have its own soundscheme? Mabye use that if so

Yeah, a Tango Sound Scheme doesn't exist. It'd be like Shakira's 'Objection'. :p

THe Ubuntu 6.10 sound scheme is pretty nice and I think it exists out there for Windows XP (haven't looked and don't really want to) but it sounds very er...African. It's very Ubuntu. I don't think the Tango Icon Theme needs a sound scheme ;)

Hey, guys, this is your old pal FH here. I'm sorry to say that the Tango Winamp skin hit a little snag.

But there is good news. Y'see, I noticed a skin by Bunji called Airo, which turns the Winamp classic interface on its head, so to speak. I'm going to use it as a visual reference for the Tango skin, which (like Airo) will be a miniskin with only the playback buttons and seekbar visible on the main window. How this will work? You'll see... as soon as I can work out all the kinks...

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
