I'm not in the managed beta; got WLM .0365 through invite, but from what i've seen in this topic:

- Still the huge borders around the contact list. What a waste of desktop space. A 2px or 3px border would be enough, I think. And keep the user information area and the contact list area the same width please, it's ridiculous the way it is.

- The status icons... I think putting the status signs in the .0365 build icons would have been a much better idea. Or even giving them different colours to sort them out, instead of putting these back to service in most of the UI.

- The user info area and the window header should be as one, not this mess.

- There shouldn't be such a huge space between the border of the display picture and the display picture of our contacts, when the DP thumbnail is enabled.

- Align the user info area to the right, and keep the rest of the stuff left-aligned? (in snsn's screenshots, the others are too small to actually see things clearly) I'm speechless. It was good as it was, left-aligned.

- (edit) Just saw the chat window. Why do they keep insisting in huge borders around the display pictures, and (good) small ones around the chat area itself? Please, discard the huge borders. And the space for the webcam and DP options below... shrink it too, it's too big!

So... who in the UI team forgot to take their medicine today?

And a question: Was anything changed in the preferences window? They should use a 32x32 icon for each category besides the title, like Firefox / Thunderbird / a lot of other applications have. The way it is, it's too much blank space; and the 32x32 icons would make it easier to navigate.

I'm thinking, seeing as this was such a step back in terms of UI etc, that the next build will be even better than these two.

Seriously, this build sucks ass atm, I'm going back to 365...

Does anyone have a screen shot of this in Vista? Does it look the same? I'm thinking this: Along with a lot of others I asked for either a theme that took up less space, or the availability to switch to one. Maybe this is the compact theme? I notice that they have made it smaller. Also, maybe they're making a new interface, and just put this one together for the testers. It looks bad so no one will want it so much? Maybe? I was starting to get used to (and like) the other interface. I think light grey looks good on this one, but that's about it.

Hummmmm this WLM is bugging me more and more dispite how much i use it

Sure it feels lighter, quicker, etc... but its on the 7.5 engine im positive, same icons, same options, just an ability to do a few more things and also search through contacts, otherwise im hating this more and more as i use it, the random letters at end of sentances is really pi$$ing me off as well

I just got my hands on this build and I really like it.

Apart from a few bugs, the new UI is really sleek and nice, however they sitll need to reduce the borders more.

I really can't understand the mentality of people who like build 365 over this one. Build 365 was disgusting.

Ok just want you guys to share your opinion, maybe someone of the MSN staff will read this:

Wouldn't it be nicer if the info "<nick> says:" only appeared AFTER the other user replied, instead of appearing in each and every new paragraph?

Like:

> me says:

> bla

> bla

> you says:

> bla

> bla

Instead of (the way it is now):

> me says:

> bla

> me says:

> bla

> you says:

> bla

> you says:

> bla

It would make for a less visually bloated conversation. I think it would be a lot nicer.

Another thing: they should improve in some way the presentation of file sending, the way it is you keep losing visual contact with the progress bar, and have to scroll up all the time. Maybe put the progress bars below the DP thumbnail, off the chat area?

Installed last night when I got the email and good god I dislike the interface. I wasn't a big fan of the first one either, but liked it better than this. They need to take advice from community skinners for miranda and such or somethin. Well, time for bug huntin.

this is what microsoft should be making the gui to look like for msn messenger---->

http://www.upload2.com/?cmd=_viewer&file=2...14cd5d84a4f.jpg

That's Wave11 MSN Glass... I don't think MS will ever release such a Messenger UI, because the artwork isn't their property, but the property of The Messenger Lab. And it won't fit their Vista/XP style either.

I think the good thing about this UI is that you can colorize more stuff. But still, I don't understand why they release such an ugly design as a private b?ta...:

How is this sleek?? Maybe its sleek if your using windows 3.1. This is the most basic looking version of messenger I have ever seen, if this was a cheap java knockoff of msn I would ask why any of us would want to move over to it. Adding different basic colours does not make it sleek.

Might have been good on the first post about all this but I dont think its going to stop anyone now so don't go too nuts at them. :|

What it comes to my mind when I'm using this build is Windows Media Player 10 UI

no, windows media player 10 is not this hideous... this thing has a 2D look to it for the most part, at least WMP10 has the gradients in appropriate places as to make it not look like just a grey rectangle with rounded corners...

It now looks like the same product, not a separate dashboard. Pairing is one tap and zero typing: the generated WebUI password is now copyable, and the QR code carries the credentials — scanning it from your phone logs straight in (no typing the IP or password), then drops the credentials from the address bar. Search Two new providers: RuTor (CIS sources, no login, via a public TorAPI relay) and Torrents-CSV. Results are sorted by seeders (healthiest first), and each search now times out after 15 s so one dead provider can't hang the UI. Files & trackers Per-file priority is back: right-click a file in the detail panel to set Skip / Low / Normal / High. Rename an individual file inside a torrent (double-click or the file menu), separate from renaming the torrent. Remove a tracker from a torrent (the ✕ on a tracker row); adding was already there. Smart Paste on Ctrl+V — paste a magnet, a 40-char info-hash, or a .torrent URL straight from the clipboard and it's added immediately (text fields still paste text normally). Covers & titles Anime fansub naming ([Group] Title - NN) now resolves to the right show. Audio channel layouts in titles (DDP5.1, 7.1, …) are stripped so they don't pollute cover matching. Under the hood The legacy QWidget interface is gone. QML had been the only UI since 3.0.0 (reachable old code lived behind a hidden --legacy flag); with parity confirmed, the entire QWidget layer — main window, every dialog, the theme manager — was removed (~13,400 lines). The four restored actions above were features that backend already supported but the QML port had never wired. macOS: the WebUI password hash moved out of the keychain into app settings, so launching the app no longer pops a login-keychain password prompt on unsigned builds. The actual password still lives in the keychain. Cleanup: ~400 orphaned translation strings and a batch of dead code removed; internal duplication collapsed; an ARCHITECTURE.md added for contributors. Unit / security / memory tests and the ASan/UBSan/TSan sanitizers stay green.
