The Official NDS Homebrew Thread

I use WEP with 64bit encryption and it works. Try configuring a static IP and make sure the online settings work with an actual game. I think most homebrew use the Wifi settings on slot 1 so that is what you should configure.

If it doesn't work find your router in the Nintendo Wifi site and see if you need to change any settings: http://www.nintendowifi.com/consumerservice/routerSetup.do

DSAIM 0.01e has been released:

Alright,

I'm satisfied with this enough to make the first release. Make sure you read the instructions!

This version is still very limited. I've only tested it with my linksys router, and a few AIM usernames. I hope that you are able to log in. We'll see.

Anyway, let me know if it works.

Thanks for the support!

I haven't tried it as I don't use AIM, but it seems to work great. Some people are reporting that thier contacts names don't show up, but over all it seems to work very well for an initial release.

For those of you who own or intend on buying an EZFlash cart, their official English forums are here: http://ezflash.sosuke.com/

Ji@nBing, could you stick that link in the OP? :)

Done ;)

Here are a few more pics of the SC Lite:

I just tried it. Works great!

Still doesn't work with WEP on tho.. Just like MSN.

A few pics of the M3 Lite have been released (M3 Lite is due out August.15th BTW). Personally I like the looks of the SC Lite because it loads from the front. With the M3 Lite, you will have to take it out of the DS every time you want to remove and put back in the MicroSD card.

I'm sure it's photoshopped, you shouldn't be able to read the text on the MicroSD card, the card reader should be covering most of it. Someone on another forum reckons they're just photoshopped G6 carts.

Plus, you see that circle (presumably the battery)? It's visible through the MicroSD card. I don't think I'll trust any pictures of the Lite version of the M3 until I see a video of it going into a DSL and running.

I forgot to mention, I've entered my guide at the 1st post in the competition on the Unofficial Supercard Forums (1st prize is a brand new DS Lite :) ). Voting starts I believe Monday. Anyone who wants to register there and vote for me, I would appreciate it. In the end it's the admins who decide who wins, but they will take # of votes into account. I don't really need another Lite, but I wrote this guide for you guys here, and I may as well win something for it if I can :p . My user name is Madrigal BTW.

My thread.

The contest folder.

I hope you win. :yes:

I just found out that the SC doesn't support download play :(

I wanted to try Band Brothers (as well as other download play games) with my friends, but it didn't work, because their DS's just freeze at the Nintendo logo white screen after downloading from my DS.

Is there a way to fix this or is multi-card the only way to play multiplayers?

it's not that SC doesn't support it. it's the key. basically you're not using an original game cartridge, but a passme device. hence, the other DS must be using a passme device too. otherwise it just won't work.

so it kinda goes like:

original -> original = OK

original -> passme = OK

passme -> passme = OK

passme -> original = FAIL

get it? :)

Do you mean the Lite one (the new one) or the older, Supercard SD version (the purple-ish one)?

None of the Supercards have the hardware required to make a GBA game run correctly, namely having enough RAM. That's why the M3 Pro line is cheaper, it also forgoes GBA support.

    • It is silly there is no simple way to check whether this profile has been activated. CFRs are normal, but trying to even hide the fact if it's on / off seems silly, especially for something so user-facing. Surely Microsoft is "proud" of their engineering efforts on this one and ought to display it somwhere in the GUI.
    • Many Linux distros are not known for excellent battery life, so I'm not sure that is the best example. A more apt example may be Apple, but Apple's CPUs are simply far more efficient than Intel & AMD at single-threaded tasks like these, so "boosting" is not as power-hungry and less heat-inducing. Not to mention Apple will hardly engage P-cores for basic UI tasks; they use a pretty complicated QoS scheme to only activate P-cores for more serious workloads like HTML / JS execution or decompression or application launch. Microsoft is (smartly) doing it for launch, but also for UI tasks, which is the more nonsensical part: why ... do Windows 11's UIs need modern CPUs to boost? It should load so quickly that there's not even time for the CPU to boost.
    • I've not seen any controlled testing and, judging by Microsoft's mentality, within a year, they'll have added so much more bloat, it'll undo any perceptible latency benefit and we'll have boosted the CPU clocks for nothing.
    • It depends: heat soak is a thing. Initially on cold boot-up, the heatsinks & heatpipes are at ambient temp. After heatsinks & heatpipes warm up (through normal usage), they don't immediately cool to ambient temp when the load goes away. So their baseline is higher and the trigger point for fans is much less stress. Add a few more CPU spikes → it's too hot to stay at the same fan RPM → fans get triggered to start up up much sooner / get triggered to ramp much more quickly.
    • Can LibreOffice just shut up and worry about themselves and stop comparing themselves? Do we see Microsoft complaining about euro office?
