Microsoft Is Taking WGA To The Next Level

Recommended Posts

LOL I disabled my automatic updates, Oh and I am sure people will start either making ripped copies of Microsoft's updates for pirated copies or will crack the WGA system, again.

I've done the same, but I think you will only download this "popup" update by going to the Windows Update website...I guess i will be downloading the updates individually from now on...

people with such a screen can't afford a genuine wincopy ?

why is there an asian looking girl in front of the screen ?

oh microsoft , microsoft ......

It was released on a Malaysian Newspaper agency.I believe she was a journalist who was inspecting one of the computers on display that had the program installed in it. And what's wrong with the asian girl looking in front of the screen? I don't think you should assume that much just by looking at a picture. I didn't even know that there were still people who believe what is printed on the news  :pinch: . The West is not the only region to have computers and the knowledge to use it, you know  .

The pirates need to be taught a lesson (not like it would really do anything). Sure, back when XP was brand new I admit to having used it (and regret so, but ME was garbage), but eventually picked up a copy. Plus I was in highschool, and there was no way my parents would throw down hundreds of dollars for something that "looks pretty."

I guess asian girls use windows too.

Oh, you don't know my fellow students and lecturers at the university I go to. There are a lot of girls who can put a lot of guys to shame  . One of my lecturers is a master at Maya 7.0 and I can't believe she can even develop a complicated animation using a few simple steps  .

Are we really to believe that a little message will discourage people from using their free copy?

What they should have done is ask for the genuine key, provide a link to purchase one, and give a countdown (like they do for the activation). Once that's expired it should wipe all local partitions.

All I haft to say is I love pc's I don't really like mac's. As you can see everything to servers to laptops I own are windows based. I also must say Mac's and the Ipod are way too overrated. I owned a Mac and Ipod it was cool but thats about all it was is cool.

Okay, I respect that. You've actually used a mac, and outside a store. Macs aren't for everyone.

Cheers,

 That firewall pic is awesome.

Microsoft must underestimate pirates. I wonder what they actually mean by "you cant uninstall it" probaly means it wont be in Add/Remove programs lol.

I give it under a month before its cracked, hey wait I give it 0 days before people will realise they dont have to install it.

I can see it now...

"Microsoft Technical Support line permanently down due to excess number of users complaining that a pop-up window keeps popping up saying their software isn't legit".

BTW, what's wrong with an Asian girl using Windows? What else are they going to use? Linux? Apple?

Jeez the amount of racism in Neowin nowadays. I do agree on one thing, if she can afford a huge screen like that and acts like she's blind, she shouldn't even be using a PC.

I'm curious to see if this will work or not. I have free access to everything on MSDN since my husband is a member, but I choose to use a.. how should I say... publicly available VLK version (when I use windows that is) just so I don't have to deal with all the authentication junk since my hardware changes often (he gives me hand-me-downs all the time).

Patiently awaiting the first notification here.

I'm not exactly sure why anyone would want a pirate copy of Windows anyway. I had one originally and it crashed about once every hour with blue screens. Bought a legit copy and everything has been okey-dokey since.

I've done phone activation once, and it was ok. Wasn't as quick as it could have been, because I was on hold for ages, but it wasn't exactly difficult.

I think it's good that MS are protecting their software, although it will probably be easily cracked. Even if it isn't "easily" cracked, it will be cracked eventually - where there is a will, there is a way.

My only worry regarding all this anti-piracy stuff used in software nowadays, is that it will eventually put costs up for the legit consumer, which in itself will increase piracy.

as if every pirated copy of xp installed in the world was crashing every hour ...

anyway i was waiting for a sign of microsoft to make me definitely change my main os, i guess that's it. soon you'll have to pay twice the price of your hardware to buy an os and be able to write a letter ...

    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
    • Just saw a news report of a Waymo driving into a flooded road.
    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. GH1749 In the Master Password Setup window, "Show Master Password" is no longer truncated on some displays. GH1092, SF1595 Size and position of main window is now correctly restored on scaled displays. SF1630 Keep password expiry date when both password and password expiry are changed; don't clear a non-recurring expiry when the password's changed. SF1628 Custom values can now be copied to the clipboard in read-only mode via Ctrl-C and right-click->Copy Value. New features GH1196 Dark display mode support: Password Safe now supports the system display mode, as well as setting the mode directly via Manage->Options->Display->Display Mode. This change also updates the general "look & feel" of the app to the current Windows theme. Known limitations: The Date picker and keyboard shortcut controls do not switch to dark theme The Customize Toolbar dialog does not switch to dark theme Custom Field support has been added to the more advanced features: Filters XML and Text import and export Comparison, Sync and Merge databases SF938 Custom field values may now be selected by name and copied via a "Copy Custom Field Value..." submenu in the entry context popup menu. SF936 Notes and Custom fields layout now overlap, selectable by tabs, resulting in a more compact and less cluttered layout.
