Why not just build on top of an Open Source project like GAIM. Afterall GAIM, even beta 3 is pretty darn stable.

gaim is on version 2 beta 5 and is rock solid. trillian is annoying as it wont uninstall itself properly. plus the pro version costs money and gaim does it all for free :D

I personally find Trillian looks "cleaner" than gaim/miranda, and I'm not sure how to fully convey this in words. It's just a general polished look/feeling. Also their log manager is excellent, I have logs going back several years and it's very easy to jump to a certain date/person with Trillian.

Alpha signups

Please use the below form to sign up for Trillian Astra alpha testing. There is no guarantee that you will be selected should we receive too many responses for a given testing period, but all names will be considered as long as there are available slots. Eventually testing will be open to the general public, so everyone will get a crack at the build long-term.

Pro member names are optional. Please fill out the rest, and let us know a little bit about yourself and your testing environment in the provided blurb field (OS, CPU specs, etc). Thanks!

I would have to agree with the general feeling that this is a ridiculous length of time for a freaking IM client.

They will need to show me something very impressive if they think they will get my money. A pretty face doesn't do it for me.

Oh, and the fact that they ignored the request of tons of users for a native UI option...well that is just sad.

Heh my friend said it best on AIM earlier - "these guys are worse than Blizzard."

That looks like a skin that could have been made for Trillian 3.

I donated to their cause back before they had a "pro" version. I got the first Trillian pro for free because of that. I haven't sent them a dime since. Back then they were releasing point updates all the time, fixing bugs, improving features, the usual bag. About when 2 came out a good 6 months after the previous release (or something, I'm sure I'm wrong, get over it) I decided it was not worth my "subscription" money to keep updated. As it stands, I sure hope they give any recent suppliers money back since it's been about two years since the last build version has been released. Why would anyone pay for updates that never come?

****ty business practice if you ask me. I'd be one thing if they offered a few updates in the meantime and maybe at a major release like this charge $5 to upgrade, but I'm not going to keep paying for software that isn't regularly supported just to be able to use it.

Should have been called Trillian Vista. :)

    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.171 changelog: General Fixed Cardano not being disabled on upgrade to Brave Origin. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103.
