Vista will finally be getting XP caught up (feature wise) with where OS X was with the release of 10.4. Unfortunately, 10.5 will most likely be shipping around the same time, if not sooner (given the recent announcement that Vista's ship date may be slipping AGAIN), and will take OS X to the next level.

That is so far from the truth it's not even funny. Leopard is not going to contain anything that sets itself apart from Vista. It's going to be ever so slightly ahead of Vista at best. Seriously, it is very amusing listening to these Mac people claiming how superior there OS is...it really is quite funny. I own a mac mini, I've used Tiger plenty, and I will get the preview release of Leopard. That being said, I am also a Vista beta tester and I can tell you right now that Leopard doesn't have anything planned that will blow Vista away.

Continue on with you delusions and I will continue on with my opinions and we're all good and well...

Why all the talk about Vista? It's WWDC 2006, it's Apple and their new hardware and OS X. If I wanted all the great incomplete features of Vista, I would go in the Windows/Vista threads.

Lets get this back on the topic. I'm looking forward to the new things OSX will be able to do on my Mac.

A good thing to see in leopard maybe would be a type of media center like windows media center that supports live tv etc because front-row dosent ;\

again is there any links online in some-sort of windows format that stream live or somthing of the keynotes or anything ?

I hope your right, id love to get a media center via mac, but there Media center software isnt on par with windows yet IMHO for this reason alone. If i could toss a mac under my tv i wouldnt hesitate...but i need a dvr setup and Mac's do not have it yet

Wait wait wait, so you know what Leopard is going to offer to the table? Funny cause besides some people at Apple, us consumers know diddily squat until 2.5 hours from now. It is however reasonable to suggest that since Tiger offers a feature set comparable to Vista (spotlight, dashboard, etc etc etc) then that Leopard will offer a set of features that adds to something that is already equal to Vista. 1+3 does not equal 1 ;)

But we are slowly drifting into another flamefest over something as stupid as unreleased OSs. Lets just all discuss WWDC and its goodies that it has to offer :D

Both: +1 (Y)

I know it's a long shot, but I'm praying for new iMac's. I've got my finger on the "buy" button Steve, just say the word...

Same here!

ha... I created an account and was banned from MacRumors in under 2 hours. They apparently ban people for trolling when they simply don't agree with/don't voice the same Mac-loving opinion. Now that is funny. That has to be some kind of world record. ;)

As far as I know there is no official live webcast of the keynote...I could be wrong though.

Why would you join the premiere mac forum, and try to opose the general concensus unless you were trying to make trouble. It's like going into a Honda dealer, going TOYOTA's RULE!, and wondering why security booted you out...

Think about it dude.

I'll be a bit miffed if there are new Mac Mini's already.. just bought a Core Duo for myself for work no more than a month ago!

There is no live viewable quicktime stream sadly.. you have to rely on the text updates from rumour sites like MacRumors...

I'll be watching (well reading) like a hawk :D

1.5 hours to go! :D

I have a feeling the Mini's will be updated, to the next level intel chip. They haven't been updated for a little while, and Apple always seem keen to push these little units.

That's weird about the web streaming. WWDC has always historically been a streamed event. Infact Steve usually says something along the lines of "Today we have 250,000 viewers online across 80 countries"

I'm hoping for great things from Leopard I must say. Apple has a real chance here to catch disillusioned Windows users on the rebound.. lets hope they realised this and are really working their backsides off on making Leopard their best OS yet.

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
