Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

I have a feeling that the first episode of the 4th season will be about what Locke experience with Walt, what he learns and where he goes off to afterwards. I dont believe Locke would leave the Island either even if there were a rescue. So I dont believe he is the dead guy.

and according to the Oceanic Airlines site they have cancelled all flights. How can he have a golden pass to anywhere if the company doesnt 'exist' anymore.

Good Finale though. Waiting until Feb is going to be so horrible. x.x Damn you lost writers!!!!

As we said...its the future...like 2006...so who knows what happened to Oceanic 2 years after the plane crashed they might be back up and running...plus that site is way old...I really hope we have something in the summer...

wht i dont get is that fact that he closed the door first then mr one eye (i dont need to die) blows the bomb... and wht about des sayin that cha turned to switch then died... and wht about jacks dad being alive? in the end its a tv show made for to watch so ill be coming back next season.

my 2 cents:

I think Charlie could have survived as well, but he knew he was gunna die and was at peace with his decision to sac himself. He also saw Des make a b-line for Pen's pic on the monitor and recognized his tunnel vision. In his last moments of life Charlie saved Des' life and warned the losties about the ship (if Des ever gets the message back to the group)., As for Mikhail, I think hes dead now for good. The harpoon was enough to kill him, I think he was dieing and wanted to take them out as well. If you notice, the gernade goes off while its still in his hand. Also I think Charlie accepted that death was always gunna be after him and just kinda accepted it.

How did I feel about the season finale, ok... there are two types of WOW moments- moments where visuals are used like last season with the hatch exploding and then times where you just get mind W$#@ed and for me realizing that the flaskback was actually present (or future) flashes was awesome! :) My theories:

Whos in the coffin?

I think it was either Ben or Michael, I dunno. Jack did lose it when he found out about the death, he almost commited suicide over it! Maybe its Juliette? Whoever it was , Jack had an extremley close attachment to them.

It could be POSSIBLE that we are witnessing an alternate universe/timeline where Jack's father is still alive. I mean, it is very very very possible that the two times Jack mentions his father in a present tense (at the pharmacy and at the hospital) he could have had a delusional rant, but i want everyone to keep their mind open to this possibility. If this is the case, then we could be talking about alternate realities and timelines experiments on the island. I mean last season finale, didnt we see Jack's twin in the arctic? They havent even addressed that!

I think Naomi (omg why do hot chicks keep dieing) is NEW Dharma and Dahrma has been looking for the island ever since they lost it to the others. Im thinking its hard to leave the island (not impossible) as long as you know the heading, but its impossible to get to the island, unless you have something to lock onto. Which also brings up a good question: if Ben was jamming all signals so noone could get a lock on the island, then how did the others leave and come back? very interesting.

How much u guys wanna bet the 4 toed statue is directly related to the temple the others are going to :)

If seeing dead relatives makes Ben special, What about Jack, Locke and Hurley who have also seen the same thing? I mean Locke is getting cozy with the others, but I think the others are def overlooking Jack and Hurley's potential (if they know at all about their visions).

What about the button? and the other hatches? are all the questions concerning that stuff just gone? forgtttennn?!

OMG what a complex story sooo awesome to discuss! :) soo many questions- too much time until next season!

Its that same old theory isn't it....Lost answers one question and in turn opens up more....:D

lol honestly sometimes doesnt lost doesnt even answer questions! sometimes when you think your about to get a straightforward answer they hit you with more questions and never answer the earlier questions! sometimes it gets irritating, but i dunno, i still think its great story telling :)

First bit of Season 4 Info which isn't Spoilerish....

Next season of Lost will feature BOTH flashbacks and flash-forwards.

Yes, but there would have been a pocket, not the water-filled room we saw. Plenty of time for Des to get him some air tanks while they figured out how to get him out.

I doubt that. Desmond would have to gear up, swim down and around, I just don't see him having enough time, not to mention the pressure coming from the ocean that would've likely filled the room. There was no sense in fighting it. Charlie believed it was his destiny, so what's done is done.

- Charlie's Death

Charlie died because he had to for Claire and Aaron to get rescued. As Desmond said earlier. He could easily have escaped by closing the door from the other side (the system was already shut down). But he sacrificed himself for Claire and her child.

- The Hero

It's a bit odd that flight 815 goes down, the survivors struggle on an uncharted island for at least 90 days, get rescued, and nobody recognises them when they come back to civilisation. When everyone called Jack the 'hero' for saving that woman, why did nobody say "hey, aren't you that guy from that island?". Either this is not the same Jack and Kate, or they are being censored.

By them not being the same Jack/Kate, I'm speaking in the same way that the plane wreckage was found and they discovered their bodies. I think the island is a sort of portal between parallel possibilities. In quantum physics (as I shadily understand it), the solution to Schrodinger's Cat think excercise is that there are parallel universes and every time something is seen (observed), the universes collapse in to one state. So the cat is both alive and dead in different universes, until you look at them, at which point only one outcome exists.

So there are all these parallel universes, and because, as Ben says, nobody can see the island (not even God), all those universes exist at the same time. It's a sort of medley of all possibilties of all choices. So there is actually a real plane from 815 that crashed with no survivors, but that's another universe. It exists as the same time as the plane that let our losties live. And that's also why Desmond can see the future - some electromagnetic weirdness turned him in to a little island - he can see all consequences to choices.

I think the surviving Jack/Kate go in to the universe where they died.

Let's face it: they didn't give us enough to go on. Period.

They did this on purpose of course, knowing we'd obsess over this for the next 9 months and drive the ratings up; so we're not going to just figure out something that fills in all the cracks.

What I still don't understand is that the writers keep saying everything on Lost can be explain logically. But we see people like Desmond who sees the future, the island heals, supernatural stuff like smokey, visions of Walt, Lenny, Jack's dad...etc. And most of all, all the coincidental connections between the losties that lead them to the island. Also, how did Mikel get personal info of the Losties. Like Sawyer killing an innocent man or Locked getting screwed by his biological father.

They have to kill off walt sometime. Otherwise he is going to cause big problem. He was something like 13 when the show started, and would be 18 by the time he ends. Where as on island so far it is still less than 6 months since crash.

Children age quickly on the island, I do believe. You saw what happened to Ben. I'm not sure thats he aged normally and the "hostiles" just didn't age at all though. :\ But the children from the plane certainly looked "older"

Yes, but there would have been a pocket, not the water-filled room we saw. Plenty of time for Des to get him some air tanks while they figured out how to get him out.

Doesn't it all work on pressure? The hatch door is air tight so there would have been no way to control the water level?

I think Naomi (omg why do hot chicks keep dieing) is NEW Dharma and Dahrma has been looking for the island ever since they lost it to the others. Im thinking its hard to leave the island (not impossible) as long as you know the heading, but its impossible to get to the island, unless you have something to lock onto. Didn't Ben say the hatch explosion last season took out the sonar for the subs?

What about the button? and the other hatches?

The buttons pretty redundant now that there isn't an electromagnetic pulse trying to go off. Desmond turned it completely off when he turned the key.

They've been exploring for other hatches.... (looking glass). I mean, there is no reason to go to the other hatches that they have found

Michael Emerson Interview...

Now that the finale has aired, do you have any freaking clue what’s going to happen when you start shooting again?

No, because I didn't know what the end of the episode was until I watched it. That was a secret scene with Jack and Kate — only Matthew [Fox] and Evangeline [Lilly] were given that text and it was shot in secret. I had to wait until last night to have this earth-shattering revelation: Now not only are we going to live in the present and the past, but also the future. And the little things they dropped made my hair stand on end!

Like what?

Kate and Jack got off the island somehow, but other castaways didn’t, and they’re sick about it. And who’s in the coffin? And who is Kate living with?

Sawyer?

Or is he dead or on the island?

Do you have sympathy for Ben's character?

I have full sympathy. I believe he has a mission and an agenda that he hasn’t shared with us yet. The survival of the earth may depend on Ben’s work, so it justifies his ruthless behavior. Maybe I’m just fantasizing or deluding myself.

Is Naomi, the British woman who parachuted from above, really bad news?

She’s a messenger from the dark side. I think we can take Ben at his word. Whoever is on the boat that they just called mean them no good. As soon as we’re in season four, I think we’re gonna discover that everyone is in deep trouble.

Right, there are a great many things that the Others know about the Losties that is not on record, as you've noted. I think, for the most part, things will be explained logically, but I highly doubt everything can be. Connections can be fate, but knowing things that no one should know, that's something else. And the plan crashing with around 50 survivors? Yeah...

Still, I look past that because there's more than the natural going on in the show, which is why I'm so intrigued by and into it.

Michael Emerson Interview...

Thanks for sharing. Kind of funny no one on the cast knew how the episode was going to turn out.

What I got from it.

- Kate and Jack get off the island

- Kate isn't with Jack

- The islanders aren't famous upon return

- They have free flights, which leads us to assume Dharma gave them things to keep quiet, not that they'd be believed anyway

- Jack goes to an islanders funeral, so we assume others get off the island to (I assume its an islander, why else would he be so bothered)

- The others are significantly reduced in numbers

Honestly without some sort of cliff hangar it was really pointless and not as great as I was expecting. Lame in all honesty.

    • 1. Define "better". 2. It's still more expensive than equivalent PCs so... And there is not one Windows platform. This is the mistake ALL Apple oriented people make. Apple is one OEM. You could reasonably compare them to one PC OEM, say Dell or HP. But you can't compare them to ALL PC OEMs. Case in point, Apple has NO touch screen MacBooks. No tablet Macs. There are no rugged Macs. The variety of PC OEM design is insane. With Apple, you have... Apple. The problem is that you're starting with Apple as the definition of "good" then filtering out anything that isn't close to an existing Apple product, then trying to homogenise all of those left into a fictional product line and then ignore any innovations to create a minimal feature subset so you can say "See! Apple better!" PS: I was an Apple dev for 17 years and helped develop MacInTalk and disability solutions for Apple, and worked on Microsoft Office for MacOS - and I have several Macs and MacBooks - so tread very carefully.
    • Major Xbox layoffs may claim South of Midnight developer Compulsion entirely by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft has been making major changes in its gaming wing Xbox for a few months now, including the appointment of a new CEO, a large number of leadership changes, and strategy shifts. However, the company is seemingly also looking at initiating a major layoffs wave at Xbox and perhaps even a studio closure. The new report lands from Kotaku, Xbox first-party developer Compulsion Games is being shuttered soon by Microsoft. For those unfamiliar with the studio, it's the team behind Contrast (2013), We Happy Few (2018), and South of Midnight (2025). Its latest game was quite well received, even winning a Peabody Award for its writing. It even received a 9/10 in Neowin's own review, highlighting its engaging storyline, gorgeous world, and curious characters. The studio joined Xbox Game Studios in 2018, just as Microsoft announced it is acquiring Playground Games, Undead Labs, and Ninja Theory. Despite recent listings for new staff roles, according to the new report, Compulsion Games is being closed entirely, with over 90 staff being let go. Kotaku also added that the studio's leadership is in negotiations with Microsoft about this decision, but no official details have been revealed yet. The report lands just as two senior managers of Xbox leave their posts at Microsoft Gaming. Head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan and chief of staff Louise O'Connor originally began their journey in Rare and have been a part of Xbox for over two decades. Dunkan has been responsible for games like Kinect Sports and Sea of Thieves, while O'Connor was primarily working on Rare's Everwild project before its cancelation. If this report about the studio shutdown is accurate, this may just be the start of a major new layoffs wave at Xbox Game Studios. There are also rumors of Arkane Studios being heavily affected. As always, take all these reports with a grain of salt until something official materializes from Microsoft or the studios.
    • The flaw with this analysis is that this laptop has a cellphone CPU in it. In the Intel world, that would be an N150 and those are everywhere, even in low end laptops. You can get an N150 based NUC with 16GB RAM and 256GB-512GB SSD... NOT soldered in... for < $500 Canadian (around US$360). The problem is two fold: tech bloggers/writers on most tech site (like this one, ironically) overvalue Apple and apparently aren't in the same earnings class as most regular people. As a result, we get breathless articles about how everyone needs a folding phone when most people just cannot afford one... or really need one. And we get Apple used as the baseline metric regardless of whether that comparison makes any sense. If Dell or HP released a retail laptop with a cellphone motherboard, you'd be all over them for doing that - but Apple does it and it's genius. I see articles suggesting what Samsung - a company that basically started the foldable phone market and has built them for eight years - needs to do to compete with Apple's unreleased, unspecced and unseen folding phone. Sorry, no - if the Neo (really creative name there BTW - still, better than the Go, the other "creative" product name everyone's using) encourages PC makers to make cellphone laptops using lower end ARM processors, we all lose. It's a step backwards and a capitulation to the fact that semiconductor makers and computer OEMs (and tech bloggers) have totally lost the plot.
