Lost - Season Three

Article about Charlie from Digital Spy...

Lost star Dominic Monaghan has revealed that being written out of the show at the end of the third season could work in his favour.

The British actor, who played drug addict rock star Charlie, told TV Guide: “I've been trying to plan the rest of my career, and there's a whole bunch of opportunities that have been up in the air because I couldn't commit to them because of Lost. It was a little bittersweet to be leaving behind surfing and palm trees and beaches, but I think I probably squeezed the last amount of enjoyment I could've got out of that for a while.”

Monaghan, who also starred in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, expressed his disappointment at the diminishing screen time Charlie received on the show: “To be honest, as an actor I've been kind of frustrated for a while. I've wanted to do a little bit more. The difference between how much the audience got to see Charlie in Season One as opposed to how much they got to see Charlie in Seasons Two and Three was significant. It's been kind of frustrating for me for a while. So I think it's time for me to move on, you know.”

Also the Lost Producer about that Finale we all love...

Lost’s executive producer Carlton Cuse has explained the decision to kill off the popular character of Charlie Pace at the end of the third season.

In an interview with TV Guide Cuse stated that axing Dominic Monaghan from the show was dictated by the narrative: "We felt like we needed to pay off Desmond's prognostications. We thought about various ways in which that could pay off, but, ultimately, we came to the conclusion that the best version of the story was for Charlie to die."

"We gave Charlie a death that was distinctive from any of the other," Cuse added. "He willingly chooses to sacrifice himself, and does it in an incredibly noble and heroic way. It felt to us like that was the necessary story culmination for Season 3 to feel complete.”

Branding Monaghan a "wonderful guy and a terrific actor," Cuse admitted that it was "very hard to say goodbye to Dominic."

Also UK Finale Viewing Figures...

Over 1.1 million viewers tuned in to watch the 'shock' double-bill finale of the third series of Lost on Sky One on Sunday night.

The audience gave the channel a multichannel share of 8.7%, making it the third most popular channel in multichannel homes.

BBC One at that time averaged 1.2 million with a 9.2% share, with Channel 4 averaging 1.4 million and a 10.5% share in multichannel homes. ITV only managed 1 million with a 8.1% share at that time.

The 23-part series has managed an overall average of 1.1 million and a 7.2% share.

On the plane crash: I think it is entirely possible for 48 out of 200 (or how ever many Flight 815 was carrying) to survive with minor injuries. That doesn't mean it is probable, just possible.

Exactly. It doesn't need to be probable, it only needs to be possible. It only needed to happen once for us to have the show. And if it didn't happen, well then there'd be no show, would there?

It's like life on earth. It doesn't matter how probable it is that life generated on a planet, because the very fact that we're here to debate it necessitates that it happened at least once.

Good, hopefully that puts to rest any theories of Charlie still being alive. But then again there's some people who still think Shannon and Boone are still alive

My wife wishes Boone was still alive. The day he died was the day she stopped caring about the show.

lol you guys should discuss how locke survided after been trowed out that building by his fater... perhaps has been discussed somewhere within the 289 pages of this toppic....

sooooo, when season 4 will begin... in 9 months... from now?! is there a firm date?

No firm date, but we do know it will start in February. If it stays on Wednesday night then most likely Feb 6, it is the only date that makes sense IMO (count out 16 straight weeks and the end date would be the exact week of the season finale for this year).

US network ABC is launching a security investigation after key plot points about Lost's third season finale were revealed on the internet before the episode was broadcast.

The two-hour final episode aired in the States on May 23, but spoilers revealing detailed information about a major twist at the end of the season appeared on several websites days before then - prompting staff of the show to wonder what happened.

Lost co-executive producer Carlton Cuse told TV Guide columnist Michael Ausiello that network security is trying to determine where the leak came from, but the large number of people who work on the show means they may never know.

Fellow Lost mastermind Damon Lindelof complained to E! Online columnist Kristin Veitch that the leak was "unfortunate". "It's just disappointing to me that people don't respect the integrity of the show enough to let it unfold naturally," he said.

Cuse and Lindelof promised the third season finale would "change the game" and fundamentally alter the course of the Emmy Award-winning series. Australian fans will have to wait until later in the year to see if they live up to their promise.

I hope they find the ****** who leaked it and fire his ass  Maybe even sue him, hopefully that will prevent anyone else from leaking the information. I agree with Lindelof, we should allow the story of Lost to unfold naturally and leaking information like that certainly doesn't allow that.

Yeah I mean I am still kicking myself really for reading the spoilers...on the one hand I read them because I thought they were fake and on the other I just wanted to see...curiosity got the better of me...but when the first episode came true I thought damn this is for real :(

i didn't think the spoilers could possibly ever be true, so i didn't mind reading them..

imagine if someone told you "snape kills dumbledore" the week before HP 6 went out!

I mean yeah thats why I read them because I honestly thought it was someone jumping on the bandwagon to get noticed but we all live and learn I suppose...and whats that about Snape...wait I read that

Over a DarkUFO's rumor section - Season 4 Snippets

While attending Yessica Kumala's yearly "end of lost" celebration bash she prepared for Josh, which took place on May 31st at their home in Honolulu, I managed to snag a few tidbits regarding the season 4 opening episode. He was reluctant to tell me anything, and supposedly didn't know anything as he hadn't got the script yet, but after a few drinks he managed to pop a few out. I cant remember the exact words, but the following was roughly what he told me regarding the season 4 opener. This may or may not be true as he says this is what he heared floating around the set as he did his final scenes for the season 3 finale. Firstly, the season will supposedly open with a similar situation as season 1 and 2, however, this time its slightly more obvious. The episode apparently opens from "???" point of view, on the "rescue boat". Secondly, as a fan of Desmond, I asked if he knew how things ended with him. Again, he reminded me that this was just a rumour, but Desmond does not make an appearence in the first episode, however, Penny does. The final tidbit he popped out was about Locke. He had been in talks with Terry O Quinn, and found out that Locke will be a much darker character next season, and apparently knows alot more about the "rescue party" than he is letting on, and that he had previously knew "Cassie?" (one of boat crew) whilst dating Helen (perhaps a fling?). This information may not be much, and may not infact be real as they were just rumours floating around the set, but I hope you find it as interesting as I did.

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.

    • "connect with audiences" is the most obvious corporate speak you can think of. I only bought Need for Speed from EA because it was the only racing game with cops in existence and I dig that. Now that they killed off NFS franchise, I have nothing to spend money on. EA is officially dead for me, just like Ubisoft which I've been boycotting for some 20 years now...
