Well I got thinking when I was reading though threads here, that alot of people like the look of Vista, and some hate it... so a thought occured to me that hasnt been thought of yet...

... why dont we, as users of the Microsoft OS, design in photoshop the look of a post Vista, post Vienna Microsoft Operating System.. ?

For the sake of continuality, we can call it "Windows Rome" with a tagline "Windows wasnt built in a day"... but yea, it would be really interesting to see what everyone can come up with. So I put the following towards you all...

Photoshop the next next gen of windows environment. Lets have say...

Plain Desktop

My Computer

My Documents

Control Panel

Internet Explorer 9 or 10

Media Player

Mail Program

and a messenger program

So lets all close our eyes, and imagine what the future holds for us all and see what we can come up with... if you want ideas, just take elements what you like about current and or past operating systems and create something new and original...

looking forward to seeing what you all come up with :)

Make it some kind of contest, try to get it up to the front page!

id love to make it a contest but unfortunitly i have nothing to offer for prize money or for a winner... would be nice tho to have this as a competition!

Maybe make it part of this GUI thing on the front page?

Quick mock up :p

Har-de-har-har. Will there ever be a thread about the Windows GUI without Mac zealots butting in?</rant>

- Mephistopheles, who personally thinks Vista Aero looks better than anything Apple has produced over the years.

Yeh feel free to just write what you think for ideas if you cant photoshop it... the idea of this thread is to provoke ideas we might be able to actually send to microsoft so we can have something we'd actually enjoy to use, where we boot it up and say "COOL" every time :)

Personally i LOVE the blackcomb video posted back in 91... i think its actually the financial analyst meeting but ideas from that taken and put into Windows Rome would freakin rock :p

Anyway, looking forward to seeing some concepts :)

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?

    • And I just bought a seat cushion for my mesh chair. The chair feels nice but the first time I sat in it with boxers, I realized I don't like the feel of mesh on my legs. 😂
