This is a great idea and it is too bad that people can not see this for what it is, this is a oppertunity for people to show what they wnat to see. I hope this keeps going.

This is a very very good idea. :yes:

In fact, somebody should make a website precisely for this.

Maybe with forums very well organized for each portion of the OS, so users can focus on single pieces.

If I only had good broadband, I would host the site myself! :turned:

I like that idea with the scroll wheel that brings up applications. But how about just icons.

WinRome ...hm.....brobably the concept of an os and an UI will be others....and it's hard to think even at vienna....or the one called "fiji" ...maybe there will be no desktop at all ...think about it ...what will be the year of the os after vienna ...?

Maybe something to think about... now.. 1280x1024 is getting more and more standard, but wouldn't be 1900x1200 a standard by the time of Windows Rome? so..a more Wide-Screen solution, witch offers more horizontal space could be interesting... ;)

I really like this concept but i was wondering if anyone really uses the documents and music features offered by windows?

personally i have never used it.

it would be nice to see some featured build into the wallpaper.

where when you change a wallpaper the programs rearrange so it looks like something.

I like float alot! Only the start button is a bit too large. The window borders and transparant background are really nice!

i was thinking about the start button and the start menu

the button is a little big

the start menu should slide out from the side and look similar to 'float' :D

HOLY CRAP! I love that concept!!! I wasn't expecting anthing that good for at least another few months lolol, dude awesome! My suggestion is to make the windows flag/button a bit smaller, and maybe adjust the right hand links so they arnt just > but more graphical... other then that, fantastic :)

I never really expected it to turn out so well, I'm sort of a noob with photoshop. I will continue to make changes and add things. Tomorrow I'll upload the PSD file, and let you guys have at it.

i came up with an idea for maximizing other windows.

when you maximize another window, the current one that was on top will cascade on the side so it can still be seen.

i wish i knew photoshop. it would be so much easier.

Sorry i can't photoshop, but

my idea is to group programs into revelant sections. When clicking the orb a window is opened with serveral forks

games, office, utils etc. Then when one is clicked on tha fans out etc etc

Simsie - that was what i was trying to do in my pic, something similar along the lines of that blackcomb video released in 91... Personally i would love to see the idea of the "orb" that fans out into the relevant groups/programs but done in a cool new exciting way. Also something that i really wanna see pushed is msn contacts on the desktop, as for me personally, 50% spent online is chatting/working with them, so to have them there where sharing occurs seemlessly with a contact online (much the same was as "my sharing folders" under live messenger would be excellent.

eg: click a contact, open a convo with them, have a button on that window to open a secured shared folder, data is transferrd seemlessly between client computers over a SSL connection...

just another idea atm :)
