What I gather from what the author of the article in question previously is that he's saying that whether or not it's "accidental", the behavior of an abuser is suicidal. Now, I'm not saying Ledger did or didn't commit suicide, but 6 different drugs... I don't even mix aspirin and beer.

Why should that take away from his excellent performance in the Dark Knight, though?

It's an absolute tragedy what happened and I feel terrible for his family, but even if he were alive today, he'd still be worthy to be nominated for an Oscar and deserving of the win (so far). What happened to him shouldn't change that at all.

I get the feeling this author is just trying to cause a bit of controversy.

The official further stated that the actor's death was ruled an accidental overdose not because Ledger took a large number of pills at once, but because of the cumulative effect that taking numerous drugs had.

I personally think it was accidental but I'm not going to argue with anyone because nobody will ever know for sure.

You don't live his life either. If you can't detail all 6 drugs, why he was taking them and so on - I don't think it's fair to judge.

While I'm sure some of you will remember my posts in the thread discussing Heath Ledger's death, and I'm not going to get into that again, I will say this much... why was he ever allowed to get multiple prescriptions for different sleeping aids (this was what I remember from the original news stories, so things may have changed since then). If I remember correctly, he got some here and over in England, but even so, unless he neglected to tell them I can't imagine they'd give that to him (not two different meds). Now if he neglected to give them the information that he had a different prescription, well then I don't know what to say.

All I can truly say, is that doctors tend to give meds out to freely. If he was having issues sleeping due to the film, like what was being said, then he clearly needed to being is therapy, if he wasn't already. The author of that article may have gone to far, but I don't think just because he died, he deserves the attention he's gotten. It should be based solely on his performance in the film.

My opinion of his role in the Dark Knight has never been influenced by his death. I don't mean to sound cold, but honestly, I don't care. People die every day and he was one of them; his death was just more visible and "relevant" because he was a movie star. It doesn't matter to me when watching the movie. I had a lot of friends saying things like, "it was so weird to see him acting," or, "it's such a tragedy that he died," and such after watching the movie. I don't feel anything like that. I just watched him perform one of the best and most memorable roles I've ever seen in film, regardless of him being alive or not. Maybe I just pay more attention to the characters than the actors.

I feel wholeheartedly that he deserves an Oscar for that role. It was amazing.

Just got back. When my bud and I were walking out of the theater, I was trying to say something and started laughing, saying, "I'm speechless!" I'm waiting for one of those idiot responses: We didn't see Rachel's body, so how do we know she's dead? Excellent movie. I joked with my bud that I liked it so much that I would buy it three times on DVD. Of course I won't do that, but man it was great.

Shes dead mate, like a slug under a finely squash sole. I didnt rate Rachael that much, they could have put some decent eye candy in there. But anything but Katie Holmes.

Even I at first thought she wasn't dead but after like 20 minutes after the explosion I got to know she is definately dead!

I know she's dead, I'm referring to the countless times people throw the argument that just because we didn't see a dead body means a person could've lived. A writer for Prison Break even adopted this silly idea on one of the supposedly dead characters (actually, two).

Exactly. Yes, it is being blown out of proportion like always happens when celebrities die but I truly believe it was very well done.

Right, Julie Newmar has the pulse on Christopher Nolan?s vision of Batman. Suddenly, this dumb article became fact, and people are reporting that Mrs. Brad Pitt IS Catwoman in Batman 3. No and no. We know who?s Catwoman. It?s Maggie Gyllenhaal?

Regarding Batman 3 rumors, we?re not going to guess if the next super villain is the Riddler (Johnny Depp) or the Penguin (Philip Seymour Hoffman). That?s all speculation at this point. But we do know two facts, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart signed on for two Bat-pictures. We?re not going to talk The Dark Knight spoilers, but hmmm. Nine lives indeed. Our source close to Maggie Gyllenhaal confirmed that she?s excited about the next movie, ?why else would she, or Katie Holmes for that matter, take on the thankless roll of Rachel Dawson? After Katie left the roll, they could?ve create a new character. But that wasn?t part of Nolan?s plan. This is the trajectory he?s planned for Rachel since the first movie. Not only is Maggie contractually obligated, but she?s already getting in shape for Batman 3.?

Absoultely 100% agree with this! It is exactly how I felt, EXACTLY :| Which is kinda scary :unsure:

Rumours and speculation again! Nolan has already expressed that he doesn't want to recycle or rehash old characters that have already made it to the big screen (with exceptions of course, Two-Face, who was integral to plot, thus unavoidable). I think that article was written whimsically, in the hopes that it might gain some ground, I dont believe a word of it though.

Exactly. The problem I believe they may face if they hold true to the Dark Knight series is finding someone to play the Joker after Heath. After all, isn't the third supposed to be the 'Return of the Joker'? I could be wrong, I'm sure there are geekier people out there than myself that could answer :D

I'm pretty sure the Joker wont return as a main villain anytime soon. If Nolan doesn't want to rehash villains who have already made it onto the big screen, then surely he wouldn't want to rehash a villain used so prominently in the predecessor. I do think we will see more of the Joker, from Arkham that is. Maybe from a shadowy cell. Who knows. I don't expect him to break out of Arkham in the third movie, at least not before near the end of the film.

Two-Face, if he does return, will probably not feature too much as well, unless the movie focuses on Bruce/Batman trying to revive Dent in Two-Face. Harvey's arc is mostly finished in The Dark Knight anyway.
