Best moment ever in a film!

That scene is great, but I still think my favorite is when The Joker is leaving the hospital and everything is blowing up around him. He pauses, kind of turns sideways and then all the way, pauses again and then turns back towards the camera while trying pressing the remote detonator again and again. And all of this was in a nurses uniform. Classic.

Yeah that is so funny When he presses it and realises its not working then it does...that was great

my guess is if he sarcastically mouthed "ten" like some people think he did...the guy he was trying to agitate would not understand what if he was implying or saying.

I hope on the dvd it shows how he got out of the room. My guess is the knife in the shoe :) I doubt the guard had a knife on him, so the Joker must of had it hidden on him

I think he got out using the broken glass, at least that's what he's holding against the guards neck when he does get out.

are you really asking why he would do that? He was trying to agitate and pick a fight with the guy. He needed to make the phone call to set off the bomb. He repeated six as a way to get under the guys skin.

Yeah 'six' would get him worked up, but 'ten' can do the same as well. "Ten" whispered in a mocking kind of way, like "You undercalculated. I killed ten. TEN. Yeah."

I saw it three times in the theaters and always thought it was 'six', but I can distinctly hear the 'tth' in the video, and I do not think it was clicking of the tongue.

It appears that IMDb might have been Hacked. /Film reader Andrew M sends along word that The Dark Knight is now ranked both #1 on the Top 250 and #1 on the Bottom 100 of all time (note: the screenshot above is from my IMDb pro account, as the standard IMDb display of this information is rather messed up. It?s also worth noting that TDK does not show up on the Bottom 100 page itself.). Also, films like Iron Man and WALL-E are now unrated, and has the message ?awaiting 5 votes?.

Seriously guys....why so serious [about this]?

Hahaha, the Joker is up to his tricks!

Heath Ledger was inspired by Sex Pistols star Sid Vicious during filming for The Dark Knight.

According to the late actor's co-star Christian Bale, Ledger researched the part by viewing old clips of the band's bassist, who died in 1979.

"Heath's created an anarchic Joker unlike any ever seen before," Bale explained. "He modelled the part on Sid Vicious which made this punk-like character. His Joker is unlike any other Joker seen before. I think it is a classic portrayal of a great villain."

Bale added that he is not surprised by the calls for Ledger to win a posthumous Oscar for his role in the Batman sequel.

He said: "Heath immersed himself in the role. I would love to see him get an award."

Ledger died in January following an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

1. 9.2 The Dark Knight (2008) 165,800

2. 9.1 The Shawshank Redemption (1994) 349,957

3. 9.1 The Godfather (1972) 299,579

Dark Knights Reign is looking thin on imdb!

Of course after 300k votes, it will be around 8.9 or 9.0.

I think TDK should be around 8.7 on imdb, but I'd give it as 10/10 :D

You're right, Oldman was good, as was the entire rest of the cast. Really good. But I was completely unprepared for how freely Ledger acted the psychopath.

I agree that actors playing these types of role tend to get all the attention and that arguably playing the mad man is the easier of the two roles. But he was believable. That, for me at least is really rare.

I was challenged and disturbed by every scene he was in. I never knew what to expect and could never read his next line in his body language.

That takes some impressive directing but, you can't build a castle out of sand no matter how good the instructions are. It takes that little something extra.

Fair point well made mate. Thinking back, to the scene where the Joker has abducted a random guy and is making him do a 'grovel' message to the camera whilst talking to the guy off camera, he suddenly barks something in a REALLY angry / ferocious voice and I think just about everyone in the cinema jumped in their chair a bit - not just out of shock but just because he sounded genuinely nuts.

Ledger was excellent, without doubt. I think I will have to go and see Dark Knight again.

Saw this last night and wow.

I thought Healths part was over hyped because of his death, but actually watching it proved me wrong, he was genuinely scary and believable.

I could have sat there for another hour or two if they could have kept going, it was amazingly done.

One of those films that truly delivers.

Saw the film last night and have to saw overall I left the cinema disappointed. Ledger's joker was undoubtably the star of the show , but as a whole i felt the film didn't work. It tried to be too many things (jack of all trades , master of none). I think the hype surrounding the movie was whipped up into a frenzy because of Ledgers death , if he hadn't died I genuinely believe this film wouldn't have had half the hype it has. For me , Two Face was a good character wasted , Eckhart just didn't convince me enough. Too many political undertones (mobile phone tapping , the us vrs them boat scene etc). I look forward to all the fanboys shooting me down in flames , but thought I'd add my 2p worth as there are always two sides of the same coin (pun intended). Agree with the comments about Ledgers performance , chilling truly chilling. Just wonder if his performance was too good , it made the rest of the cast seem , lifeless ?

Can somebody tell me the real names of

- Black prisoner who threw the detonator out the boat window

- Black mob boss who joker tricks and then kills?

- Black prisoner who threw the detonator out the boat window - Tommy 'Tiny' Lister

- Black mob boss who joker tricks and then kills? Michael Jai White
