I don't think it'll beat Titanic because of piracy, plain and simple, though it deserves to.

I remember buying a VCD of Titanic when it came out  :shifty: .

Scirwode

I was in high school at the time and a guy said he had it on a video tape, but it's infinitesimal when compared to how rampant it is today.

Except that it's still doing better than Titanic did when it opened. I suppose that's Piracy's fault, too?

I loved titanic when it first came out and still do really probably because I love anything historically about the ship.

Same here, I remember poring over all the historical text just to learn more about the ship itself. That was how I found out about other sunken wrecks, such as the battleship Bismark and the Yamamoto, and what happened to her sister ships, the Olympic and the Brittanic. I use to wish for my birthday that I get a model of the ship itself so I can proudly display it on my shelf  .

I think I found a papercraft version for it but I can't remember where it is. There was even a Millenium Falcon papercraft which I was itching to try out :p .

Yeah I remember that and the wooden toys like wooden dinosaurs you can put together weekly but yeah I am taking this thread miles off topic.

Eh? Trying to defend your habit of downloading illegally or something? So sorry for sharing my opinion.

Not at all, I'm simply pointing out the fallacy of saying "piracy hurts the industry, period". It's much more complicated than that and this very film proves that Piracy isn't killing anything.

I know plenty of people who regularly download films yet would not pirate THIS film until they'd seen it in the cinema. I also know a few people who weren't batman fans, but because of the hype pirated the film, loved it, then went and seen it in the cinema for the "full" experience.

Likewise with saying "piracy hurts the industry" is a blanket term and isn't strictly true, I'm also not saying "piracy HELPS the industry" because that's not strictly true, either.

Like I said, it's complicated.

Piracy does hurt the industry, but so does pumping out much of the junk that they churn, which in turn gives some people a reason to simply download it to see it instead of giving up their own money to. The Dark Knight is doing great and rightly so, but that doesn't negate the fact that people are downloading it instead of buying a ticket to see it.

Anyone who doesn't go see it in theatres and downloads a crappy cam quality is really missing out. I saw it twice in theatres and would go again if I could but now Im just extremely anxious for when it's released on DVD/BluRay. This is the first movie in a very long time I'm willing to spend money on.

I know the feeling.

A friend of mine had it on his iPhone and I got upset. I told him to delete it because he needs to see it in the theater. He went and saw it but still has the crappy cam. I saw it twice already. Im going tomorrow night to see the IMAX version.

I admit it, I pirate films. Why? because I used to go to the theatres and I used to rent what I didn't see there. It used to be cheap to rent a movie, now it's 10 bucks a 2 day rental, and ticket prices are the same. I'm sorry but I'll only see the movies I REALLY want to see in the theatre. I haven't rented a movie in over a year. I download rips of movies and watch them. If I liked it I will BUY THE DVD. I'm sure the dvd sales tranfer to more money for them than renting it anyways, so from me they are gaining, since I buy a lot of movies.

Back on topic. I saw The Dark Knight in theatre last night and loved it. I'll try to get to Edmonton or Calgary to see it in IMAX, but I don't know if I'll be able to or not. Definitely worht buying when it comes out.

Dude, get Netflix. $19 a month. I get like 12-20 movies a month. A lot cheaper.

There's also Redbox and one other thing at my local Kroger. $1 per day rentals, but granted, these probably aren't everywhere and have a limited selection.

Ok I watched it again.

Joker definitely mouths the word 10 in the jail....I think in defiance to the cop who thinks he only killed 6.... Joker is just showing that he doesn't care how many he has killed...and the law can't do him anything....basically.

Just when I thought that argument/discussion was over :p

    • Can you still click his nose in the about box?
    • In that case this product has no value to me. I'd rather use older Creative SB that were better in my opinion or onboard audio chip.
