I just came back from watching it. I almost fell asleep. Ledger's Joker performance was outstanding but the rest was pretty boring to me.

Along with Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan makes a point to create a superhero movie that's NOT FUN.

Although very rebellious with Hollywood standards by making a movie that's NOT FUN, Nolan makes up for it with the drama, characters, and story. To him, the idea of Batman isn't fun. It's not...oh let's blow stuff up and save the day. To him, Batman is a complicated character with very dark tendencies. He's also trying to make a political statement as far as trying to define America's identity in the current political climate. You know...bruce wayne...millionaire playboy who's parents got shot and seeks revenge on those that spark fear, but in return he gets chastised by Gotham's public who really doesn't know what to make of Batman. He also has to choose how far to take his power, and decide where the line is drawn. Nolan also exploits gotham's fear of criminals and terrorists and how that fear seems to overcome the inhabitants....wanting to turn their back on anything they believed in just to rid them of said fear.

I had to see this movie twice in order to make sense of it. It's really written like a crime drama with someone in a mask thrown in there. I plan on seeing it a 3rd time with the fresh perspective of a political thriller.

Amazing movie! Did anybody else laugh when the Joker blows up the hospital? I LOL'ed

Yeah, I love that part :) I like it how the Joker has a "I Believe in Harvey Dent" sticker when he's talking to Harvey in the hospital :p Seen it twice now. good times.

I disagree with that last point. I think he fully well deserves the Oscar. I don't think I've seen such an absolutely spot on and convincing portrayal of any character in any movie in a very, very long time. It was perfect. Honestly. I don't see how it could have been improved in any way.

Heh, exactly. I wonder how ol' Jack Nicholson feels, eh.

Wait, I already know.

I think Heath is much more appropriate as the Joker. I can never take Nicholson seriously :p

"MTV: What do you think of another actor, Heath Ledger, playing the Joker in next summer's "The Dark Knight"?

Nicholson: Let me be the way I'm not in interviews. I'm furious. I'm furious. [He laughs.] They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me.

MTV: It was never brought up?

Nicholson: No. It's like, in any area, you can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I'm furious. "

(sorry for the double post)

I saw it a couple days ago, and I didn't really care for it. This is just my opinion, but it was too long, too boring, and the only part I found remotely interesting was the part where the Joker had to mess with the detonator in order to blow up the rest of the hospital. If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 3/10.

You're like, the only person in the world to think that :p Oh well, meh

You chose the part where someone is messing with a detonator as the most interesting part, over all of the other action scenes in the entire movie?

Makes sense.

why are there 2 threads?

maybe this thread should be merged with:

yeah i absolutely agree.

for anyone going out to watch a movie in the hope of seeing "non-stop actions and explosions" - this movie will be a disappointment.

but if you go past that and look at the actual story. the intense drama, the characters and the message Nolan is trying to put across (the conflict between power and morality) i think it is a fantastic movie.

a great change from the usual superhero movies with their non-stop action sequences and nothing else much. the actors did a wonderful job, the cinematography and soundtrack is very very intense and in the end i think the final result is superb.

that being said, i enjoyed the action as well. go the batpod!

If you want to talk individual scenes, that part was my favourite scene as well. The way you see every room getting blown up in realistic detail, plus seeing the joker doing his walk, and then the whole thing goes up in glorious flames. It's just a terrific scene.

Totally. My favorite scene as well!

Two-face is dead. Its not like the flaming acid gave him superpowers. Batman had a strong suit to support his fall, Two-face didn't.

He was burned with gasoline, not acid like in the comics. I initially thought he was dead as well...but He and Batman both had the same landing and Batman walked away.

Are you sure you watched the same movie the rest of us did? I've seen it twice and loved it. I would totally see it again. Some people even thought it was better the 2nd time. Maybe go again? I don't know. It certainly didn't feel as long as it was to me. In fact, it seemed shorter than most movies that are less than 2 hours and it's more. Maybe I'm crazy.

batman's armour wouldnt have helped him from the shock it might have hindered him as it would have stopped his legs collapsing from under him thereby helping to break the fall

since two face's head wasnt at a queer angle he probably didnt break his neck, and since he probably landed on his back the shock was spread throughout his body, i think he had a greater chance of survival than batman, and he will come back in the third movie to suprise most of you

I agree with you in that part, however I guarantee to you that he will be back and team up with the Penguin or another famous batman villain for the third part. Maybe two villains the same way as the Dark Knight.

many movies have had character's seemingly die only for them to appear later on or in the next part i cant think of any examples in other films but in the dark knight Gordon "dies" but appears later

in games Carmine dies in gears of war but will be back, in halo the Sgt dies TWICE but comes back

so im sure Two-face will be back

    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Sonic Racing, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic Games store brought along two games from wildly different genres this week for PC gamers to claim. Robobeat is a rhythm-based action game that lets you become a bounty hunter that can wall run, slide, and bunny hop around his opponents. All you have to do is stick to the beat for the built-in or custom songs. Next, Citizen Sleeper is a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station. It uses tabletop RPG-inspired elements like dice rolls and timers to change up how players approach its activities, factions, and storylines. The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways end on June 25. On the same day, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought will become the next freebies. The bundle space expanded with two more collections from Humble this week too. The June 2unes bundle is up first, carrying plenty of rhythm games. This carries Kill the Music and Rhythm Witch in the $5 starting tier, followed by Trombone Champ, Spin Rhythm XD, and Thumper in the $7 tier. Paying at least $12 gets you the complete bundle, which adds on Kalpa: Cosmic Symphony, Everhood 2, NOISZ, and Sixtar Gate: StarTrail. The next bundle is for virtual reality fans. This carries Among Us 3D: VR and Zero Caliber VR for $10. The next tier brings in Tactical Assault VR, Ancient Dungeon, and Arizona Sunshine Remake for $15. VTOL VR, Zero Caliber 2 Remastered, Metro Awakening, and Thief VR land to finish things off for $18. Free Events It's a big week for free event fans, as Valve kicked off another one of its Next Fest events. This one carries thousands of gameplay slices from upcoming indie games The promotion is set to run until June 22. Standard free events are also ongoing this weekend.
